Very cool build, and great video!

Wondering how you secured the mesh inside your rad ducting?

Thanks, I'm using some very strong 3m double-sided tape to keep it in place.

Your video looks great, I can't wait to see the other ones since I didn't know my car spit flames haha, thanks for posting it. I need to get one of those GoPros I think.

Unfortunately I won't be at Beaver Run, its a bit far for me to go.
Vettes on hoosiers being fast would be an understatement hahah. Yeah you were shooting about 2 foot flames on downshift going into the uphill.

I had a few pucker moments, but mainly right after turn 1. I think there was something on the track there as going into 2-3 it would get really loose in the rear. First lap out on yellow car went sideways, but that was because of over-zealousness and fresh nt-01s that were still oily.

Overall a very fun track! Very interesting how the up hill crest likes to literally THROW your car over to the left side of the track into an area you cant see. Kinda like the bump in the middle of the straight at summit shenandoah. You have to be pointing straight or it could get hairy pretty fast.

Try to do beaver! Doesn't look like there are going to be many people because of the long haul, and the track has a huge straight.

I love Lime Rock, maybe it's because it was the first track I want on but I think it's the best around.

The uphill is a tricky turn at the crest, there's unfortunately not much room if you do something wrong. I wish I could make it out there but it's just not feasible, I should be at most of the other events though.

Could you post some pictures of the wing and how it's mounted to the hatch? I need a wing, but want something I can remove when driving on the street.

5/10/11 SPR at Lime Rock Park:
Under some of the best conditions I'll until the fall I went out on the 10th hoping for a sub 1 minute time at Lime Rock but unfortunately in the 17 total laps over the 3 sessions I ran though out the day it was not to be.

First Session-Dry: For the first session out I wanted to get any clean lap I could since I knew there would be traffic so on the first clean lap and 4th of the session I ran a 1:01.1 which bested my personal best by .4 sec. Unfortunately on lap 7 the coupler on the y-pipe blew off ending the session.

Second Session- Dry: Going with the same mentality as the first session I wanted to push the car every open lap I could and on the first lap I ran a 1:01 flat and on the second a 1:00.9. Again, as became the norm for the day, another problem arose on lap 7 and I blew the hose for CRV off the y-pipe, again ending the session.

Third Session-Dry: With the first three laps hampered with traffic I finally got an opening on the fourth lap and since there was open track ahead my splitter failed. This ended my day and I headed home.

Even though I didn't have the day I hoped for I can say the day was successful in terms of testing and since this wasn't a timed competition that's what it was about (however, I'd rather have done the 80+ laps I would normally get to help improve my driving).

Splitter:
The splitter failing kinda was a demonstration on how well it is working. The leading rivets actually pulled through the splitter breaking it loose and damaging it beyond repair. The amount of force that was required to pull the rivet through was quite high as I could put my body weight on the splitter without the rivet/splitter failing. I've done some rethinking to the splitter design in several areas and will try out some ideas in the new one I'm making now. Hopefully it will be done be Friday and I'll post some pictures up.

Here's the side of the splitter that didn't fail but gives you an idea of how it failed:

Here's the damage the failure caused:

Really nice build! Enjoyed reading it. What's your plan for the splitter? I would assume anchor it off the front bumper with larger/better hardware? Maybe I'll run into you at Nationals one of these days

Thought I'd post a couple pics of my splitter to give you some ideas... bracket design by afgmoto1978. I used elevator bolts from mcmaster ---> http://www.mcmaster.com/#elevator-bolts/=co3i1i Splitter material is 1/4" Alumalite from a local sign shop. I also made a couple front support rods with mcmaster parts to keep it from flexing at high speeds.

Adam work looks great as always. That is basically the same splitter Ill be making for my car eventually. If Adam was on this side of the country, I'd just drop my car off with him.

Yeah real cool design...he was kind enough to just make the brackets that come off the frame for me in steel. The rest was pretty much easy to fab up locally.

Thanks for the post, that setup looks very very nice. I'm now using 24 SS 1/4-28 bolts and 1" washers which seems to be holding up very well, though those elevator bolts look enticing. I misjudged the amount of downforce the new diffusers I added would create so I need sure the "wings" up a bit more.

Here's some shots of my new splitter:

what are your spring rates you run since you have a splitter and large wing?

Spring rates are currently F12k/R10k though I need to look in getting much stiffer rates, but I first need to see what range of spring rates the dampers are good for before needing to be revalved.

Latest Project:

I haven't posted anything up in a while so I figure I'd show you guys what I've been doing. Unfortunately my last track day ended 3 laps in due to a blown 90 degree coupler so I've been pretty down on the car front. The last 3 track days have all ended in the car breaking in some way or another.

For the last week I've been doing something I've wanted to for a while which is paint my helmet. I think it came out well for a first shot. I'll take better pictures when the weather around here improves.

The filler piece is something I made out of ABS plastic.

Helmet looks good. Keep your head up Ryan, I know how frustrating it is to have little nickel and dime stuff end your day. Been there and done that many of times. Hope the next one goes better!

Thanks Brent, I'm hoping so too. Though I think with your words of encouragement you should also send those Penskes to me that you got for your car...just a thought

Here's some better pictures of the helmet:

The lower you get the splitter, the less air gets under the car. Less drag and lift.

I'll doing a test day at Lime Rock this Friday and then a TT there on Aug 27th. Hopefully I'll be down at New Jersey Motorsports Park throughout the fall for events as well. Congrats on doing well in the UTCC, I just saw you on their promo video.
