Still looking for a box to send you the wiper cowling.

Maybe try a thick poster / large drawing mailing tube?

sir revalot 10-07-15 05:26 AM

I so hope you're putting a turdo on it..

My Mx6 has a F2T.. 2.2 sohc 12v turbo. Making around 250-280 hp (depending on the weather) sure is good fun through FWD.

Or are you just having a laugh?

sir revalot 10-07-15 05:28 AM

P.S. Those FE twin cams have bad head cracking problems. They crack under the exhaust seat every time.

sir revalot 10-07-15 05:32 AM

AWD FD?... Might be able to swap bellhousing to bolt up a rota mota

quichedem 10-07-15 10:00 AM

This should be interesting...
Seriously though, with all you've managed already (and with your tight budget), why not a rotary instead?? Surely you, of all people, could manage a solid rebuild on the cheap.

Jazsperg 10-08-15 01:01 PM

Wow simply wow. Best of luck man, this is a serious undertaking :)

96fd3s 10-08-15 03:35 PM

Well this is an interesting turn of events. I also hope your going to turbo it...145 to 165hp at the crank in stock form? :(

bzebern 10-11-15 12:51 AM

got the engine out with the help of my junkyard friends
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/731/2...e0dae59168.jpgrx7 engine 2 by nakahachi, on Flickr

got everything including ecu afm wiring etc a/c ps alternator front driveshaft
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/577/2...4cc0352927.jpgrx7 engine 4 by nakahachi, on Flickr

carried on the basket tray at the back of my wife's highlander was holding up pretty good i only live like 5 miles from the junkyard

transmission was made by getrag says on the bottom so im gonna see hows strong this could hold up im picking a transmission in san diego for the fd just for a spare im sure i could extend the shifter on the kia but will test fit first

ermmmm....its KIA, not mazda
I dunno...I just cant understand someone looking at a KIA suv motor and going "man, id love to chuck that engine in the 7"

I feel like a dick..but OP we need to change your mind about this. You have done so much great work..don't give your car a lifeless grocery-getter engine. If you intent to turbo it, then by all means; please proceed :D

Maybe you could clean the KIA engine up a bit and sell it for a profit?

bzebern 10-11-15 04:42 PM

For educational purposes about this engine

Solomiata : Interchange : FE3 motor

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_F_engine

My mind is set on this engine
I was really planning to install a 2j but I wanted it to be all mazda
im not shooting high horsepower which i cant use on the street. im not into drag racing either

car will be a stroker 2.2 boosted with itb's for sure

i havent seen an fe3 on a fd yet
so i will try it. It will be a challenge

my gt35r t3 is good to go

quichedem 10-22-15 04:21 PM

I often wonder if the K series would be a good compromise to swap into the FD (for the Mazda purists). While V-6s tend to get little love, there is the shortness of the engine and turbo if you're inclined, it surprises me to not have run across any. Are there any FDs with 6's in them?

bzebern 10-23-15 05:09 AM

been working too much ot at work for the last 4 weeks got to keep up with the bills

i have to finish building my z32 before i move on it is almost done
was trying to sell this but no luck as a shell so decided to just install a fully rebuilt engine

so today got so lucky called a jdm engine shop and they are selling doors complete for dirt cheap
i took off early at work cause traffic was a bi!@#$ in LA around 4pm

when i get there was so clean and huge warehouse

doors were complete with glass door panels switches side mirror door handles
its cheaper in the long run rather than completing the one i have

so turned my back on it and we loaded the the doors to my wifes suv

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1496/...db86051730.jpg14 by nakahachi, on Flickr

i kinda looked at the dumpster and i saw a fd hatch with glass and shocks
told them can have the just the shocks he said ok but i think its dead but he wasnt sure cause there was a huge wing on it and multiple holes thats why the want to get rid of but they gave it for free woot woot!

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1566/...0a4d1fc63e.jpg24 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1540/...bcaca7584c.jpg23 by nakahachi, on Flickr
