Ok, so I haven't done anything much to the rex in a while but I did get one side of the window's tinted. Tried to go for a drive 2 days ago after doing a carb/throttle body swap after my spare carb sprung a leak. Already had the main one rebuilt but I totally screwed up the mixture and idle trying to figure out the problems, only to learn afterward that the 2nd anti afterburn valve was crapped out and unhooking 1 of the vacuum lines fixed it. So I swapped carbs and guess what? No gas. So after an extensive search, I did the old jumper wire and listen test and found that my fuel pump which was bought on 4/29/2012 has decided to quit. Luckily for me the old one wasn't dead I just replaced it due to age and it still works, so I put it back on this morning. Test drive later.

Just a thought. Have you pulled the tank? Looked like you had rust in the carb. Maybe the lines also need to be flushed or replaced.

Got a tank from the pick n pull and had it boiled out and polycoated prior to any other work. Then I replaced all rubber fuel lines, filter etc. Junk in the carb was from years of sitting I guess. She runs pretty good now but I do have some slight hesitation when I hit 3000rpm. Haven't figured that out yet. Had the rear end fluid replaced at the local Mazda dealership due to the drain plug being seized.

Got my scosche stereo install kit ready with all the tabs finally cut off and ready to put the new stereo in. May wait still until I install the glass run channel and grease the window regulator and tint the driver's side window though. Used the advance auto retrofit kit and recharged my a/c. So I don't wan't to look funny driving down the road with the windows on the right side tinted but not the left.

Ok I need a little help. Aside from running new speaker wire, which I haven't done yet, i've been getting my car ready for the new stereo. I have a power antenna that works and when I turn the old clarion on it comes up and down when I turn it off. But can't seem to get it to work with the new stereo. The 3 prong plug at the top is the one that seems to make it work since it operates with only that one plugged into the stock radio. But no matter how I plug the new harness in it won't come up. Any Ideas? thanks.

your car looks great! i'm a big fan of the tender blue metallic paint and of the work that you've done to the car! as for the antenna, you will need to install a relay to make the antenna work properly.

Any chance you could give me a clue on installing a relay for it? Thanks.

Found a schematic on how to do it. Thanks. Now we'll see if I can do it right.

First picture is my standard wiring harness adapter soldered and heat shrink taped to the new stereo wiring harness. Rear bin behind driver's seat, blue adapter is the hookup to the rear speakers. Gonna run new speaker wire from the stereo under passenger side carpet and into the bin, then cut that connector off and directly connect new wires to old. Reattach the blue connector up front so that my new harness can plug right in. White 4 prong connector in the front where the stereo goes is the plug for the front speakers. It was plugged into another harness in the dash that goes to the back under the storage bins to hook up to the pitiful amps. My front speaker harness will plug directly into that. this way I don't have to run wires all the way to each speaker or pull up all my carpet. Since i'm not going to put anything special as far as speakers or amps in this is the way for me. Rear speakers have been replaced since they were shot. Front are ok. I will leave the joystick in place just because I haven't bothered to figure out how to remove it and fill the gap. I'll put up more pics once I run the wire and get my power antenna relay in place.

Ok, so I haven't done anything to it in a while besides drive it once every couple of months. I was still having issues with bogging down/hesitation a little at about 3000rpms and it seems like only 2 bbls of the 4 are working right. I've started the rat's nest removal and carb strip. I'm going to do a partial rebuild on my spare nikki since it was running perfect except for the giant leaks it sprang. Keep you updated and pics after i'm done. Nothing fancy, no blue vacuum lines or anything but still. My car is exempt from emissions testing but still is supposed to have the equipment so it won't be a complete removal. I'll have to improvise a little so It will pass inspection next year. Ps, thinking about putting in a 2nd gen 13b na. I don't have the skills or knowledge for doing a turbo build so we'll see what I can come up with. I only want to do it because you can't get internals for a 12a without paying a fortune and mazda doesn't make them anymore. I welcome and links anyone want's to drop in this thread for how to do it. I have been researching and I think i've sort of got it. Thanks.

Ok, so I pulled the rat's nest out via rx7carl and now it won't run without shooting starter fluid down the carb. Damn!!!
