Haha nice, I never feel safe about carrying that much cash, so all my purchases are done in bank checks.

I think I've got a curse. |
tell me about carying the cash. I had to carry it all day and then had to give it to my friend to go pick up the car for me. lol. but sometimes you gotta carry the cash on you.
sweet on the miata btw! |
again being real slow with the build... but on Friday I took off my bumper (was a pain clipping all those zipties that held it up) and cleaned out my intercooler the best I could from that oil that got in there from the blown turbo. that's about all I got done on friday as I am having trouble finding a steel pipe that I can make my wastegate adapter from. I mean how hard is it to find a 1 7/8th 45degree short bend pipe! damn. lol

So yesterday with the magical help of MOBEONER the old fuel system and stuff came off. block looks pretty clean. (I mean it was just put in a few months ago)
http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...819_174629.jpg BUT with my luck its another freaking problem. I have no IDea how this happened and never knew it looked off. the secondary rail is not a FD rail!?!?!?! Might be a FC rail, I have no Idea, I contacted the guy I bought the kit off of and lets see what he says. I hope it was mix up, but I got this so long ago i don't know. http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...819_171529.jpg http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...819_171521.jpg |
I dont know how that happened since it came off an FD lol

so yeah, I got a few things. |
fuel system almost in... almost. lol. got to buy a few fittings, some were in not the best shape so deciding to replace so I don't damage the new rails.

i don't trust teflon tape on fuel lines....http://www.permatex.com/products/Aut...t_Compound.htm
|
Any particular reason? I know we usually use the Teflon tape and never had a problem!
|
aside from the motor build I have a large plan for the exterior of the car... I have been up in the air about what color to paint my car! I have been tossing 3 options around for a LONG time now and I think I found my answer...
I was going either do: -Black with a little red flake in it -Porsche GT3R signal green -Matte black And after a long debate I am going to be going with the Matte Black look for now! I will be doing a Vinyl wrap on the car so the body work will be done and if I don't like it I can take it off and the car will be ready to paint! After Speaking to BEN at the Carlisi meet, where he said he was going to attempt it himself, I figured I would do the same after getting insane quotes from shops. SO I said, let me try to do my interior first! and here is my first stab at my center counsel! I got it about 98% perfect! but I am really happy with the results. Thinking I am going to attempt to do the whole car myself! http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...828_223328.jpg Also, this color will go well with the CF items I have waiting to go on the car! |

So aside from working on the motor and stuff, I have been collection some goodies that will hopefully go on the car real soon. big plans for the outside and inside. but need to get the motor done right... but I figured I would share what WILL be going on the car eventually.
Got some springs to lower the car a little bit, don't need monster truck for ever. Will just go onto m R1 shocks for now. down the line I can always upgrade. http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...226_171040.jpg Also picked up a extra set of clean tail lights... soon to be 99spec converted when I find time to hang out with Theorie and do them. one day this year. http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...518_175406.jpg Some random goodies from Ray Crowe... I have only had my computer sitting on the floor for about ummm, since I owned the car. http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...602_212841.jpg With the big turbo will come some bigger boost. so I needed a boost controller. went the AEM tru boost route for now. should do the trick for what I need it to do. http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...518_204410.jpg Went out and got me a PLX M-300 tuner edition Wideband... looks great and need to figure where on the car I will be mounting this bad boy! http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...628_182018.jpg Also, was not really planning on getting this, but this was my LATEST purchase... I sold my Yamaha r6 to get some funding for stuff and this is what I got... a brand new HKS twin power ignition system... http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...823_221416.jpg |
And for the body! well, I cannot wait to get started on this, but unfortunately this will be more of a winter project... car is still down and I want to enjoy it a little before the winter hits hard... BUT, as I said earlier I will be attempting to Matte black vinyl wrap this bad boy. but before that happens I am going SHINE SPEC GT front and rear fenders... Going to Mold the rear fenders on, lets see how that goes, seems like a big project.
But I am not going with the front bumper, I seen way to many messed up bumpers here in NYC. going with this 99spec plateless bumper! http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...219_113706.jpg Then to eliminate those sideskirts I have I got a full Shine all around CF kit! Just need to get the low profile spoiler! http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...427_020342.jpg And I traded in my big box of coins for some cash and swapped my old hood with this nice CF scoot hood. oh yeah... getting some air for that turbo. http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...731_185202.jpg Hopefully with all these goodies I Will have one clean sick looking FD. I HOPE. time will tell. |
Today I got another Order from Ray Crowe... Won a $50 gift certificate at the Carlisi meet (as I did last year) but decided to use it this year... so I figured IW as redoing some of my interior, and ordered a replacement shift boot since mine was beat up! Looking at it looks like a different construction that the original I had on there. leather is not wrinkly yet since its new, but the stitching is different! no outside seams!
http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...903_004325.jpg |
wow someeeeeebody just dropped a puts load of money...
ps if you order vinyl from stickercity there is a 10% off coupon going around til sept 30 i believe oh and free shipping |
Fiz-E gets biz-E!!!
|
So over the weekend instead of going to E-town, decided to work on the car a little bit! I am waiting on fittings and stuff, so I relocated my radiator. I dropped it about a inch... inch and a half. and moved it over to the driver side wall so my intercooler pipe can clear on the passenger side... pipes fitted in and all looks goooooood....
And I hid that annoying fuse box in the front! http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...903_185009.jpg |
damn my oil coolers look busted! but no money to upgrade for now! :( maybe next year. hope this wont pull back performance too bad!
http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...903_190129.jpg http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...903_190118.jpg |
LESSON LEARNED! any plastic tab that can break will break on the rx7. lol. I kinda made a mess here. taking out the center was NOT as easy as the shifter counsel.
http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...903_200213.jpg |
Got a package in the mail yesterday... and I think I have about everything I need, got me some fitting and line... time to run the turbo lines and fix the missing one I have on the fuel rail... and will be good to go...
Blacking them out! http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...906_222910.jpg |
nice work keep it up
|
big ups to rx71king... did some SWEEEET welding on my wastegate adapter and my BOV flange. after my magic eyeball measuring and praying it would fit after getting cut and welded! it did. looking sweet
http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...909_183159.jpg An here is it installed on the car with the wastegate! http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...909_184044.jpg As I thought my car was getting closer to getting done!!!! WHAPPP some wrong fitting sizes and clearance issues set me back a little further AGAIN! :( |
You'll be ok with dual r1 coolers. It's suckers like me with just 1 that have to sweat. :)
|

Nice work, wish I had the time (and $$)!
|
Interior paint job turned out nice!
|
Just out of curiosity... Why did you move your wastegate further away from your manifold?
|
^ looks like for clearance of the down pipe
