Looks like you'll need the short tunnel cover? I don't think those were made for LHD, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

silverTRD 02-29-16 11:36 PM

you can trim the usdm version back. it sits lower and is more comfortable according to my son.

bzebern 03-01-16 01:51 AM

jdm seats

yeah its an inch and a half longer will trim it later once i got everything fitted in with the carpet still need to cover the lower part cause the original one has a cover
ebay has some sides for another $350 lol but will see what i can do later

bzebern 03-02-16 01:29 PM

cant pull out the engine cause we havent finish with the floor so i guess i have to work in the engine bay for now hoist will be hard to maneuver on soil of course

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1492/...355b283103.jpg14 by nakahachi, on Flickr

so today Wednesday i have to do something small to the engine to get the ball rolling im thinking of a way how to mount this
and realize that the intake manifold has to be customized sits too high will take out at least 4 to 6inches

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1576/...4886c428b3.jpg16 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1453/...4f17c98987.jpg15 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1689/...eeed83fcca.jpg7 by nakahachi, on Flickr

now im down to 7 inches to remove
lets see if i can pull this off a few inches from the oil pan and lowering the subframe

Looking good, much work needed but Im sure you not worried, this project is moving pretty quick.

bzebern 03-11-16 07:40 AM

Thanks Buddy
Im just so lucky finding parts but money is way tight
if i only had the budget i could get things done quicker but with bills, work, family and other customers cars coming its still kinda slow for me i really work with a tight schedule a couple of hours is all i need in a day and deadline its they say its gonna rain here in this weekend in socal so will see

my main problem is getting the body straight roof and driver side rear quarter panel
i dont have the machine to straighten this up and will drop off at body shop when i get the chance

quichedem 03-12-16 08:33 PM

Wow! Very nice!

So why not go with a rotary?? You clearly have the ability, but you opt for a engine that you have to make the car accommodate. Just seems like more work than it's worth for such a unique swap that no one else has done...
..Or is that the point?

bzebern 03-12-16 09:03 PM

yes im not shooting for high horsepower but for the uniqueness and challenge this is not an easy task but for the last 3 months i have been dedicated to this car
i could have finish my supra engine with the money i spent on this car and be all happy
im not trying to beat someone in building a car or spend like theres no tomorrow

if your a builder you always want something unique i could have gone 2j easily i got some extra parts laying around but i want to go all mazda and yes no one has ever done it yet i got nothing against rotary its just that i want something different

i want to push the boundaries and capability of this engine if its really worth it

i know what to do i just dont have that much money to spend like before i got a family now to support and a kid to send to school im just an average guy who lives paycheck to paycheck and do the craigslist ritual day and night

Wow! Very nice!

So why not go with a rotary?? You clearly have the ability, but you opt for a engine that you have to make the car accommodate. Just seems like more work than it's worth for such a unique swap that no one else has done...
..Or is that the point?

bzebern 03-12-16 10:03 PM

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1580/...a67a7f6c6a.jpg26 by nakahachi, on Flickr

so wheels will be 18x12 1/2 in the rear and 18x11 in the front
i just want to measure it id rather spend the money to do the bodywork for now

i have to measure 3 times just to be sure measure twice cut once

ThunderSprinter 03-13-16 07:33 PM

Nice corolla, I've got a 20v hatch myself. I remember your car from back in the day when I was all over Toyota forums, I did the original buildup on mine 7 or 8 years ago too.

bzebern 03-14-16 01:37 AM

Cool I was suppose to build a soarer last year but I lost interest not that much value in it. I'm so excited getting a fd again after years of searching. Are you going to torc this may

I was looking at the car and my roof is really bad i saw a build thread that was replacing with a non sunroof one it was mike's car locally and pmed him where did he get the roof without sunroof
mazdaspeed in irvine called them up and they only sell to "racers" so i started calling around at the dealership and ordered a new one too. Its good people sharing builds to get an idea.

My roof is so warped that it will need a lot of pounding sheet metal and bondo for sure
so i decided to just take it out

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1616/...5c14b21a_o.jpg10 by nakahachi, on Flickr

started grinding it i didnt drill it cause im not gonna reuse the roof anyway

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1488/...08e43f89_o.jpg9 by nakahachi, on Flickr

old school way of removing it screwdriver and hammer

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1452/...3ea625c5_o.jpg6 by nakahachi, on Flickr

almost half way done i got to do this one by one cause im going to loose track if i grinded it good or not so i dont mess up the bottom part of the sheet metal

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1487/...caa86821_o.jpg3 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1482/...bd66dedc_o.jpg4 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1696/...b182f8bd_o.jpg5 by nakahachi, on Flickr

passenger side almost done too noisy banging metal i cant do this at night time

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1576/...9eb57d16_o.jpg8 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1718/...3c440755_o.jpg7 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1690/...17149950_o.jpg12 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1672/...e488b5a1_o.jpg11 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1595/...fbe85fac_o.jpg13 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1706/...d4751b8e_o.jpg16 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1663/...059f40cf_o.jpg14 by nakahachi, on Flickr

opening up like a can of sardines

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1513/...fa8f1d16_o.jpg18 by nakahachi, on Flickr

That's pretty ridiculous! I love it!!
Now, just where are you planning on getting a new roof skin?

bzebern 03-17-16 11:11 AM

Thanks brother

Big props to mike (blackadde//) if it weren't for his build thread I wouldn't have any idea
That there's a way to take care of this problem

You know they make spot weld drill bits right?! You created quite a bit more work for yourself than you need to. Are you also going to put in the proper bracing for a non sunroof car?

bzebern 03-17-16 04:35 PM

yes i know

its not like im in a hurry and the car will run after i finish the roof

and here it is from blackadde// quote:
