10AE 0623272 Restoration

I changed the oil the other night and took the car for a short 5 mile trip. The ore I drive the car, the better and better its running. The oil pressure is reading much better on the gauge at idle since I put in the proper 20W50 oil. Who knows what was in there before that. I have to say that I'm really pleased thus far.

My oldest son and I decided to wash some cars yesterday since the weather was decent and I had a day off. We started with the 10AE and coincidentally, it was the car's first wash since I've owned it.
Then we washed my 88 GXL that my son loves so much:
Figured I would wash my 01 MR2 since I drive it to work a lot:
Finished with my other 10AE that I'm restoring:
And all packed away as we cleaned up the yard a little:

My oldest daughter and I took the 10AE out for a drive Saturday evening and we decided to take a few pics of the car to share. So far the car has been running and driving very well and I am very happy with it. There's still a lot more to do,but its driveable and I really enjoy driving it!!
My daughter insisted that she take my picture by the car. I agreed since I never like my picture taken:

Having a lot of cars is fun but it can be a lot of work maintaining and repairing them. The insurance can get crazy depending on how many I have more than theft and fire coverage on. But all in all I have to say that I really enjoy the cars. I like odd and uncommon cars really. I drive the MR2 daily in the summer. It s a ton of fun to drive and gets great mileage. Its like driving a go kart to work every day really. I'll put some more mile son the 10AE when we have some consistent nice weather. Yesterday it was in the 40's and raining. I'm looking forward to seeing your 10AE back on the road as well. You've got a great thing going there!

Thank you for your support!! Keep your eyes open . They fall into your lap when you least expect them to!
Not much new to report honestly. Really wanting to put some miles on the car but due to the construction on the road I live on, the car will not be leaving the driveway until the roads are clean of mud. But otherwise, its been running well and I'm very happy with the car thus far!!

Wow, this one and the other one look great! Looks real nice. It pains me that your old one is sitting in my mom's garage out of state, but better that then getting destroyed by NYC roads. That said, I'm looking to put some major work into it soon, fixing a bit of rust and maybe an engine rebuild.
I still haven't found good replacement seats for it though.
Oh yeah, it's actually in Lexington, SC now -- for whenever the next time the registry gets updated.

I'm glad that it's safe and sound and that you are taking good care of the car!. I miss the car dearly to be honest. It was my first one and has more sentimental value than monetary value honestly. That car has some stories to tell and has had one abusive owner. I dug that poor car out if a field after trying to buy it from a dealer 6 years before that. In 6 years the fit ruined the car. 0623490 if I remember correctly. These two help to fill the void but if you ever decide you would like to sell it please contact me.

Took the car on its longest drive yesterday since owning it. Stopped to visit my wife's grandma and had dinner with her and her grandma last night. Felt good to get it out and enjoy it. I snapped some more pictures to share.
Wish it wasn't blurry. It would have been a cool picture:

I love the fact you drive it to work, these things have been a huge part of my life since I was 17 with my first TurboII...I’m so excited to get mine out and about.

The next steps are a Racing Beat exhaust and a new clutch. Once I do those the car is going to my dad's body shop for new paint. At some point in between I would like to have both seats reupholstered to oem specs with new black leather. I also need to replace the a.c. compressor as it has a bad bearing. I removed the belt to preserve the compressor but the system is charged and has been converted to R134A whichbis nice.

I do enjoy driving it to work. I don't want to drive it every day to work but a part of me would be proud to do so. I just dont want it getting any more banged up than it already is. My buddy at work said to me a couple weeks back "what's the point of having all these cars if you never drive them? Why not drive one to work every now and again?" I thought about it and hes right. All the cars have been is garage art for the longest time. I would only drive them on special occasions or weekend cruises. So I figured why not enjoy them while I can. So I'm gonna drive this 10AE and my 1980 RX-7 Leather Sport to work on and off the rest of the summer and into the fall. Why not? They drive great and are just sitting.

It's fun driving them, the high profile, it's what keeps me from driving it.

Thank you! An original stereo and a new surround are on the list. The car is first in my collection to be painted and have the rust addressed. The engine bay is coated with some nasty undercoating. The paint rubs off with it. I'm not sure how to remove it without damaging the paint. I've got quite a bit off already but it needs more to be removed. I'm also on the hunt for a good reupholestery company that can put new leather on the seats and make them look original. Gonna keep the car forever so I dont have an issue investing the money.

The original owner's son contacted me yesterday and sent me a picture of thebcar from back in 1990. He said it was the only one that he has found thus far. I asked him to please send me any that he finds as I am documenting this car as much as possible. I also wanted to share the picture here. The car looks amazing in the picture, though only being 2 years old, I can understand why.

I would also agree that it's a very period looking house. Though not the house where the car was at when I bought it.
No new updates currently. The car was great all year and I have some things I would like to address this year. A new clutch and a Racing Beat exhaust system would sure be nice. The original exhaust is not in great shape.
