Ok so after a bunch of phone calls, I've got a full accounting of what happened,

When I first started the process of getting the car shipped over, I let the shipping company know that the car did not run. Apparently that was lost somewhere in communication even though I put it in writing multiple times.

I was under the impression the car was going to be picked up Wednesday or Thursday but they went to pick it up today and the brakes were stuck. The winters in Germany are brutal and the car has been sitting for a year so of course the brakes were stuck. Anybody with half way decent mechanical know how would know that.

Instead of sending a flatbed to pick up the car they sent a new car double decker hauler to pick up the car. When the guy got there and was informed that the car didn't run he refused to take the car regardless of the condition of the brakes. So with that being said I called the shipping company, reminded them of the condition of the car, and also have someone going over there to manually release the brakes.

Had they sent. Flatbed to pick up the car like they were supposed to, they would have been able to yank the car out releasing the brakes and all would have been fine. But it is what is, issue is being resolved and the car should be picked up again at the latest.

Dude 5 engines in 6 months???

You might want to try another engine builder/tuner, seriously!

lasted 19psi then serious blowby
Im running Goopey in there now i was supose to go dyno today one of my ignittion
coils gave way

Dude

The idea behind good tuning is for your apex seals to NOT see heavy detonation. You need to sort out all the other things that can be detonation sources (high heat range plugs, fuel pump voltage drop at high rpm, low grade fuel, advanced ignition timing, etc...) and then start with a rich mixture and tune to a safe AFR before doing anything else.

Just building a motor, especially one that likely has warped apex seals from the start, tossing it in the car and hitting the dyno blindly after a previous motor loss won't solve any problem and you will likely just lose another.

Heavy detonation causes rotary motors to blow. Heavy detonation happens for a reason. If you blow one and don't address the cause and reason, and simply put new apex seals in and try again those seals will see the same detonation that blew the last one. It's not rocket science.

Good luck

Alright guys. So some progress has been made. Come to find out that the shipping company some how couldn't figure out how to release the parking brake. Second attempt at picking up the car will be made Wednesday.

I also picked up a set of stock wheels to throw on the car once it gets here.

Hey guys it's time for an update.

Car arrived in New Jersey last Thursday. Unfortunately, the whole container was flagged by customs for inspection upon arrival and was moved to the customs inspection facility yesterday. I'm hoping the inspection is complete so that delivery can be scheduled sometime first of next week but fingers crossed.

I also ordered all new gaskets for the motor, along with a smaller serpentine for the accessories. Only things I need to source at this point are front suspension, and new seat covers. More information as it becomes available.

Oh the other interesting I found out about the car, is that in addition to the 500whp tune in the car, there's a race gas tune in the car good for 736whp

ITS HERE!!!

Birthday was yesterday and much to my surprise this morning as I was about to walk out the door to go to work, truck randomly shows up with the car

Couple of points of aggravation:

1. The front bumper and headlight cover went missing somewhere between pick up and delivery and the shipping company has no explination.
2. Missing the Intake Manifold, Injectors and Fuel Rails. I have a feeling they were simply left behind in storage so someone is running over to the storage shed to see if they are in fact there.

Other than that I'm very excited the car is finally here. Got all new fluids and gaskets to put on once the intake side parts are located. But until those are located not much point in doing that. I got all the hardware from my local Mazda dealer to put the door panels, center console, and passenger seat back in.

Wow that is a project! I am jealous still, I would love to put a 2jz in my car. Its a great starting point.

You do have grounds to go after the shipping company as you have before photos with the cover and headlight cover on. Do you have a bill of lading? I worked for a trucking insurance company for a few years and had many claims for damaged vehicles during shipping. I can help you out if you need it.

Update Time on the 2JFD:

When the car was delivered it rained a fair bit and for whatever reason it was delivered with the passenger side window rolled down. Compound that with the fact that I had no way of getting it in the garage, and needless to say some of things were wet when I finally got the car in at 9:30 that night.

Car sat in the car for about a week just drying out. Until finally about two weeks ago I set about trying to put the interior back together. Passenger side door panel and seat are back in. Driver side door panel is somewhat back on. For whatever reason, the bottom half of it just won't seat for some reason. The interior is mostly complete but I am missing:

Center AC vent, driver side door map pocket lid, driver side window switch, and the bottom half of the center console.

I disconnected the fuel pump relays to put power to the car and see what else worked. What I can tell you is, the sunroof, power antenna, and taillights all work. The headlights, radio, and dash lights do not. Could be because none of the fuse boxes up front are grounded, could be because there's stuff under the dash not hooked up. Not entirely sure.

This past weekend, I was able to get the car up in the air, pull the front wheels off and remove the radiator. Hopefully by this Sunday I'll have flushed all of the fluids and gotten the power steering pump back on the car and hooked up.

I also need to yank the alternator to have it tested.

Not a hugely exciting update I know but we are rolling the ball down the hill.

What a little fagget! Murcielago if you don't have any positive inputs just shut your mouth amd stay on the sideline!

Wow man, maybe listen to your own advice with that kind of hateful language. Come on dude, it is 2016 and there is really no acceptable reason what so ever to call someone that. Even if you don't agree with the guy or think he was being a jerk, you're out of line.

On a positive note, newbguy that is a cool car you've got here bud and I'm glad to meet another Atlanta member! Keep us up to date with progress!

Sorry I let this thread go dead so let me give you guys the update: The car runs...sort of.

Three weeks ago. The injectors, fuel rail, and intake manifold all finally arrived from Germany. That weekend we got it all put back together and after fixing a fuel leak, the car fired right up and idled fine. I say fine in the sense that it didn't require additional throttle input and that temps looked fine. The trouble was it was missing and AFR's were at 4.5.

So I tore everything down and diagnosed it, the help of people far more knowledgeable than I, as two bad injectors. Removed the 8 year old 800cc Denso's shipped them off and sure enough, two of them had zero flow.

Last night I installed the new 850's and now the car spins over but won't catch. I'm going to try and get into the AEM and update the injector settings and see if that fixes it.

But for now, here are some pictures

Cosmetically? Absolutely. The shipping company didn't do me any favors either.
Mechanically? This thing is absolute dead to nuts rock solid. Compression test, and leakdown all came back perfect. It went back together so easy I was actually shocked. One of the easiest cars I've ever worked on.

I will admit that there is somethings to be done under the hood to really clean it up but all I care about right now is the actually mechanical health of the car. I could give a **** less how it looks for right now. I just want to get it running right.

Now with that being said, the car is going to the shop tomorrow to have the entire engine harness cleaned up. It turns out that the issue I'm running into is that the new injectors are high impedance and the car is set up for low impedance. Normally this wouldn't be a problem because most people who do 2J swaps in to anything, use a JDM motor which is setup for high impedance out of the gate. My car is actually a fully built USDM motor so I still have the OEM resistor pack.

When it comes back I'll be up and running and tearing **** up. Should be good to go by next weekend.
