Are you using the FB ignitors?

I have run into a hiccup on the distributor wiring and I'm not sure which is the best(easiest) course of action to solve it.. The wiring hook ups are very different and I am wondering if I should just cut wires and make plugs that match if that's possible? or change out distributors all together?

pics of the problem attached:
Are you using the FB ignitors? You should. If so, the pic on the right is the two that go to the ignitors on the distributor. I don't know if they're color coded but on my SE, they kind of wrap around the dist from the bottom going clockwise. Then the closet connector goes into the closest ignitor and around the top of the dist is the other ingitor where the next plug goes. You should have other wires that come out of the whole assembly that go to the solenoids mounted on the engine (I think). Anyways, if you have the extra wires. it makes it easier to see which ones goes to the leading or trailing ignitor.
I'm assuming you already have the two coils hooked up correctly.

I have no idea about the connector in the left pic, sorry.

I tried to paste a diagram from alldatadiy but it wouldn't let me.

It's alive! It even starts up quicker/better than it did in the SA..

Just have the exhaust to move over still and a brake line needs replacing. Car should be on the road by tomorrow afternoon.

The SA is close to being ready for its final resting place. a few minor things left to pull off and then it has a date with some big truck tires before I call the scrapper to come pick it up!

Here is a quick video from today of the fb running while burping the cooling system..

Did not quite get finished today, only bolted the header on and installed a new brake line. Still have the rest of exhaust to get off the SA and move to the FB.

So I drove the FB into town tonight after getting the exhaust finished.. I am having a bit of a stumble when punching the throttle but I think I know whats causing that and will get to it on the weekend.

I have much bigger issue however to sort out somehow tomorrow while working (maybe on my lunch I guess) So anyhow while I was driving to town I noticed my gauges and lights cut out. I played with the light switch for a min and after the lights went down only 1 returned back up and no "glow". figured it was just a lose connection I could find when I was ready to head home and so parked the car behind my work (private parking lot) and went to have coffee with a friend down the road. About 2 hours later I get in the car and insert the key, turn the ignition and NOTHING! not a chime, not a dummy light, just nothing at all. Grrrr! Anyhow it was too dark to look it over and trouble shoot anything so my friend gave me a lift home and now I am here still scratching my head..

Hmm now I wish I had the car in the driveway since I now think I know what the problem is, Which if I am right is totally my own fault! And after watching my video I am almost certain I know what I didn't do.. Will update after I confirm my suspicion tomorrow.

Well the battery was completely dead, only not from what I had thought might be the culprit.. So I am not sure what caused the 100% drain in my 20min drive to town.

Threw another battery in after work to which it fired right up with everything working and I drove home.

My battery's are new, my alternator is new, so beats me what the hell happened...

good project man... but when you part out an SA..heck, any 7, strip EVERY nut and bolt, wire, part etc off of it before you destroy it. people want early parts. its good to keep them around, you never know when you might need them. turning the car over and destroying it is just ridiculous.

Yea you didn't strip that car down very well at all, as for your draining issue check your grounds and check your power cable going to your alternator, if there all good get your alternator tested just because its new doesn't mean anything

The picture is not of the car in it's finale state. It was flipped to make it easier to remove parts, it will be flipped back over this weekend where I will give it a finale going over to remove anything else I feel has value to me. AND then, some friends were promised they could run the shell over with their trucks once all the glass and salvageable parts were removed.

This car has been posted in various places for part out for over a month now. and the interest in it has ceased

Truth is I really don't care about the opinion on some scrap car, I am done getting "my value" out of...

I have two more SA22's to go pick up and and an FC over the next couple weeks that are restore-able/resell-able cars. I don't have space for rotting junk to lay around forever!

Further more this thread is about the FB project! so please if your going to comment in my thread then try to be helpful or at the very least use constructive criticisms.

thanks

I think I toasted the alternator, plugin in something I shouldn't have.. Being that it is new and has worked just fine for weeks prior to the engine swap. Pretty confidant that is what happened since it also killed one of my batteries that it wont take a charge anymore. And now that I corrected the mis-plugged wire its no longer draining the battery rather its just not charging it..

Oh well, **** happens and its a simple/cheap enough fix.

Yesterday I picked up the new muffler (Hushpower HP-2) going on the car. The exhaust is being replaced from header back. I am very undecided whether or not I should also install a pre-silencer or not. The current system (also from the SA) dose not have one but I am also hoping to lessen the noise and gain some HP..

Well the garage just txt'ed me an hour ago and said my exhaust is all done but the car is still very loud and they are going to check it with a db tester to see if it even passes for legal road use.

Sounds like I might be buying a second muffler to put on there after all (if it dose not pass).

I'll have to wait till I can find a ride into town (hopefully tomorrow) before I get to hear it and pick it up or take any pictures...
