This will be the start to my build thread. The build is going to be a track only drift car. Started with a 83 BMW shell for 500 bucks very little rust which is rare for this car.

First thing I did was weld the sun roof shut and bondoed it smooth

Then I started with roll cage fabrication. The cage is built to rally standards as I wanted to be super safe.

Then I fabbed up an aluminum dash mounted my quick release wheel and rhino lined the floor

I also got rid of the stupidly huge BMW diving board bumper and custom fit a 2003 525 I believe bumper

Also started my switch board to be mounted in the dash

Next I bought a used 89 turbo block and trans and a bunch of other goodies from some guy that was down on his luck and started the rebuild all new seals oil regulator mod and also a bridgeport.
Before.

After.

Sorry the pictures aren't good any who then the rebuild began

Forgot to at did the oil pellet mod and everything are new parts except the rotors and eshaft

Next I had to rework the drive shaft tunnel to stuff the motor into the car

Then mounted the stage 4 spec pressure plate and 6 puck clutch onto my resurfaced flywheel the mounted the trans painted the engine bay and mounted her in with my custom engine mounts

And that bring it up to speed where I am now BTW that was like 6 months of time. But anyway I got my Borg warner s300 turbo with a divided t4 flange.

I made the divided collector and flange for it

And the start of the manifold I cut out the flange and welded on two inch and a half long stubs it will be 2 inch diameter sch. 5 pipe with dual waste gates

OK enough of the start to this thread...so the next thing I got going is fabbing up the manifold all I'm waiting on is a hand to help me decide on the exact location I want the turbo if only I had an extra arm.

IDK the exact weight yet but I do know I came home to my garage one night before the cage was in and my friends picked it up and put it on its side I was pissed but at least they put cardboard down haha.

So today I started to fab up the turbo manifold

Two things I have to address yet is I still have to port match my collector and turbo also I think I have to remove the exhaust manifold studs and go with bolts due to space limitations o and I have to fit two Watergate's yet.

I cut all the old brackets out and filled most of the holes. I tried to clean it up a lot but since its main purpose is function and I have a deadline I didn't spend much time on it.
Thanks the reassuring comments mean a lot to me I know a lot of guys on here are probably frowning on the fact that its in a bmw. But I wanted to stick out from the rest on the track.
Felix Wankel sounds german enough to me...if anything you have brought the design full circle. Great project! looking fwd to hearing it start up.
