I also have a few other chrome pieces to go on for accent but I am still undecided on how much to put on .

For sure the all brand new stock badges I bought form Mazda will go on . I also have chrome Tag Lights that I got from WAS12A ( Cam) in australia ( came complete with a jar of vegemite !!!) going on the back . Pretty sure I will add the outside SA chromed door handles that you can see in one of the bumper pics . These came from Phils Rotary in Australia as well .

Two items I have but doubt I will put on are Chrome mirrors that are real close to stock and four chrome fender lips (with rubber gasket) I also found at ebay Phils in australia . I think that this will be too much for the exterior and kill the look I am going for

For the interior , I am still looking for some '80 SA interior door handle chrome pieces and shift surround accent I want in the black interior .

Yes , both a GSL-SE pan and cover are on the S5 engine. If you try a search of T2 swaps you'll get a full page of great threads to read about the things others have done / atempted etc.

Just got my new chrome Hatch Plate from 2rotorplus.com in the mail from New Zealand yesterday . Very nice quality. They shipped as a "gift" as well so no customs

Heres a couple preliminary pics of the Chrome bumpers on the front and rear ( its an '80 rear ).

Also my "new" inside black door panels . Not sure what year they are from as they come with the narrow carpeted map pocket area on the bottom . The early 79didnt have this and the lower pockets I had on my 79 Limited were wider.

T2 engine in and did find the rats nest and emissions crap for it . ( thanks to forum again ) . Could be running this spring

a little more progress , but just a bit

Finished the rest of the new rubber weatherstripping and also the sound deadening mat in the floor area. Installled the 79 seat rails on some FC grey leather seats. Seats will come back out for wiring and carpet work later . The FC seats feel good in there . The grey leather should look pretty good with the mostly black interior . Still have to swap the black dash in .

The inside door panels I got turn out to be from an S2 , so I dont have the proper inside door pulls and the screw holes dont match up . Also there is a metal tab on the top of the panel that there is no slot for in the 79 door ? . Not sure if Ill modify the door to fit or try to get the right late 79 panels with pocket.

The exhaust is in , custom shortened T2 downpipe , stock T2 cat and new racing beat 79 muffler ( man those are heavy !!)

Also mounted the chrome tag lights I got from Was12A. The RB tips and lights look pretty sweet with the bumper.

Next up for mechanical work is getting the fuel and brake system lines in . I have a new Rad, twin e-fans and used SE oil cooler. FMIC not bought yet. Thinking of finding a black one to stay a little stealth . Pics of those to come .

After that , likley the wiring , Yikes !

Looking good! Like I said in my pm, the tabs on the door panels should just slide over the top of the door. The FB doors don't have slots either it just goes over the door frame and behind the inner window seal. I'll have to see if I can get some pics.

Oh as for the FMIC, you can always get some radiator paint (thinner than normal paint so it doesn't clog the core) and paint it

Good stuff . I saw your door mod for the door pull screw hole . Likely do that .

Yeah it was definitely no big deal, just a small piece of sheet metal and a nut welded to the back of it

thanks , nope the "FinishLine" rear bumper kit for the vert is in the garage rafters along with the T2 side skirts I bought as well . They will be saved for when I need a car fix to get me through a long winnipeg winter.

made a little more progress on some of the small stuff . One thing to do was get the modified "FAzz" rear spoiler mounted . When he made it I had him fiberglass two female threaded inserts into the bottom near each end for mounting from inside the rear hatch .

I used two stainless steel 1/4" threaded rod and loctite into spoiler threads and then screwed on an upper and rubber lined washer and lock nut to attach through two holes in the rear of car . Also a few shots of the mounted spoiler . Its real solid and sits just above the car paint so water / dirt can drain through. Because its black the raised profile works well and you dont get any shadows . I put three small pieces of plastic rub molding on back piece to raise it jusyt above the car to drain water through the back

I cleaned and replaced all the locks on the gas door, rear and two doors . Put in new rubber gaskets and clips to hold water tight . Also got the moon roof bracket fixed and mounted .

I started putting in the window channel but realized I cant find the glass mounting pieces so that will have to wait . I think Ill buy some new ones from mazda.

The drivers FC seat wont mount perfect to the seat rails as I was told ( passenger mount was fine). I want to keep the tilt function of the FC drivers seat so I need to get a small piece welded to extend the rail about an inch to attach the bolt through .

Also got a couple brake line connections in wheel well in

I alos played arounf with some custom paint schemes for the interior parts . I used duplicolor vinyl and bumper trim paint ... that stuff is tough

The arm rests are now two tone with OEM black colour on bottom and grey to match the leather seats on top. I painted the extra red center console and under dash pieces I had grey also to go under the black dash I have to replace the red one . I painted the flat black shift surround gloss black and Im going to do the same with the stereo surround . This looks pretty balanced I think . Should look sweet with my 4 new guages in there ( water T, oil P , oil T, boost ) . Going to add some new All Brite chrome molding on the under dash pieces as well

Very good progress. Not sure what's up with the seats though, I didn't have to do anything special to put my FB rails on my S5 seats....
