thanks gordon.

i can't say it went perfectly. i had to contact chris ludwig for a Haltech problem i hadn't seen before (he is an old friend of mine and really knows his **** -- and i bought my Haltech through LMS-EFI.com).

i ended up having the crank sensors' green and yellow "+" and "-" wires swapped which made the base timing off ~15* and had the charge time on the LS1 coils at 3.0ms. so i swapped the wires around, got the timing zero'd, turned the charge time up to 5.0ms, and finally got it out on the street

i havent really messed with the timing from the base haltech map (which is at about 10* at 20 psi ---- ~10* lower than it should be) but it's running in the mid 10s AFRs at 10-11 psi and it's feeling pretty solid for an initial/rough first tune.

i think with correct ignition timing and mid 11's AFRs it will make over 350whp at 11 psi. over 400 at 15psi. the primary purpose for this car is HPDE / road course, so i will keep it at ~350whp, but i want to turn the boost up a little on the dyno to make sure it puts out what it "should" based on the turbo, porting, etc.

the rear brake pads are rubbing slightly, which nearly drove me insane yesterday.

going to inspect that tonight, and hopefully go do some more tuning and get the timing up to where it's supposed to be.

so the brake pads rubbing was only the tip of the iceberg.

the wheel bearing was so loose that the hub/rotor was all wobbling...

got that replaced!!! and we did the other side while we were at it.

i also broke the damn ABS speed sensor bolt. damn 20 year old cars.

threaded for a time-sert

boom

also made a new oil feed line with teflon hose

buddy's shop

yep. i bought it from him without the equips, aux injection, defi gauges, and avcr, and a damaged GTX35R.

he dumped stupid money into this thing.

so i sold some stuff that came with it, PFC/datalogit/HKStwinpower/SBGheadlights and got a haltech, LS1 coils, and the precision 6262.

planning to road race / HPDE the car.

well i dyno'd today and discovered the turbine housing is too small for this manifold/wastegate setup (turblown single wastegate style with tial mvr 44mm)

car made ~320whp at 11psi and 6000rpms before the boost shot up uncontrollably :/

as i expected, turbo location isn't exactly the same (but it's close).

wastegates didnt come in the mail today, so i can't drive it. now i have to wait til monday to get the downpipe altered at my buddy's shop.

I'm pleased to see the new manifold fit. We've been pumping a lot of them out the doors and nobody has had a single complaint yet.

gordon,

MV-S 38mm.

i was looking at the MV-R spring diagram when i put the springs in this one, unfortunately, so i have them setup for 14.5psi (needs to be down at 10 psi) so i have to take them back off and take one of the springs out. i'll post an update later.

took my wastegates off today to replace the springs. found some sweet exhaust leaks.

kind of pissed off at the moment.

so i either installed the vbands wrong, or the vband rings on the manifold are warped.

I might have forgotten to take the coatings off the vband flanges on the turbo manifold. If so it could cause an interference with the valve seats. Just use a wire wheel or worst case send it back to us. You could check for warpage on the flanges with a flat edge. I don't personally check that anymore, guess I will start again. I will call you Tuesday when we reopen.

I checked a few other manifolds here with a flat edge that were done in the same batch. None of them are warped.

got my lilliput high brightness double DIN touch monitor in last night (not fully installed and mounted, just sitting in there snugly at the moment) with the Pioneer mounting kit all the FD guys use. got all the stuff on amazon for a little under $300. we are very impressed so far:

the expanding foam didn't cure in 18 hours, so i ripped it out and made a "temporary" mount in the driver side bin, which is much cleaner
