Hi Matt,
Nice meeting you and your wife. Wish we could hung out and chatted FD but I was anxious to get back on the road and I'm sure your wife was anxious to get you home.
I drove all night and hopped into bed about 4am
Matt drove the car off the AFB to a near by gas station and after watching and hearing (tires rubbing fenders etc...) that thing coming down the road combined with the reactions from the on lookers who were oohing aahing, commenting etc.... so I just had to take a picture.
PS When you're ready for another one please check with me I may have something worth owning. I could tell when reading this thread you had great love for this car and it was a sad end but as they say **** happens.

Fortunately no passengers in the car and I'm sure Matt feels pretty lucky he's ok.
He drove it about 1/2 mile from his garage on the AFB to a gas station across street to load on my trailer.
Truly amazing that it still starts up (purrs like kitten btw), steers, brakes etc.....
It still has the new car FD smell which is priceless. The 93 cars just have this smell that I LOVE, yes I know I have a serious problem.

Wow that sucks. On the positive side it could have been worst. I am glad that you are ok. I used to race on the street and now I go to the track. May sound crazy but the track is safer. I currentely do track days on my motorcycle and getting my fd prepared to handle the demands of a roadcourse. No one pulls out on you at the track or goes over the yellow lines. Regardless I am so glad that you are ok. FD is a hard car to find but someone is always selling one. At least in Florida they are. Lot of fd in my area and espicially down south. If you are parting out your car and you want to sell the motor let me know I need one.

Totally agree. The track is where you will learn that you were not pushing the car even close to its limits espicially a high powered car. In my case a motorcycle and soon it will be my rotary. Hell ya! I will call you later Fritz

This was my first time reading this thread, your FD is exactly the same as mine. My heart sank as soon as I saw what happened. I'm glad you are okay. I think its a good idea to give this thread a nice bump as driving season is quickly approaching. I've always felt that everyone else on the road is an enemy to the FD. Now to find out what Fritz's plans are...

Just found your thread--superb! Such a shame that it ended badly. Truly miraculous that no one was hurt. Sad that such a clean, well cared for FD is no more.
I've just purchased the IRP motor mounts and want to make sure I know what to expect before I install. You mention using a "modified" aluminum arm. In what way would it differ from the stock driver's side arm? Is there a fitment issue using the stock arm with the IRP's? I was planning on using the stock mounts but want to make sure that it will all work and fit before beginning the install.
Many thanks, and thanks for an outstanding thread.
