85 GS Build
Hey guys, whats up? I'm somewhat new to the rotary world, and have only been into cars in general for a couple of years now. This is my first build thread, and hopefully wont be my last.
I'm a proud owner of two FBs (83 and 85), and am currently in the process of rebuilding the 85. I had originally bought the 83 on an impulse, not realizing the extent of rot that had built up round the body mount for the upper trailing arm on the passenger side, and under the driver seat. Not having the proper resources or skills to repair this kind of damage, i decided to buy a shell to put the good powertrain into.
That's where my 85 comes in. i bought it last july with the intent of just swapping the motor and trans. Well, as I pulled the motor out of the 83, I started to realize more and more that I may need to rebuild the engine itself, noting several oil leaks between the housings and plates. Since then, i have completely pulled the motor apart, gotten the blown motor out of the 85, removed the suspension and braking systems in their entirety, and am about to begin reassembling the good motor.
I do need some help sourcing some parts, which is part of the reason for this thread. I am having a LOT of trouble getting my hands on either 12a stationary gears or just the bearings that get pressed into them, and I also cannot find trailing arm bushings (upper and lower). If anyone has any information as to how I can get my grubby paws on these parts I would really appreciate it. Tips and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism are also welcomed, i need as much help as i can get with this. Thanks again!
Pics soon to follow.

well folks, rust removal is the name of the game at this point. i was removing all of the rusted lines under the car the other day, and found a decent helping of rot going from the firewall to just behind the driver seat. so the next few days for me will consist of stripping out the interior, grinding, cutting, etc. once im done with the prep work ill take a few pics and post for anyone who might be interested. time to go disappear for a while...
