This setup is awesome!

Quick question, I saw you had the coolant line plugged that comes up by the fuel rails... Is there a reason for that? I would love to plug mine to get rid of that hose!

Thanks

Thanks dude.

Yeah that is the line that comes up and passes thru the throttle body. I simplified the throttle body set up and don't use it anymore.

Check this link

Interesting! I bought my car with this line directed up to the water pump housing. I may just plug it to simplify things.

Plug it bro.
Not good for anything!

04G35S 07-16-14 07:54 AM

Awesome, Ill plug both! What about the line from the top of the water pump housing down to the bottom on the passenger side? I can get a picture if needed.

if you are still in WI and drive the car in the winter months at all I would consider keeping that hose. It is used to warm the throttle body, in winter conditions to prevent ice from forming thus preventing the butterflies from opening/closing.
I don't know how much of a problem it really is, but just something to think about.

Thanks for the heads up, but the car doesn't even see rain much less snow!
I do however remove those hoses on all my cars even my 08 TL and I have never had a problem with the throttle body freezing up in the winter.

Finally got my car in a state to take to the Fabrication shop. DKM Fabrication in Auckland's North Shore.

Bov mounted.

Attachment 639157

Tried this new position, cant see it when you open up the bonnet. Also don't have the Abs unit tucked in the side there, so there's plenty of room for it.

Attachment 639158

Other things on the list,
-Wastegate plumb ins for my cert and Warrant only.
-Clutch line
-Skid pan for the sump
-New downpipe fitted to old exhaust
- Also going to get the radiator set up properly and neatly, with the end tanks both at the top.
-Turbo hot side intercooler pipe fitted.

Super stoked how the welded HKS elbow to the turbo turned out. It looks so much cleaner than an extra silicon coupler there! WOW

Cant wait to polish it all up!

04G35S 08-27-14 03:32 PM

Your V-Mount almost looks to vertical. The intercooler is almost at a 90 and the radiator looks flat. Could just be the pictures. It that a kit or custom?

If you take the chassis rail as a guide you can see the intercooler is on a solid 45ish degree angle and the radiator is angled perfectly aswell. It's the HKS Vmount kit.. I love it . Cheers

Quick Update..

Fabrication side and Street legal side of things have been finished thanks to DKM Fabrication.

Attachment 638520
Attachment 638521

Dual Waste gate plumb ins and Street legal exhaust.
I decided to use the previous 20BPP exhaust that has a huge rear muffler , two small mufflers and a resonator, so it will clear noise levels easily. only downsize is I had to reduce the 3.5 downpipe into a 3 inch exhaust.
After run in I will build a full 4 inch stainless exhaust into one rear muffler with the twin gates venting to atmosphere.

http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...psiywf54zw.jpg

I had to modify the Radiator... The HKS vmount intercooler is by far the best set up in my opinion... aesthetically is it amazing and opens up the engine bay. However the radiator set up in less than desirable.. so I switched it up and made it much cleaner..

Bored ... I hope this is a good spot to link the BOV

Attachment 638197

04G35S 09-19-14 08:31 AM

I have always been told the closer to the throttle body the better, it vents the air right when the throttle body closes and reduces turbo surge.

Narfle 09-19-14 12:39 PM

Anywhere behind the throttle body is fine. Single port BOV's are pulled open by manifold vacuum when the throttle closes.

Dual port BOV's have an additional port for a source prior to the throttle body. This extra port helps to push the BOV open, as the vacuum source is pulling it open.

lukes 09-19-14 05:52 PM

Would the vaccum line for the fuel pressure regulator go in a similar spot ?

04G35S 09-21-14 11:10 AM

Yes it would.

Where did you get that mount for the coils?! I want to do something similar and get them off the top of my engine. Putting them by the master looks so cluttered.

Here it is ..
Looks amazing, keeps the wires nice and short.

Will have to move it back a bit tho when I side-mount the alternator and go elec water pump.

I was wondering has anyone ever cut off the bolt tabs to the upper intake manifold that attach the throttle body and then welded the throttle body to the manifold?
(Obv double throttle
Body removed )

And then Polished it up for a cleaner look?

lukes 10-21-14 06:10 PM

Could've had my car back today from the tuner.....

But there's another issue with the XCESSIVE Lim .
(On top of the hole issue on the first page)
The tuning shop started the engine up, No problems idles sweet.
My 2nd engine rebuild successful !
But there was a whistle down from the lower intake. It wasn't sealed 100% , so they took the XCESSIVE lim off and found the surface that mounts to engine wasn't flat ...

Doh not again!

04G35S 10-22-14 09:59 AM

That is really annoying! I was going to order that manifold this week and I am really starting to question if its worth the money... If I pay 500+ for something, it better perform out of the box like advertised!

Yeah I don't quite understand why its so bad! A lot of ppl use these and I haven't heard anything bad besides the runners needing to be matched.

Machining something like this flat again is awkward and expensive because of its shape.

I think the only option is to run a paper style gasket instead of the factory steel mazda and see if it takes up the gap. Hopefully that doesn't push my manifold out too much closer to the turbo.

Will post photos soon of the Xcessive un-flat  mounting surface.

04G35S 10-22-14 04:10 PM

I have heard of people using HondaBond HT in conjunction with the metal gasket to seal unflat flanges... May be worth a shot.

Ok thankfully I have resolved this issue directly with Xcessive and they are sending me a new manifold, for which I'm grateful.

That makes me feel a little better about ordering one!

Dynapack, supposed to be the most accurate

Rotate86 11-24-14 11:27 AM

Yeap dynamic hub dyno. Very accurate with repeatable results. Becoming very popular here in nz.
What were the results? Who was doing your tune?

04G35S 11-24-14 01:09 PM

Interesting, I have never seen a dyno like that!

lukes 11-25-14 09:24 PM

417 Rwhp at 15 psi. Will post the dyno sheets soon.

That just on gate spring pressure? Not controlling boost with link?

Rotate86 11-25-14 10:11 PM

Seems quite slow to build boost on factory ports

Turblown 11-26-14 10:09 AM

Great first run on the dyno. It is very rare not to have to make adjustments and go again. Is there a reason the engine was not revved higher ? It would have made a lot more peak hp with another 700rpms.

I would also check for boost leaks and exhaust leaks and do a compression check to start sorting out the sluggish boost response.

Im unsure why the dyno sheets stop where they do. They rev limit is set to 7800rpm.

There is a loud whistle from the upper intake manifold area when boost builds up, but two smoke tests of the system show no leaks?!?! The double butteryflys are wired open.. also ive never used the Xcessive LIM before. Does this create more intake noise then the factory LIM?

But you are right it will be back on the dyno in a couple of weekends after its had a few KMs on it.

lukes 11-26-14 02:44 PM

Also who knows of a quieter external fuel pump than the 044? Too loud :ninja:

lukes 12-01-14 12:34 AM

Trying to post a vid ...not working

Wait now...

Ok so I have this strange whistle... Also I'm sure that's the turbo fluttering not the BOV.

Anyone else heard this ?

lukes 12-01-14 10:41 PM

The whistle is coming from the gearbox bell housing I think...
Is that a feature of Reamemiya twin plates? Lol

04G35S 12-02-14 08:10 AM

It sounds like its coming from the turbo, but I have never heard anything like that before. maybe a boost leak?

RuffRx7 12-03-14 01:53 AM

Where is your BOV situated?
I had a slight whistle on my BOV when in idle but never heard anything like that before.

It's on the back of the compression elbow . I know right... So strange
