Yea, it's fitting for the gran touring aspect of it all. Running either a 205/40-17 or 215/40-17 square on these wheels will look right at home.

The Black Racing wheels will be more performance oriented with 225/45-15.

Yes, I'm aware that putting this much power through this footprint is stupid. Oops. Should have mini-tubbed rear and hacked out the front. :( Width is the #1 enemy in the canyons. Adding as little as possible is the goal.

WANKfactor 03-01-17 06:11 PM

Are you going to design your axles and hubs around those wheels, or just use spacers?
Im running 225/45/15 on mine, no flares or guard roll, they fit well, wouldnt get much more on the front but there is room for a fair bit more on the rear. It all comes down to available tyre sizes like you say. 225 in a sticky compound isnt toooo bad traction-wise on such a light car though.

Narfle 03-01-17 06:55 PM

If you find a set of all rear MS02s let me know :egrin:

It's already all dialed in. I might have to use up to 10mm spacers, but that's no big deal when you have 3" extended studs from ARP and open titanium lugnuts to hold tight

I think it'll spend more time running 225/45-15s, but the MS-02s are so unique and this build is about touring...so they fit the bill perfectly.

No one says a word about the $1650 custom intercooler, but instead talks about 23yr old JDM wheels.:lol::lol:

:egrin: Time to be evil. :egrin:

Yeah, you have some serious R&D going into your build that, quite frankly, is far above my ability to do anything other than admire it, let alone try to make an intelligent comment on it. I try to heed Lincoln's advice as much as I can - better to say nothing and be thought a fool than to speak and prove everyone right.

Having said that, the car looks great! :icon_tup:

That's funny coming from you. We have VERY similar interior builds and you've already done yours. It's gorgeous, Sir, and you're really building one hell of a car over there.

I think we just need to keep pushing each other and see where it goes.

We see more intercoolers than MS-02's ;)
I've never seen MS-02's on an FB.

I believe I'm going to be the first for that one.

Since my lug nuts are titanium, I could potentially torch them by hand, coloring them. Anyone think this build needs MORE colors?

It's also a proper 5 lug conversion where parts are located and found at parts stores vs. having to custom drill shit out time and time again. Not sure how some people consider that more economical (short term) vs. long term maintenance.

haha!

it's easy to find an intercooler, not so much good 23 year old JDM wheel!

I didn't find it, I designed it specifically for my application with EFR 9174 and absolutely maximizing my engine bay. You'll see it, it's retardedly big and yet fits perfectly. My poor hood is going to need a tummy tuck.

it's easy to build an intercooler to ur spec...u can call the company and have one made. u can't just call a company and have them build your wheels.

I guess, but the other side of the coin is it's a lot easier to hunt down and buy a set of wheels vs. measuring out your entire engine bay and ALL of your proposed accessories to mock up a V-Mount intercooler, ducting, and essentially figure out thermodynamics and fluid mechanics to quadruple your power output safely (huge heat exchangers help a lot).

As a small update, the wheels, charge piping, engine pulleys, and intake manifold (which is already powdercoated but needs 2 injector bungs added) will all get new paint.

Don't worry, I won't deface these amazing wheels. The color will go on the 5 Holes, 7 Ovals, and Full Lettering ONLY. The silver face and polished lips will stay in-tact.

that IC is a very proper size, if you put it in the trunk it would still work ok.

those wheels though, they were probably $500-600 each new, and very rare now...

I always had a soft spot for the Ms02s. They were like the Ms01s younger brother who dropped out of highs school to tour with a 1980s cover band to play guitar.

Are you talking about the small bits of accent paint on the MS-02s?

The polished lips and silver face will remain in-tact and depth of detail will be astonishing.

I'm not disgracing the design like a full polish or full paint/powdercoating. It's a modern touch and brings the entire car together (that's what my interior is going to be).

Yes, but take me with a grain of salt. They're your wheels. I'd leave them like they made them, or restore them similarly.

RGHTBrainDesign 03-09-17 07:36 PM

They're getting paint. I'm not selling the car, nor do I plan to profit from the wheels. This is for me and to feed my addiction of design in both function and form.

I'll also be making custom center caps once I figure out the dimensions

Fuck Me, that's Intelligent Design!

Pulse-Width of Output = Fuel Temperature
Frequency of Output = Ethanol Content

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...c741a0b220.jpg

These are the 0-5v calculation tables to convert output signal to temperatures/ethanol content. DOPE!

Great work on your build and we are lucky that you share it all here!
On an other note I'll just leave pic of my car on MS02 wheels. ALL BLACK BEAUTY :)

I'm one of those rare assholes who prefers to work hard and patiently build something, and in the process push personal boundaries. I'd rather get down to the grit of it all and find what drives a person, what makes them tick, rather than to just appeal to mindless fanboys.
