Talking I spent way too much money so I could have my very own build thread.

I've been on the forums for a while now, and I've always envied people who had the time and money to do their own build threads. Now finally, here I am with mine! I'm shooting for a street..ish drag FD. Turbo of choice for now is a GT4088

Parts list
Aggressive street ported motor with 3mm seals from Rotary Rebuild Store in TN
RX7 Store GT4088 turbo kit (divided T4, .95 A/R, Tial 44)
Ported upper intake manifold
Pettit CCIII intercooler
Pettit Cool Power thermal barriers and CAI
850/1680 injectors, Aeromotive FPR, Walbro 255
HKS Twinfire
ACT 6 Puck Clutch
TII Diff
Koni adjustable shocks with PFS springs
Pettit Launch Kit (trailing arms, toe links, race diff mounts)
Snow Performance Meth Kit
Slotted brake rotors, SS lines, Pettit pads
Power FC
Innovative wideband

I'm sure there's more, but it's mostly nit picky random stuff. Here's a few pictures. I'll take more as we build

This is the car in question by the way. The rims will be different, stock with Mickey Thompson DRs all the time.

I love the direction you're going so far! What size tires are you going to try to fit on the stock wheels? Just keep us updated!

Looks good!

I can't decide if I want to do a "upgrade here and there" or a all at once big buildup.

nice! In my book, everyone that does anything to their FD deserves their own build thread.

I'm running chromoly trailing and toe links, but I had to get rid of the poly diff mounts. For me they transmitted and resonated way too much drivetrain noise into the cabin for daily driving. After about a year of making myself deaf, I bought new stock mounts. I'm using them with my Banzai brace, and this combination transmits almost no noise. I'm also using the Banzai motor mounts, which help reduce the rear-end hop, and broken PPF's. I'm just sharing my experience, and I can appreciate that people have different goals. By the looks of things - and that serious clutch - you're leaning more towards the drag part of that street/strip equation.

Keep us updated with the build and as always, include lots of pictures.

I've been talking about that, actually, and I'll probably end up with the FJ twin walbro setup.

Couple more pictures, and also forgot to mention the PFS diff cradle. Always a plus. Progress today, and a pretty picture of the manifold that came in today

Leave the idea of walbro behind you.

5xx RWHP is not an easy task to MAINTAIN.

The problem with walbro, is not their inability to flow the ammount of fuel needed, but they don't last very long.

Please think of switching to BOSCH or othe quality pumps.

I have seen too many motors fall victim to fuel starve thanks to walbro pumps.

I was PM'd by the OP about fuel systems.

If he chooses to repost the info on this thread, I think you will benefit from it.

But this is a build thread, not a random tech discussion thread.

If I was planning a drag racing fuel set-up I'd go for carding the least ammount of fuel on board as possible. (pump feeding a surge tank & a pump from the tank to the rails)

this makes me want to reccomend a 040 (or maybe 2 of them) feeding into a 1 gallon or larger surge tank & a 044 inline pump pulling from the surge tank, feeding the rails.

Are you opposed to a surge tank?

Also, I'd look into an excessive/ pineapple racing LIM

these have 4 injector bungs, instead of 2 like the OEM LIM's

you are trying to make 5xx on 4 injectors (can be done)

but the difference in fuel delivery from primary to secondary injectors is huge. You will be fighting the harsh transition between primary/ secondary injectors.

By adding more injectors, you can run smaller (closer matched injector sizes) this crests a smoother transition from primary to secondary

aiding in ease of tuning.

Now, for the injectors themselves...

From here on out, I will only run Injector Dynamics fuel injectors in my modified vehicles. They are so far beyond what everyone else has to offer.

Tuning:

most people when tuning wory about idle & WOT and don't focus enough time on partial throttle/ extreme load (this is what you see in the burnout box, when warming your tires)

I would say 90% of damage that occures to drag cars is actually done in this time frame

because, the fuel system is being loaded, unloaded then loaded again.

Having a well planned out fuel system that delivers the expected performance, without having to work overly hard is what you want.

Walbro will leave you broken and sad.

Feel free to PM me any questions you have regarding fuel systems, or you can post this response on your build thread to develope/ gain more information from other forum members.

I do not sell any products that I mentioned above, nor do I work for any of those companies. I just REALLY like their high quality products.

As strange as this sounds, I want to see your car up and running (with stories of how great these cars are) as you do.

But I also want those stories to last, so proper parts selection is key.

Because a successful machine is a sum of all it's smaller parts.

~ Jesse
Thanks for the info! For now, I am *slightly opposed to a surge tank, simply due to funding. Same applies to the LIM and additional injectors...for now. This may change by the end of the build, but I have one semester left of nursing school that I'll need to be focused on starting in a couple of months. Concerning the amount of fuel on board at any given time, I'm okay with racing with a half tank for the time being. I understand, however, that weight is one of the main concerns with drag racing, but it's also still going to see the street. Like I said though, the no surge tank fuel system is only for now.

Looks great, you will have to let know how difficult the T2 Diff swap out is, I've been debating if I want to do this or not. I have a Kaaz in there now but I don't like that it is 100% locking and I can't find anyone with the instructions to change the plate pack.
