Front end is off an fd, the fd is a bit wider the the fb so with the addition of the wide body it fit perfectly!
I got a t66 so I'll be changing the Turbo out within a week or so I've been remodeling my kitchen for the past month. And I've been workin on my 83 mustang 7.

Dude! Nice job! How'd you mount the LT .. I thought only a 5.0 mustang motor would fit... Since you're apart of the now RX7 "Dark Side" you might want to check out norotors.com. A lot of v8 swap guys over there. A little older crowd. Anyway, I'm here to make 20 posts so I can ask a question here about windshield wipers. Good Luck on your build. Looks fun.

I have nothing against the V8 Swap. In fact, I can appreciate
them when well done.

However, since you asked...

In my opinion -

That bodywork is horrible.
That bodykit is ridiculous, looks fugly as hell
The Turbo is sticking out of the hood
the Turbo is at a weird angle - it's going to smoke all day long
Because the turbo is at a weird angle, the bearings/seals will go bad fast.
The Gauges don't match (I hate that)
Under the hood is sloppy
You should have at least painted the engine bay black with a rattlecan.
The Welds on the Turbo system look like **** and are rusty.
Hate that nasty "Finger Chopper" fan IN FRONT of the Intercooler.

I can appreciate -

The Direction you're going with the interior
The Cage looks good.
The complete wiring harness that looks custom.
The FD Seats look good in there.

What needs to be done.

No matter what, you need
Change that front end to an FB/Sa Style one, as that just looks
worse that Japanese Bosozoku style ricers.

Again, this is just my opinion. It's your car, do what you want.

Obviously the bodywork isn't done hence no paint.
The 'bodykit' is a piece of historyit came off of an emsa series rx7 so I guess if you want to down being able to fit 305 series tires under a first Gen then fine.the front fd nose is because I didn't have the imsa nose and the stock one didn't fit the widebody I think it matches and goes together nicely thankyou.
Very observant of you yes my turbo is sticking out of the hood I like it. Nothing like functionality as fresh and heatsoakless as possible. I should have just bought a Turbo kit like I'm sure you did and bolted it on and been another mindless drone with no original ideas.
The angle is not too high prolly an optical illusion 5* or so so I shouldn't have any problems and my oil return is at the bottom so no smoking. Oh and now I have a t66
Gauges don't match. True story. :-\
That under the hood pic is very old its much cleaner now that's when I was trying to get it to run after sitting for a while.
The entire car will be painted once the body work is done and then engine will be takin out.
The welds on the manifold are perfect than you I suggest you take a closer look and as far as the rust sorry I can't controle nature. The manifolds will be tempcoated and wrapped.
Finger chopper is on the radiator, sorry for trying not to overheat.

Opinions are like ******** everybody's got one.

You know, you DID ask, and I replied.

Don't ask for an opinion if you don't want to hear the answer

You're going to get all butt-hurt
because I told you that FD front end is hideous?

I also pointed out other flaws, but whatever - you know best.

Wow. The sheer ignorance of this statement is amazing.

As it is, this thread of yours is in the wrong section to begin with.

Im interested to see what a coat of paint does for this thing. Its.. interesting. Never been a fan of turbos out of the hood regardless of the performance benefit. What happens if it rains anyways? lol

Either way, I'm sure itll go like hell.

That "5 degress" elevation on the turbo looks more like 30 or so, to my eye.

I never have understood the idea of asking (repeatedly) for feedback, then trying to get in a pissing match with anyone who gives you one you don't appreciate.

I applaud your willingness to be creative. Your snappish attempts to one-up someone who gave you an honest opinion, not so much.

If you look in the engine bay pic, the pipe itself is on a huge angle. So relative to the floor its prolly a good 30* or so, but i think he means relative to the exhaust pipe its only about 5*.

either way the turbo doen't need to be sticking out of the hood as it is. and in my opinion the exhaust needs to be re-configured for better use of it! the car is cool in it's own way and hidiouse in another, but the end result will tell the tail.

ask all the opinions you want too, but keep in mind that it is your project and your car so build it how you want! and remember ask for opinions and you will get them just learn from them.....

DirectFreak, a mindless drone ? Odd thing to say to a guy in the top 10 on the 1/4 mile sheet. There was actually constructive criticism in his posts.

1) The turbo angle is pretty crazy
2) His comment on the engine bay. Sloppiness will come back to bite you in the ***.
3) Not painting the bay. Come on bro our cars are classics meaning they are subject to rust.
4) Bad welds are full of porosity, which causes corrosion and will eventually fail, period.

However, I'm still curious to see what it looks like with paint. Building the car isn't a race. The time and attention to detail is what makes the car stand out. The race comes later.

Hey I really like that front end. I always like to see custom cars that are totally different. Looks like it would take in a lot of air too.

Was it a lot of work to fit it?

Got any pics looking along the side of the car? How well does the rounded looking front end blend in with the rest of the lines?
