also, what you said about the dyno's isn't quite accurate. A mustang dyno is a loaded dyno that is supposed to simulate the loads that a car will experience on the street. It's not set up to read conservatively less, in fact, it's more accurate, and as most people will attest, better for tuning. and it can be anywhere from 5-25% less than a dynojet. (usually 10-20 but there have been cases of more.)

You'll probably be well above 700 hp at the motor tho. In fact you're probably over it now, figure in 15% loss on the mustang dyno and 15% drivetrain loss (average estimates) and that puts you around 720 .
It doesn't, but a simple adapter plate can be made so they interface just fine. Now I'm not sure if the clutch type is computable (push vs. pull type), but it's been done.

On a different but similar note, I rode in a ~1963 Bug Eye Sprite with a highly modified factory motor (~125 up from a factory ~45) that was bolted to a TII trans. Just had a ~2.5" thick adaptor plate. It's pretty easy to do.

I agree with you and what I said was accurate also. My statement that the Mustang dyno reads less than a Dynojet is true, for the reasons you state. I also believe it is more accurate but as we know, most use a Dynojet as they are more prevalent. So if you want to compare the two, one usually adds a X% factor to the Mustang reading to even things out. Most use 15% (like you did) but I tried to keep it conservative with my 10% addition. And you are correct about the 15% drivetrain loss (although many on this forum will argue this number as being too high) but no one really cares about "motor" HP do they

No, the best I have done is full throttle to about 7,000. This is with Steve Kan tuning in the car. As I recall, I hit about 140 and I just couldn't stomach going any faster on the highway so I let off. Took a bunch of ribbing from Steve on this but hey, better be safe than dead right?

It's going to be fun having a couple of 20Bs making the caravan on up. I hope we can get 12 or so cars making the trip.

The more power, the more stuff breaks, especially on an FD; most of the components of which were designed to support 300-400 hp and that's about it.

That's one thing I like about the 996 Turbo, those things are built like a tank.

Still don't have the car back Neil. It needs to be done in the next two weeks though to make the photo shoot. We'll see.

Man, you must abuse the heck out of your car or you have the worst luck with tranny parts. Sorry

I'm going to be able to learn off of you with the T56 tranny swap as this will be in my future I am sure.

So did you re-dyno the car after replacing the waste gate spring in your Synapse unit before bringing the car home? Also did you get it so you're only running one fuel pump at idle/in low load situations?

Just picked the car up on Tuesday and am now scrambling to get it ready for a Saturday photo shoot. Wax, wax, wax...

Din't redyno just yet. Had Jesus focus on getting together the headlights and other small things including re-wiring the fuel pumps. One is on at idle and the other now comes on at 5 lbs. of boost. Works great. Jesus made each fuel pump clip the same so I can swap them to change which one is on all the time - a bit of a manual pump saver.

After the photo shoot I am taking the car back to Kilo to pull the turbo and have it inspected. It's leaking oil so hopefully it will just be a seal or at least that is what Jesus thinks. We'll then redyno at that time, in a few weeks.

The car does look great though. The headlights turned out fantastic (still waiting on the shrouds - see my other thread on this) and me reupholstered seats look and smell utterly great. I am going to post up a new thread on these as they are top quality at a good price.

More to come!

Hey man! Thanks for asking. It's on the car and I asked for Jesus at Kilo to try to get it to fit but he hasn't done it yet. He'll need to maneuver it around the position of the fuel rails to see. In any event, it doesn't move but it just doesn't velcro shut.

I'll take some pics later and post them up. FYI - Jesus really like the shield and thinks it's a good idea.

I'm not sure what the difference between a LIM heat shield and a turbo blanket. I alway looking for something to help with underhood heat.

A turbo blanket fits around the turbo to reduce heat. A LIM blanket fits around the LIM to reduce heat.

Photo Shoot Time!

A quickie update. Scottie (Punished) drove up from Tampa this weekend and came over with Chris (redrx7) to do a photo shoot of my car. We fought the rainy elements off long enough to take some pics yesterday and I want to say a big "thank you" to the two of them. I had a great time and hopefully got some nice shots.

I've lived in Jacksonville for a long time and have always wanted to take pics in two locations, on the board walk on the beach in front of the old life guard station in Jax Beach and rolling shots on our suspension bridge, the Dames Point Bridge. After talking the life guards into allowing us to drive the car on up the board walk, we pulled both off as well as getting some good shots in one additional location.

Probably the coolest thing for me is getting asked what year the car is and to respond "it's a 1994", only to have people try to correct me by saying, "you mean 2004 right?" The timeless beauty of the FD is remarkable.

I'll post up a link to the photo shoot pics when I get one but for know, where are a few pics I took of Scottie shooting the car and Chris looking on:
