Boxman....agreed. Already has updated springs and sway bars. I have researched Billy's respeed R&P and without an engine choice yet he has assured me the kit will be okay for my engine choices. Great addition to strengthen the weak front subframe due to cutting off the top !!!!
OK, on the rims, I also thought they were the ugliest things going but they look so retro they grow on me. I already started polishing the rims and they are in great shape. This car was shown at car shows with a black centered rim because Mariah thought the wheels were so ugly, as well. Geeh, my tire guy will freek when I order peformance 14" tires, tee hee. He is going to measure the wheel offset and thinks I should roll with an updated 17" rim as well as keep the original ones on standby for originality.

Very sweet car, you scored a great one. As far as the wheels, keep polishing or have them done professionally, it will make a big difference. If you do upgrade to larger ones, 15" is my preference. I have two different sets, Epsilons, and SSRs, both are 15". 17", imho, are way to big. By the time you get a tire profile, probably 30-35, to keep the speedo somewhat close, the car will look like a toy car with the tire/wheel combo.

I'm running anywhere from 7-10" wide rims between the 2 sets. With 245/50/15s on the rear, my speedo reads 8-11% off. i.e., I was stopped doing 87 while was holding the speedo at 78.

Personally, I would keep the car as stock as possible, both mechaically and appearance wise. I can, however, understand the need for smogablility and with Steve's help, an S5 engine is a great choice.

Have fun with the project and keep us updated with lots of pics.

i agree with Trochoid. i'd keep it as close to original as possible in appearance, but mechanically, i'd have no qualms about upgrading to the 13B-T setup. i think the key for pulling it off though is meticulous attention to detail. definitely post as you progress.

Cliff,

I'm glad to see that you finally posted up a thread on your PA. I have that car on video from SevenStock '06 tuning day at the shop where it used to reside. It's great that it went to a good home!! If it ends up half as nice as that classic Vette you're selling then it will be one incredible car. I've subscribed to this thread so I can keep up to date with things.

Thanks, Looks like 15" rims make sense. will polish these up to start. Would like to see pics of your rims, cliff

Later this week we will get a stock motor running and head to smog and registration. I made a promise to the old owner to register the car , otherwise he might have sold it for more money.

hey, Zach, post the picture you have of my 1962 corvette that Iam selling to fund this project.

Cliff,

I'll post up the pics of your Vette within the next 24 hours. Though I'm quite sure that pics don't do that car justice!

Cliff,

Here are the pictures you asked for.

To everyone else, this is Cliff's classic Vette that he's selling to fund the Ultima project:

Thanks Zach, the vette is a car one should be able to appreciate.

When the vette goes, I may add a 94ish Cosmo to the stable for awhile.

Thanks, Jeezus, I got an unsolicited offer for $62K last week, let's see if the guy follows thru. I am being lazy trying to sell it as I am really busy at work right now. I promised Zach I would get it listed if he needed to move his PA for sure - which I hope doesn't happen.

I have done a bunch of cars and the thrill is in the process and experiencing new cars.
It is more difficult since i got married 7 years ago. I have done a 66 230Sl mercedes. a 57 porsche speedster replica (too small) and a bunch of other cars.

327 motor built to about 375HP. No smog. That is why I wanted the 3 rotor 20b for the ultima. I am a little wierded out about a turbo s5 as i drove a 94 FD and found the sequential turbos pretty smooth and hope the s5 powerband is as smooth. I am sure the 20b is like silk.

I'm not surprised at the offer you received for your Vette Cliff. I figured the listing price for it would've been around $60-65Kish. A '94 Cosmo huh? Let me know if you decide you want to do that as some of my friends in Australia should be able to source one for your pretty easily.

Talking

See if this post works: it is part of the sales brouchure on the ultima new. I have the original brouchure. I will see if I can scan it and post (yeah right, don't bet on it), but for now here is the ebay listing:

eBay: 1985 Mazda RX7 Ultima Convertible Show Car PR Release
eBay: Find 1985 ? Mazda RX7 Ultima Convertible Show Car PR Release in the Collectibles , Advertising , Cars , Asian , Mazda category on eBay.
cgi.ebay.com/1985-Mazda-RX7-Ultima- Convertible-Show-Car-PR-Release_... - 71k

Zach, you are killing me...cosmo.....yes, I am researching models, options, RH drive, etc between work flurries. Also, a friend of mine imports JDM stuff into vancouver, my home town. But think of how much pain it will cause you trying to talk me out of making it into a one only Pacific Avatar Convertible Cosmo. I will start a thread asking for input after Xmas, however, I will limit this to research only until the money tree grows back, in the back yard, or the vette money comes. I better not need a spot in my garage to store your car!!! cliff

Cliff, we need you to pass computer pics 101. Post your picture on cardomain or someplace like that, it is free and even a cave man can do it.

Then link to that pic in your post here by using this format:

Here is an example of my sweet daily driver, the White One (the car I'll trade for either your vette or that strange looking and deliciously rare Avatar).

First, the format looks like this - it won't show the picture this time because I've added an extra "/" to the first [img]:

[/img]http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/11/web/479000-479999/479957_89_full.jpg[/img]

Now here is the picture that will appear because I have removed the "/" from the first [/img]:

Thanks for sharing your good fortunes and impeccable taste with us.

Ray
