Oh it's a real big tank. How much litres will fit in it?

You concept is so great and well done, I could not imagine that you would make such a mistake. :)

Concerning the body, I have time.

the tank has room for almost 60 litres..

I have been a mechanich on a Rx7 rally car in 4 years, and also helped a company here in Norway a little with bouilding rallycars, so has some experience from that as well

i love rally racing all ways have. i wish i could get in to it but i cant afford to have a car just for racing and iam not sure if they even do it in my area. you reall have alot of skill. if you every start selling parts you would make alot of rx7 guys happy.

i was thinking of doing some rally cross/snow cross in my rs turbo capri when its done.since its just a track laid out with cones in fields (or during winter time a track dug out of snow.it wont beat on the car as much as a real rally race. so i guess thats as close ill get to my dream of rally racing.

when i saw videos of the rx7 that was converted to awd for rally racing it made my day. heck i wouldnt mind converting my rx7 to awd so i wouldn't have to take if off the road during winter. any ways iam rambling on, i love you car and good luck.

It looks bigger than it is.
I build one for 90 litres that I use in my 4 hour endurance race cars.
As I have no experience in welding aluminium, I made it with 2mm iron sheets. It's too heavy, even if it's empty.
I'll make a new one, a little bit smaller and with aluminium. Just have to learn alu welding.

Good luck with your car, hope you finish it in time for Gatebil in July.

I’ll follow this treat to see you finish and finally drive this beast.

Sounds a little heavy yeah, would be more than enough with 1mm iron sheet.. even 0.8 would be good enough.

But aluminium is better to use beacause its weight, thats sure..

you should take one or more of your rx7's and come up and drive at gatebil youself. its a lot of fun there, hot chicks, big party at the night, awesome driving at the day.

I got all the material and the bending work done for free, I just had to weld it.
I was in hurry to get the tank done for the following race as my old tank was broken (the car took fire after 2 hours of autocross race, it was very spectacular), so I took what I could get (fast).

The next one will be better, less weight.

Hi, my name is Jasmin, I'm 25 years old and live in Stuttgart, Germany. I've been working as a model since 1996. I started at the catwalk with fashion- and hairshows, but soon I also started working as fotomodel, promoter, dancing girl and moderator, and I competed in different contests. I've...

If she manages to get there (from Germany), I’ could also do it :)

Just have to check how I get there with my car.
Mappy.com did not show me the way.

Perhaps I could plan this event for next season, would be interesting.

warwickben 03-28-08 03:25 PM

Just have to add something here: this is my first car project ever, I'm only 21 years old so have much more to learn and experience, but I do as good as I can.

Been working as an welder in 2 years and now I'm working as an aercraft technician. Also working a little at the CF shop at the aercraft factory.

The reason people paint over carbon is the outdoor UV rays affect the epoxy resins. I'm assuming he used epoxy resins and not polyester resins. Usually, someone that vacuum bags or autoclaves pieces are using epoxies or pre-pregs (needs autocalve heat). He could clear coat it.

I agree, I like the carbon look, but it needs the correct epoxies and UV protection to do it. Or, it needs to stay indoors most of the time and only taken out to race.

I need to paint it with clear coat beacause of the epoxy as you describe, but you can also get epoxy who doesn't need to be painted.

warwickben 03-30-08 03:39 PM

yeah i was looking at buying carbon fiber sheets and the place list for a 5$ charge to have them coated in boat epoxy. its made to withstand the sun light be reflected of the ocean.

the car is getting closer and closer for starup now, nothing spessial to see on pictures beacause its most wiring and piping that's beeing done now, bot I got in two boost gauges in my fuse panel today that i can put up a picture of.

I have two boost gauges beacause one is for measuring the boost from turbo, the second one is for measuring the pressure between turbo an motor at the exhaust side, theese two values should be almost the same when i have max boost, this beacause it produces less heat and then less stress on the motor.

How you can regulate the backpressure from the turbo is by changing the turbine housing on the turbo.

awesome! super sanitary interior!!

why can't car companies design something so clean!!

glewsRx 04-18-08 09:49 AM

because most people need heat and ac and stereo and hazard lights and an ashtray and cup holder and defroster and windsheild wiper and labels to show which is which.

Well, you need six switches for what you describe. He has nine. Three more than you require. Thus, allowing for additional doo-dads and accessories that can be installed later if the 150mph becomes too boring. Perhaps Soccer Mom and kids will require a DVD player with a big amp to drown out the racket from the exhaust. A roll bar mount might work dandy for this. Along with a couple of grab handles. If mommy or the kids smoke :smoker: , they will have to flick the ashes out the window. Hope the cigarette "cherry" doesn't fly off. Hard to re-light. A beer holder  is out of the question and would spill all over the place.

All that leaves is your requisite labels. If I were to guess, Norwegian_rotary will be labeling his stuff in short order.

I don't smoke, so I'm a prime candidate for buying/making a car like this for midnight grocery runs. :dubs:

had a little fun with an old FC that have been standing here for a long time now. Found out that it was time to get rid of it, this is what happened:

starting with cutting the roof in two

then the whole car in two

and suddenly I had a lot of FC parts and a short version of a carbriolet FC
