Smile Build Update

Still waiting on paint for the wheels. Have them taken apart, and a gunmetal color paint going on.

The CF ADR mirrors arrived, going to see how they flow with the kit. If I don't like them going to stick with the stock RX mirrors. Don't like the Veilside ones that came with the kit.

New hatch carpet arrived as well as brand new floor mats, to match the new carpet in the rest of the interior.

Basically everything is dialed in at this point, engine should be running in the next week, can't wait to hear it again.

Since it has started snowing here, should be down to the village in the coming weeks, I don't think I will get to use it before the winter. I have therefore decided to keep going with some other additions I want to make, and plan to have it on the road first thing in the spring. Sucks but would rather get everything right then rush.

Trying to put the final touches/additions on the electronics. Have a Kenwood touch screen nav/dvd unit. Alpine front and rear speakers. Alarm system. Push button start. Kill switch. HKS Turbo Timer. Have all the guages I need, but might switch them out in favor of Defi guages. And my guage cluster with 300km speedo, and 25th anniversary tach is on the way.

I am trying to find a really trick rearview back up system. I want a touchscreen model with sensors, color camera with night vision, bluetooth, two av inputs, and a wide reflective surface with the monitor not visible when not in use. Would love suggestions on this, as info and models out there are mostly unknown to me, and from China, making me leary. And I hate the bulky/cheap look of most of them.

Also am going to do a custom enclosure for a sub(or two) and an amp, like the pic included possibly. Will try and do this as light and conserving as much space as possible. Just want the stereo to have a better sound, don't need it for shows etc.

Look good in person IMO, hard to tell depth from the pics, wheel's are ridiculously wide. Will have better pics of fitment when they get back from powder coat.

Just tracked down some parts I've been after. I'm most excited about the Alkycontrol Kit, I've wanted to get one for awhile, and after following most of what Howard Coleman has written in the Aux Injection section I'm looking forward to seeing how it will work, actually used to be his system, so that is bonus.

I also joined the RX8club, as I wanted to get a shift **** and some other interior parts cheap. Great place to find stuff if anyone is looking. Found a guy selling one for half of normal list. also have some stainless steel brake lines on the way thanks to Japan2LA. And a Greddy Catch Can and rear hatch cover.

Jeff at JMI wanted to know how much I wanted for the parts car, so it seems we are nearing the end. Hope to have a better update and some new completion pics or video of the engine running soon. Doubt it will be before Christmas though. In the meantime I need to stop buying parts, it's so hard though

BC Wheels back from Powder Coat

Alright these updates are too few and far between. With winter basically ending here, I'm looking forward to getting the car buttoned up and tuned sooner then later. If everything stays on schedule should have it by mid month for my birthday. Just received a low res pic of my rims after powder-coat. Looks really black, in person it is more gunmetal. Auto Exe bar came in, can't wait to install it, as well as a set of ST Anti Sway bars, Takata Harness, and some other misc parts.

ya ive been looking on the web for some nice rear view camera...been looking for like 3 months cant seem to find any that is not built in china....dunno if they really work or good....
i have the same problem i cant see **** from the rear mirror....im just using my side mirrors which is also crap.....if u find some thats good...let me know.....
ive been looking around and the best that is offered is like a sony rear view large angle nice quality, as well if the infared is just for show...need a good quality infared that can also work nights...perhaps a good one would be the ones that they put on the m5 in the front....but duno what they use...but im not sure if the bumpyness of the car will cause the camera to not work properly or jitter or lose signal.....

wonder what camera they used for the gumpert apollo car.....

Yeah I'm very surprised how hard it has been to find one. And it is near impossible to get good reviews on most of the sites, or even specs to compare. Your right for the most part they seem to be cheap Chinese junk. I'm going to try and get some more info from some of the high end installers here, I'll let you know what they advise.

They are Work wheels. Hard to tell in the pic, but the spoke is flat black, and the lip is polished gloss black.
As for the cost of the build so far, I'm in the area of too much, but Im almost finished.
As of now I'm trying to acquire a couple more parts to round out the electronics. Trying to decide on a high resolution wide view, color, flush mount with night vision backup camera.
A good radar detector, most likely Valentine One.
Defi Amber EGT Gauge and Fuel Pressure Gauge.
And a Wideband and Knock Sensor

Alright time for another update!

New heat wrapped Petite downpipe has arrived and has been installed. Also purchased a new fuel filter, oil filter, all new plugs and wires, some gas treatment, Royal Purple 5W30 and some Zddp Plus addative.

The ST front and rear sway bars have been painted black and installed, and now that my Banzai Diff Brace has arrived it will receive the same treatment. Accompanied by a Petitte Diff Bushing.

Heres is my most recent pic showing the wheels mounted on the car.

car looks awsome man, may need to take a trip to see it when you're done. Are your wheels 3 piece work? when they powdercoated them what did they do with the rubber seal coating around the inside? i want to powder coat mine but unsure about the seal.
