My favorite part of your video you posted was where you could hear your kid talking in the background, over the sound of the engine...

When do we go hardparking again?

fans are 10in ebay specials, adequate but not spectacular. On a hot day in stop and go I will occasionally see 200*

Which radiator are you using? Would that fit with the stock fan and shroud?

Hit up Rotaryshack for a 3" throttle body inlet if you want to stay 3"
Rising RPM also makes a slick 2.5" red anodized aluminum one:

The radiator is an ebay autopower special, less than $150 shipped, and i have used them with great success on several cars. They are the same size as a "short" rx7 rad, and work just fine with the stock fan/shroud.

I have looked at that risingrpm piece a few times, it is nicely done.

Combine 1 parts angle grinder, with 1 parts MIG welder, add paint as necessary.

She currently sits as a bump in the snowy landscape, but as soon as spring rolls around I'll have more updates, and start on the turbo manifold.

not sure how this thread slipped through the cracks with me, but rest assured, I've found it now and will be watching your progress from here onward.

I really like the all-out fabrication work and a lot of the little improvisations you came up with to make everything play nice with each other. Everything is nice and clean. I will be shamelessly trying to pirate some of it in order to move ahead with my Megasquirt installation. Since yours actually runs, I will more than likely be throwing some questions your way in that regard.

Ask anytime, and now that winter has decided to loosen its icy grip, I should start updating again in a week or two.

Hey man I've come up against some issues with that radiator. There is no way the factory fan and shroud will work. My radiator is a good 6" taller and about 1" wider. the only bolt hole that lines up for the shroud is the top center.

The biggest issue I'm having is that the coolant level sensor up top is a completely different gauge and pitch. Did you find a replacement or are you just running with the "coolant" warning light on all the time?

How'd you fit up that lower radiator hose? mine are scary close and at odd angles. I'm wondering if they sent me the wrong radiator, but i bought it so long ago there's no way they'll take a return now.

Thanks in advance man

Iotus: as per the additional info in your email, I believe you were sent the wrong rad. If you plan to go efan, I highly recommend the taurus setup (search it on the forum here), I went with the 2x fans this time, but if I did it again i think I would use another taurus efan. I don't run the coolant level sensor, but I imagine if you got a brass plug that was the right pitch to match the rad you could put the stock sensor in a hole in it no problem. All the sensor does is make continuity... it is no more than a bit of wire hanging in the coolant . I have come across a few of the ebay alu rads that had funny angles to the inlet pipe. The local metal fab shop here fixes them for me in about 15min and for $20. They just cut off the pipe and weld it back on at the clocked angle I specify. Someone (maybe aaroncake, i don't remember) found a ford escort zx2 rad hose that worked better once you trimmed it down.

As for the MS, it is awesome, I followed some of aaroncakes writeup, and did some other things that I had previous ideas for. Tunerstudio and autotune are absolutely fantastic once you get a rough map.
