It was nice to at least get the engine back in the car. It's been almost a year and a half since I pulled it at the beginning of this thread. But I still have to wait on the intercooler kit which might delay things. I just paid all my taxes and now I'm broke. We'll see what kind of business shakes down the pipe in the next month.
I was assuming I could just reassemble the compressor and ac components and let Ray Wilson charge and oil the system. I'm gathering that I need to oil it before starting the engine now though? Or at least not hit the AC button until it is oil.
I'll look into the expansion valves you mention etc.

the pressure switch will prevent it from turning on until it's pressurized with refrigerant (it's a window switch that's only on between 30-60 psi, don't quote me on those pressures), so you could technically still hit the AC button (if you wanted to activate the fans on low speed or whatever) without doing any damage.
sure, ray would be a good option.

I've been chipping away at odds and ends. Last night I got the PPF and the drive shaft back in the car. Re-installed the clutch slave cylinder too.
* I've run into some electrical gremlins though.*
1. I can't get the headlamps to pop up or power on.
2. The sun roof won't work.
3. I had the dash lights working but I took out the AC panel to check the bulbs and now none of the gauge lights on the cluster work.
4. No power getting the ECU/Commander
I have two mystery plugs under the dash near the fuse box that I cannot seem to find out where they are supposed to go.
I also have one plug behind the dash right where the main engine harness comes through the firewall that is not plugged in and I am not sure where that one goes. I am wondering if I might have missed that one when I put the dash back in.
Last but not least, I just got a new PFC with an OLED commander and I hooked that up but I am getting no lights the the commander. I know for certain that I have some grounds not attached to the engine yet and that will be there next thing I will do.
Any thoughts on the lights, sun roof, pop ups etc? I checked all my fuses and there all good. I'll post up a photo of these mystery plugs I am talking about. If any one has some suggestions I am all ears.
Mystery plugs, One blue (bottom of the picture) and one 3 way white.

Yea I suck, I havent touched the fd in a few weeks. Works been busy and I've wrapped up in my Bimmer lately. I am selling my lifted pick up and my lifted Jeep CJ. When I can get rid of a few of my vehicles I will focus on the fd. I feel bad walking past it every day and letting it just sit 90% done under the car cover. I considered selling it and even called up Fritz to see if he had any interest. I'm going to hold onto it for now and hopefully get it wrapped up before the end of the summer.
How you been stranger?

Well it's been forever and a day since I touched the car. As much as I wanted to order the Greddy VMIC kit I just could not justify dropping $3000 on a fricken intercooler, a radiator and some pipes. I bought the much cheaper Rotary works VMIC off Ebay. I already mocked the kit up and everything fits with a little grinding of some of the tabs. The charge side pipe needs to be cut and re-angled for my twins and I need my local guy to modify my crossover tube on the Y pipe. All in all still way cheaper than a Greddy kit. I have to order a high flow cat this week and then it's just a matter of putting it all back together. I have convinced Rikki to come down and give me a hand chasing down my electrical issue.
I hope to get back on this project and start wrapping it up in the coming weeks.

Lookin' good!
FYI, there are some extra nipples on the HKS RS intake that you don't need if you eliminate the air pump. They are press fit/glued in, and a little propane torch heat and some twisting with pliers and they come right out.
You can find at most auto parts stores freeze plugs for engines - dig through their box and find some the right size and hammer them in. Cleans up that intake and looks way better than big dumb rubber caps on the nipples.

I spent half day yesterday and this morning reading the whole thread.
Favorite posts were:

Getting a divorce.
Random photo of the Master cylinder.
All in all I must say you are very skilled and fn intense! Finish off the damn car, you deserve it.

lol,
Yea I need to get this puppy wrapped up. It's so close to getting done. I will probably take a stay-cation from work to devote a week into it and get her on the road.
Thanks for the read and the feedback.

Is there a way to easily change the backlighting color?
Dave I got my FD back from the mechanic and body shop after nearly 6 months. I was boosting and redlining it all the way home.
Who needs a wife or girlfriend any way, this was all the uplifting I needed haha
