We should go on a drive soon once your fd is built, 2 montego blue fd's will be a rare sight

 

Not sure off the top of my head, they're Project Mu SCR pro disks for the RS/RZ/Spirit-r FD brakes.

I give you HUGE props for taking that project on, I would have scrapped the chassis and bought a clean one! I have a 6"x6" rust hole on my floor right under the driver seat and just thinking about it pisses me off!

Cheers, yeah, not really sure why I didn't just buy another chassis tbh. If i'd known how bad the sills were I would have. But I'd already spent a lot of time fixing up the rear when I discovered the rust in the sills. All good now, though.

Yeah, JDM UIMs are much tidier, being a UK car mine had the same UIM as the US cars. But I swapped it out.

All my engine parts are still stuck in customs... Not really surprising as they're coming via Parcelforce...

Still, I was in the mood, so got on with the brakes, fitted the rear ARB, ARB links, SS lines and ran some new brake hard lines. Had to put the regas on as the stock wheels will not clear the new brakes.

Why did you decide to go with only secondary injectors? To simplify the fuel system or is there another benefit as well?

 

Thanks! I've still got primaries, they're just located in the LIM rather than in the centre plate. It was done for simplification/tidyness over anything else really, its nice and tidy under the UIM now and I only have two fuel hoses in the bay.

Still got a bit to do in the bay:

Fit breather filter to catch can.
Connect up heater matrix.
sort out turbo oil drain as I've bought the wrong angled AN fittings.
Finish off power harness loom and tidy bay wiring.
Weld up a downpipe.
Weld up a some boost pipes.

Its amazing how much cleaner the engine bay looks when the ABS unit is scrapped. Do you have a write up on how you removed yours?

Engine bay looks so good. It's nice to see something different. Making me rethink my build when I get to this point.

 

I don't, no. I'm sure I saw one on here somewhere. I kept the stock proportioning valve and stock front/rear split on the master cylinders.

 

Jaw dropping fit and finish on your work. Very impressive. Keep it up!

 

You can see that in the picture. So really all you did was bend up new lines and didnt add anything else?

 

To keep the stock front/rear split you will need a tee fitting to split the front brake line post the prop valve. Some people actually like to run the rear and a single front off one master and the other front off the other master so that in the case one master fails, you still have a front brake. Personal preference I guess.
But yeah, just a case of bending up and flaring the lines. I replaced all the lines (Fuel and brake) with kunifer lines as the stock steel lines had started to rust.

Is that flexible rad hose? It looks nice compared to the flexible crap I've seen here.

 

Its coming along very well. I need to get back under my engine bay and try to clean it up some more. Love the way yours looks.

 

Yeah, they're decent. The inside is nice and smooth & it has a steel coil built into the hose to keep internal diameter correct around bends. Only issue is I ordered too much!
