SPR's 2011 Time Trial Build Up
SPR's 2011 Time Trial Build Up
Hi Guys,
I've been building my car up for track use for the last 2 years and have start to do time trials with it. Over the winter and now spring I have been making some changes and upgrades to my FD to get it to NASA TTS spec and figured I'd make a small build thread to document it. I'll be updating this fairly regularly with all of the the things I have done already and will be doing throughout this season. Hopefully the car will see the track soon but there's a mechanical issue that must be fixed first.
Hope you guys enjoy

New Ducting
In the off season I got rid of the A/C and the P/S which allowed me to make a new duct for the radiator. Its made out of with 1/16" aluminum for the most part and I used some simple pop rivets to fasten it together. Along with the ducting to the radiator there is also ducting for the intercooler.
Here's the early stages of fab:

Looks nice, this is what I would like to do some day. Do you have measurements or can you give us some sort of process description? Never worked with metal this way before myself.

i love how simple you mad the duct but looks super effective and well thought out! i especially like the curves sidewall that flows into the IC duct!! any views from the front of the car further away? i see you cut up part of the front bumper, curious to see how that turned out
awesome fab work!

For sure Rich, any track days set for you yet?
It's a 99 spec lip and the splitter is custom piece which I will have more on in the coming week...
You don't unfortunately, the flat bottom isn't finished yet. The splitter goes quite far back which makes it appear to go the whole way back. The flat bottom will be done in the coming months and I'll post up pictures.
Thanks, the IC duct is one of my favorite features.

Oh and, ducting looks great. I need to get some of that mesh to complete mine.
Bumper modding is finished:
I made the final cuts on the bumper to make the necessary clearance for the brake ducts that will be going in, I think it came out pretty good.

Here is the car with the splitter and bumper loosely fitted:

Got some new tires, they're no Hoosiers or Hankooks but I needed something that is streetable, they should work just fine I think...:
