1979 carburetor idling problem.
I replaced my engine and threw in a 1984 engine, but kept everything from the 79, took off the solenoids because i dont really need them where i live, i have the vacuum all plugged/connected on the carb. when i start the car with the choke fully pulled the car starts and goes straight to 3k rpm, but i cant get it to idle at all without the choke pulled, if it goes under 2k rpm it will just stall. i cant really adjust my timing either because i cant get it to idle..
i had same issue with my 79 back in the day. idled around at 3k for months. my fix was to get rid of stock carburetor and install a weber..
I know that might not be apparently helpful, but consider removing the stock engine componentry and going with an aftermarket setup. ie. racing beat or other.
in the end you will be much happier

Stuck throttle cable? Anti-afterburn nipple not fully blocked? Which manifold? ACV port covered/blocked off? I could keep going but we need more details. Pics would probably be helpful too.
I have 79 manifold on, and a the 79 carb, acv is covered, im thinking its still a vacuum leak or something, when the choke is half way closed, i can idle the car at 2k fine, but the second it goes under 1800 it dies. ill take some photos of my carb and post them later on today.
