wow, read the whole thread and the links to the FE engine.

Im guessing you kept the car from the get go due to sentimental value.

I wish I saw this thread earlier, I have a spare driver side door and a wiper hatch.... but you got everything covered.

Modifying a car is one thing, but restoring it from...what it was.... is really on a whole other level.

So much respect and props for bringing it back to life.

quichedem 04-10-16 11:16 AM

I still feel compelled to suggest you not install the interior until everything in there is cleaned up and the car is water tight. You'll spend so much time cleaning stuff up at the end. If that's how you want it, then disregard. But I hate to see you spend time doing all that stuff when you will just have to disassemble and start all over. I won't even secure my dashboard and install all the bolts until I test my A/C system, and I haven't even rebuilt my engine yet! I'm still rebuilding my brakes all around. G2 paint is ordered, and should be here in a week. Keep up the good work!!

bzebern 04-10-16 12:27 PM

thank you for your offer though!!!

Everything is just a mock up i haven't screwed anything yet or bolted
I still have to paint the chasis, roof is not welded yet body kit not aligned,
gas cap needs trimming and a whole lot more im just trying to complete the parts first making it show quality is not in the picture im not a fan of a strip interior cause its too loud on the inside if you dd it

i have to take the car apart at least 5 more times engine at least 4 times
i already know cause good parts keeps coming in and who knows i might get another
descent chasis later on

i need the car to run first no matter how nasty it looks to make sure i have everything stock righ then 2nd stage will take effect with mods for sure

Sad to say but im only 5% done with the car :(

send me some pics of your car bro!!!

Current state of affairs in in my build thread linked in my signature. If you need any particular reference pictures, I can try to provide. I'll have some more updates after my brake rebuild. I'm going to post a group of junk I've gotten done since my last update. Progress has been drastically slowed these past few months as the car cannot be justifiably funded at the moment.

bzebern 04-10-16 04:31 PM

nice build bro learned a lot from the photos

do you know if the jdm and usdm ac blower boxes are the same?

or anyone can chime in....

Thanks, brother!

As for your question, it looks like post #10 in this thread confirms the blower boxes to be interchangeable: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...-drive-806643/

None of the other boxes are. I rehab'd mine pretty easily, so I know you'll have no problems.

Good luck!

bzebern 04-10-16 11:08 PM

so i still have time today after i took a nap so tired

i wanted to see if the oil pan is the solution to make this fit but i guess not

took me at least 30 min to set up the car engine on the hoist and bolting the transmission together

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1512/...39c22c6b_z.jpg22 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1547/...8713b9ea_z.jpg17 by nakahachi, on Flickr

i dont want to carry the transmission although its light so i used 2 floor jacks to maneuver a more lazy method

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1551/...2cb8fa88_z.jpg21 by nakahachi, on Flickr

installed new engine mounts

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1512/...cfd4db16_z.jpg18 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1599/...74725e00_z.jpg19 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1563/...05d178d9_z.jpg20 by nakahachi, on Flickr

its time

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1547/...8713b9ea_z.jpg17 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1638/...b16d3745_z.jpg23 by nakahachi, on Flickr

i wanna see how strong this getrag transmission is i have blown 3 w55 transmission in my corolla

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1603/...c4252b0c_z.jpg24 by nakahachi, on Flickr

its in

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1683/...cbf8d301_z.jpg25 by nakahachi, on Flickr

bzebern 04-10-16 11:10 PM

this is where the issue begins

plate is 5 inches shorter for the shifter

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1660/...87469226_z.jpg26 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1542/...ceaca703_z.jpg28 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1689/...f4c6b426_z.jpg27 by nakahachi, on Flickr

and the second issue

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1589/...159eb656_z.jpg30 by nakahachi, on Flickr

still up 3 and 3/4

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1496/...8818675b_z.jpg29 by nakahachi, on Flickr

oil pan already bottomed out been cut 2 inches something

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1693/...90c57604_z.jpg34 by nakahachi, on Flickr

just a quick view on underneath

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1463/...ca8f529a_z.jpg32 by nakahachi, on Flickr

engine just needs to be pushed forward maybe half an inch

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1489/...c2984013_z.jpg31 by nakahachi, on Flickr

so next thing is to mod the subframe
its good i got a spare one to work with

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1688/...ddcd32e8_z.jpg33 by nakahachi, on Flickr

this week will be focusing on the subframe transmission shifter engine mounts and maybe transmission mounts also

bzebern 04-11-16 02:07 PM

so this morning i have some ikea bed frame center supports sitting at the backyard
perfect for making a bracket to hold the chasis in place so it doesnt get misaligned

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1710/...8ae0e9f6_o.jpg1 by nakahachi, on Flickr

started cutting the wood and drilling it in its place

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1512/...ff622141_o.jpg2 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1599/...793f5353_o.jpg3 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1449/...74877d08_o.jpg4 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1555/...9fbe31f4_o.jpg6 by nakahachi, on Flickr

so now for the subframe need to cut it in four corners

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1590/...b3675580_o.jpg5 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1532/...9fbe31f4_o.jpg7 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1605/...ce3b6fd0_o.jpg8 by nakahachi, on Flickr

i ran out of sheet metal so i ran to the shop i need to make a new one for the shifter also
since its short and bought a heavy duty drill bit and cutting wheels

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1490/...96d744be_o.jpg9 by nakahachi, on Flickr

will be cutting it tonight when i get home

quichedem 04-11-16 09:27 PM

Your car: "I don't want that engine."
You: "Too bad, this is happening!"

unek87 04-11-16 11:11 PM

I don't know how I clicked on this thread since I'm a second gen ,but this build is awesome and agree with the above statement. Keep it coming brotha , love it and subscribed

bzebern 04-12-16 12:05 AM

TimdW 05-03-16 07:05 AM

Whatever happened to this build? :(

bzebern 05-03-16 02:22 PM

i just finished working on replacing on the bushing on my friends supra all around

im holding on to this one cause i might just slap a 2j set up
the process of making a new subframe for the 4 banger is the same on the 6 but just a with minimal expense on power i picked up another 2j engine and consistently planning

im concentrating on finishing up the 2jz engine first so i can have a good measurement on it

will be back in the few weeks or months

this is were i wanted the fd to be right now

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1487/...6a75cea8_o.jpg105 by nakahachi, on Flickr

im working on the bodywork on the corolla at the same time cause it needs paint

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7091/...fb8f3aca_o.jpgcorolla by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7080/...fc4a1dec_o.jpgcorolla2 by nakahachi, on Flickr

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7115/...12447a40_o.jpgcorolla 3 by nakahachi, on Flickr

bumper has cracks front and rear finished the flares all good good now

so i really havent rested yet

04G35S 05-04-16 10:04 AM

I say forget that 4 cyl and put in a 2jz! It is a way better platform to start with and supporting in the FD world.

sloFC3S 05-04-16 02:53 PM

bzebern 04-17-17 02:56 PM

so easter sunday perfect time to clean up the backyard

i decided to thrash one hatch cause i have 2 and its taking up space

keeping the glass

by https://www.flickr.com/photos/55674071@N06/, on Flickr

started removing the seal

by https://www.flickr.com/photos/55674071@N06/, on Flickr

by https://www.flickr.com/photos/55674071@N06/, on Flickr

took a little bit of force trying to save the seal so its out

by https://www.flickr.com/photos/55674071@N06/, on Flickr

i dont have the proper tool and thinking of a easy way out to remove the glasse

so i decided to just cut the hatch so i can insert a string to use to cut the sealant

by https://www.flickr.com/photos/55674071@N06/, on Flickr

i have to pry this a little bit so the string could pass through

by https://www.flickr.com/photos/55674071@N06/, on Flickr

my speciall tool lol

almost halfway its good i have a bed that im gonna throw away good for the floor so

i dont scrape the glass

by https://www.flickr.com/photos/55674071@N06/, on Flickr

after 45 min of struggle glass is out

by https://www.flickr.com/photos/55674071@N06/, on Flickr
