These are stainless swivel fittings. There a bunch of different tubing sizes and materials. Same for the fittings. Got the idea from the green brother's 323 wagon were using them on there water Inj setup. I'm using nylon tubing as it's good for 300psi but has much higher temp threshold then other materials. I'm using for Wastegate solenoid and water inj solenoid and fuel pressure reg. So have eliminated all other vacuum ports on mani |

Some oiling updates!
Finally got my Mazda speed Dry sump after a lengthy 6month, tiresome deal with a forum member. https://www.rx7club.com/bad-fugly-me...-loss-1079903/ Don't deal with David Eppinger. 1FaastFD3s Attachment 625998 Attachment 625999 In the time where I thought this Dry Sump wouldn't turn up at all, I ordered this cool gated Wet sump. A definite step up from my Xcessive Alloy sump, which I thinks only advantage is better sealing than the factory sump. Attachment 626000 Attachment 626001 Attachment 626002 Attachment 626003 Attachment 626004 Attachment 626005 And its final design has a integrated Baffle Attachment 626006 And also a Oil pick up sandwhich plate to lower the pick up tube to the bottom of the deeper pan. Hit up Len Bacon on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/len.bacon.1?fref=ts or Wilmeranic Mazda https://www.facebook.com/wilmeranic?pnref=story Cost me around $820 NZ shipped |

Sprang a leak in the weekend,
Heard a little fizzing after shut down, found coolant bubbling from between the centre plate and front rotor housing near the primary injectors. Im now in the process of pulling the engine, going to check the torque of the engine bolts first.I haven't re torqued since the initial build.... Hoping for the best. Attachment 624903 Attachment 624904 Attachment 624905 |
Do you have a cap of some sort on the side of the water pump housing(facing turbo). There is another coolant steel hose barb here( oem tt return) and my guess is this is where it came from looking at photos.

Pulled my engine this week for some upgrades,
Mainly to upgrade the wastage lines and fix the oil loop line leak and heat shield both. I posted i had upgraded the lines previously but i never got to replacing the rear wastage lines, with the engine out it was a perfect opportunity. Attachment 622904 Starting with the rear , i used silicon double layer and inner braided hose wrapped with heat shield separately then again half way and another layer combining the two lines. Attachment 622905 On the front I used a rubber inner braided line and used some high temp silicon over the top. Attachment 622906 Attachment 622907 Now some random garage pics haha :) Attachment 622908Attachment 622909Attachment 622910 Thats it for now ... |

Hey nice build , specially work , that oil loop line leak your have, are you able to elaborate about it .
I'm currently doing the "oil mods" , the direct front bearing and return on front iron now have -8orb fitting, just wondering if that's what your talking bout. |

Thanks :) Ah i didn't mean a true loop line, i was referring to the oil vent line from the exhaust side if the engine back to the catch can and filler neck . Sorry! It totally burnt thru the braided line and ill be repairing and heatsheilding that in a post tonight ! |
Ultimate Street build NZ
Whoaw eh, how many clicks you did before that line cooked ? I'll have to protect mine
Really well taken care car here It's nice to follow you. Ooo about that "full oil loop line" I believe it will be a mandatory process once you install that dry sump you finally got. |

Alright Oil vent line protection time ! :egrin:
I burnt thru pretty much right away ... :icon_tdow Attachment 622871 Something that didn't work initially was using a normal 90 Deg bend , it stuck too far out and was touching the wastage's dump pipe. Attachment 622872 So i used one of these instead , its sits much better... and gives a lot more clearance . Attachment 622873 Attachment 622874 Attachment 622875 Attachment 622876 Attachment 622877 Now with the heatsheild , covers over the top of the fitting too. Attachment 622878 Attachment 622879 I thought it would be cool to document this a little bit as its something i haven't seen too much on this forum specifically , and when it / if it burns out could be a very tricky thing to fix on the go (not to mention catch on fire ) |

Some interesting welds on the inside of my watsegate plumb into the exhaust ... What's happened here?
Attachment 622834 Attachment 622835 |
WHAT THE FUCK!? Who sold you that manifold? That is from some sticking mig weld in there, sucking at it, and then not grinding it away.
Absolutely NOT what is supposed to be done. |
WOW!!! Those are some truly awful welds... I did better than that in 5th grade! Just grind them down.

So after back to back late nights and all today, i finally got it back together.
Attachment 622774 But within 2 minutes of starting , it started bellowing white smoke. Attachment 622775 Attachment 622776 It wasn't doing this before i pulled it ... is this common to just occur on an engine sitting for a month ? Just wanna confirm too, white smoke .. coolant leak? Better start the pull down :( |
Did you change your catch can setup at all? Excessive crank case pressure will push oil into the combustion chamber.
Before you do anything drastic like pulling the engine, check the basics. if you think your burning coolant you will definitely smell it and see your coolant level dropping significantly. A very quick test would be to start the car and take the oil filler cap off and see if the smoke persists. If the excessive smoke was caused by oil it may take a couple minutes after start up to clear up. |

It still smoked a little bit but definitely not as much when fully warm, maybe could be deposits on the exhaust and changing to a thinner oil... i usually run thicker. Attachment 622754 I prepped the car up to take it for a drive and to get the exhaust nice and warm, hopefully burn anything out ......but i knocked the Air temp sensor off and broke it :( Just my luck haha new one is $60 Attachment 622755Attachment 622756 |
I'm glad it was something simple. Sucks to hear about the intake temp sender.

Excellent build! Quick question though, where did you mount your front relay? I've been trying to figure this out to no avail.

I assume you ground the massive amount of filler down on that waste-gate reroute!

Been a while since this thread saw the light of day....
I got a package id been waiting almost a year for today. After the Mazdaspeed dry sump front plate really wasn't going to happen financially for me, it would have cost me the same amount as the front plate to set up the rest of the system, sump and braided lines etc.. and the current Xcessive sump is worthless and shitter then factory, I'm looking forward to this thing! Attachment 617804 Attachment 617805 Attachment 617806 Came with all the hardware and a oil pick up tube extender plate. Close up and video of the gates... Attachment 617807 http://vid1372.photobucket.com/album...ps5gqyxsdj.mp4 Pumped... Attachment 617808 |
Wow that is a great piece! Where did you buy that?
|
That's Xcessive??
|
the xsessive is cast and I believe on the car. this looks great.
after the dry sump ordeal did you ever get pump shaft replaced etc? or is it still as is. that was a pretty rank situation you were put in |

Can I ask why you hate the Xcessive pan so much?

It just plain sucks, i feel like you don't get your moneys worth.
Stay with factory over the Xcessive sump. The baffling not only sucks , the baffling is actually non existant and worse then factory. There is not a single baffle to control slosh, its a big over priced alloy ice cream tub . They give you a deeper pan, but no pick up tube extender so theres no advantage there. The Xcessive products are poorly cast, i had a straight hole in my Xcessive lower intake manifold (go back thru my build) you could see through it. addind to that i had to get the faces remachining because they weren't flat (also back in my build thread) Only thing going for it ( i thought ) was the O ring'd seal. Nek minute ... Attachment 617677 |
will you please sell me your xcessive sump now luke?
serious question; pm me a price :D Brad. |

Quick write up of the Len Bacon sump, i can't recall what company he's selling it under or name.
Sunday was a big day, engine out and back in. Attachment 615677 Attachment 615678 Attachment 615679 Xcessive sump off, i couldn't find the bolts to my engine stand which was frustrating so had to do this under the engine crane ... ugh dodgy . Heres the sandwich plate to extend the pick up tube lower into the deeper pan. Attachment 615680 O-ring cooped up ready to go in. Attachment 615681 Overall was a easy install, all the hardware was perfect. Maybe the the oil pick up tube bolts could be longer by a couple mm's. Attachment 615682 Attachment 615683 I forgot to take a under car shot of the sump (and a comparison of the Xcessive and this side by side sorry), but to me it looks like its not as low as the Xcessive, maybe its because it doesn't have the fins. Ill take a pic. But yeah 10/10. Also selling my Turqblown TDX61 Single Turbo kit in full (including waste gate plumb in and mid pipe) its done less then 1000kms, PM me. |

I think he meant after a retune, lay the EFR dyno graph over the TDX61 for comparison.
|
True yeah, i thought that might be what he meant. Im not sure it will be too hectic, i still haven't pushed the TDX61 kit to its limit after the engines run in tune.
