Awesome car you're putting together!! I would chosen the RG-D's... in fact that is just what I've done, lol. My gold Advan's will arrive soon. Just got to love black cars on gold wheels!

Advan's are great... I'm thinking about it. I'm must gonna make sure i'm completely sure before I pull the trigger. I'll have to wait till I have 2k saved... then see how I feel about either saving another 800 for some s1r's or grab some rg-d's... or if I can find some Ce28N's...there's just something about them!!!

Well your opinion about Meisters vs SSR is WRONG! LOL. I hear ya. Get what you love man. Weren't your old wheels 3pc though?

Man that harness is tempting. I definitely want a 2pc, but I'm not planning on ripping everything out any time soon either haha.

the only difference with the 1 piece vs the 2 is the quick disconnect?

I think the quick disconnect looks cool and I get it's expensive, but why? Unless you're pulling your motor every weekend or running a race team I don't see the value.

Otherwise $650 for the single piece wiring harness is a great value.

wow great build you have! I am about to launch into building my 2nd FD (actually it will be my 3rd but i will be owning two) which is going to be a dedicated Time attack FD and my 410hp road car will be robbed of some of its goodies along the way im sure but your thread has given me lots of great ideas of what im going to do differently this time and like you i will be doing the majority of the work myself, keep up the good work

I chose to go with the disconnect because it'll aid me, and I want it. It's not that rywire is marking up the QD in an un-godly way. It's just the fact that they are expensive even for him at cost price. + factor in pinning the whole thing together and labor in doing that. I just hate having to feed the harness through the fire-wall all the time. I could say the same thing for switching to a quick release steering wheel, or lighter wheels, or running water/meth and OMP delete. But when it comes down to it.. it's a performance modification that I chose would be useful to my build Justifying the need for certain parts has become completely irrelevant to me for the most part.

True story haha, and I just bought my quick disconnect, they aren't that expensive in the grand scheme of things, about $85 for everything including the 90 degree boot.

Where the dollars really start to add up is in the heat shrink if you go with the milspec diesel resistant stuff.

I feel you on this. I've also reached a point where it's pointless for me to just now start justifying why I buy certain things LOL. I've wanted a QD for quite a while now. True, it's not too bad fishing the harness through the hole, but when you're doing it by yourself it's damn near impossible to get it seated correctly and every time I do it, while I'm doing it, I REALLY want a QD.

I had heard from some before that these QDs are a bit less reliable, or cause wiring issues, but I've dealt with them for years on our military equipment and very seldom have I seen them fail.

AGREE!!! But i've actually heard that they are just as reliable. I actually know a couple guys with them and after talking to ryan.. i'm convinced it's just as reliable if not moreso.. especially with the mil-spec wire etc

I'm an Aircraft electrician...trust me, it's a superb upgrade. Best part is I could get one for really cheap. If there's a little slack where it connects, they won't fail.

I personally like the RG-D's/RGII's. But it's your car.

It's coming along, just about done with all the metal work, I've got a lot of things ready to start on, but am trying to make sure I go in order of most important so that if by some chance something isn't done by deals gap, the car is still drivable and ready to go.

Disconnects are extremely reliable as long as they are put together correctly. These things only usually end up bad because of user error. Looks like your guy has lots of experience, so not much to worry about.

+1 on the harness man . The time you would save from not having to remove the abs unit would be worth the cost in my opinion.

I never had to remove my ABS unit to put the harness through the firewall, but it was certainly a bitch haha.
