Yeah been following that thread too! You Norwegian guys are off the fuckin chain!

Norwegian_rotary 06-20-09 05:18 AM

Hehe, not very many people in Norway that like the rotary engine, but the few that like it are really into it ;)

Another friend of me has a BP 20b single turbo, built to be running at 45 psi boost..
He is dyno'ing his car around theese days..

Starfox07 06-20-09 03:04 PM

What the hell kind of apex seals can take 45psi?

BlackWorksInc 06-20-09 03:28 PM

Super Apex Seals? LoL

Ran the engine on 15 psi boost only at this meet.. The tarmac was cold so i couldn't get any traction.

Dude. Awsome ride. Sounds killer. Love the flames.

Man, this is one of those threads I saw so often, that I eventually just stopped seeing it. Took a look at it for the first time since your initial posts yesterday. I'll have to go through it from a computer at home so I can see all the pictures and video, but it sounds like you've come a long way.

Incredible work that you have done. You have definitely pushed the limits farther than anyone else I've read about. Please, keep up the great work! :)

I have on my camera, just have to get some time to get it in to the computer.

Norwegian_rotary 08-04-09 12:11 AM

The car is now parked before the winter season, there are a few months left of the summer season here, but gonna do some modifications to my car and engine this winter.

The eninge will get some more power, and also be reinforced a little by 12,7 mm studs, balancing, little different porting to both exhaust and intake.
Gonna make me a 1" thick flat new oil pan of aircraft aluminium. (7075, T6) and some modifications to the exhaust manifold.

More power will come next season, and the car will now be tuned in the dyno when the engine is done.

Also f*** an engine now. blown a apex seal on the third rotor, only one compression pulse from this rotor now :S

ulfsinclair 08-05-09 02:43 AM

Too bad your A-pex broke, was it stock or why did it crack?

ulfsinclair 08-05-09 03:03 AM

Please tell us what brand it was, so we won´t get the same problem.

Dont know why yet. Have to take the engine appart first.

Was using Hurley 3 mm apex's.

Kentetsu 08-05-09 12:47 PM

Have you ever looked into Goopy seals? I have not used them, but have read some interesting things about them...

elwood 08-05-09 01:45 PM

Some of the other areas of the forum have many threads on apex seals. Up until now, these things have generally come in two types:

1. Long Life, which are easy on rotor housings and don't promote uneven wear or chatter -- Mazda or Ianneti (or NRS)

2. Short Life, some of which provide increased resistance to breakage from detonation, but generally don't last as long -- All Other Brands.

As a very wise man who is a respected builder of Mazda race engines told me: There is a staggering amount of science in apex seals. Mazda spent decades developing these parts with a crew of top notch engineers and scientists, who used first rate testing capabilities. Do you really think that somebody else is likely to develop something better?

That said, the promotional info on the Goopy seals looks interesting. They don't guarantee the world, which is a sign of reality, and they're expensive -- which is also a sign of reality.

Kentetsu 08-05-09 01:57 PM

Goopy is in the process of building a motor for Sterling, which is where I heard about them. They own/drive rotaries, and even took a road trip up to see Sterling in a rotary powered truck (B2000 I believe). Anyway, they sound like real people (which I like a lot) and have some interesting ideas. Just thought I'd throw it out there...
