Blown7's '84 GSL-SE Build

I'm not going to go to far in depth on why I had to build a new car other than the pinon on the diff met up with the transmission tunnel drag racing last year. This is the car I bought to swap all my goodies into. I'll update the thread as the project goes along. I'm hoping to have everything done by April 10th so I can go do some drag racing again.

This is what she looked like the day i picked her up

This is what the engine bay looks like right now. Ready to pull engine and tranny.

Well the engine is out and the wiring harness is pruned back.

Got my engine mounts today. Had them made up for me to gain some clearance for my lower rad hose. 2-1/2 solid round aluminum stock x 1-1/2 hight with the mounting hole drilled out.

More updates

Exhaust is installed and I wrapped the header with DEI black 2" wrap. While it was idling i was able to grab onto the header. engine bay temps will no doubt be lower not.

I also have my mechanical water temp and oil pressure gauges installed, sorry no pic's of the cockpit yet. I did however start her today, she has an electrical gremlin as i don't have switched 12V at the coils so i just jumped power to it and started it.

Coming along great! Nice to see. Love the angled radiator (I need details, must do mod for mine!) I would suggest getting the alternator relocation brackets to really make things look minimalistic in the engine bay.

Hey Gary, the moldings are off and i will be spray bombing her soon for the time being. Ashley and me split up so i have a little time on my hands now. No alternator relocation for me, i will be ordering the cog belt setup from down below. The belt slips at high revs, alt cant keep up. I have a template for the front of the car for the metal to remove for a S4 rad swap.

Starfox07 - dual stainless steel edelbrock mufflers in the back and there is also dual magnaflow round stainless mufflers under the car. She is still too damn loud, maybe i'm just getting old.

You're protecting all that hard work with a cheap ole Fram oil filter? Get you a Mazda genuine filter soon!

i usually run factory mazda filters, not sure why i ran with a fram. It needs its winter oil taken out and its summer race oil put in.

its loking great. i would personally go with a complete RB exhaust. if you want to quiuet it down and keep the same power and reliability, snag a RB presilencer or two and a RB muffler. that'll quiet i down and will sound amazing!

a full RB exhaust wont be good enough for the P-port. i learned this the hardway
i had a P-port in my rx2 years ago with RB presilencers and muffler, it was quiet but the power wasnt there. I ditched the RB and went to 2.5 all the way back to a magnaflow.
sure it was loud but it ran like a CHAMP. dont expect a quiet car if you choose to run a PERIPHERAL
