Help? First time owning an 1993 Fd

Hello,

( I have limited tools, space, time, and place to buy stuff at. I live in Japan rn)
I have multiple problems with my Fd that I have found and not that much time for troubleshooting. One day it took a **** on me and lost all power, I got it back looked at some stuff and changed the spark plugs and noticed I have some solenoid that broke. I left it as it was because it started up just fine and ran amazing the whole time( before I had a rough idle then it would smooth out and back to rough) that might have fixed for that time being.Next day she didn’t run right with an extremely rough idle and smoked out the parking lot , I chopped up as a lost because i had vacation to get too. Got back and started the grind, first thing that check all the normal stuff(batt and fuses) all good. Tried starting it again to see if will replicate what I was feeling and hearing and didn’t want to start at all, jumped it with a portable jumper and started but same problem. After going through a lot I changed all the solenoid’s, vacuum lines, and spark again. Same thing, check fuel injectors good, fuel filter good, fuel pump good, rails good. Check compression good all in the 100psi range(cold).check spark plugs good, coil cables good, coil packs good, verified getting power good. All out of mechanical ideas so I try starting again didn’t start dead battery, I jump it starts rough, I’m checking everything I can think of, looks good give it a rev, pop? Did it just backfire at 1500rpm, try again, same thing. Fast forward I tinker with stuff and double, triple, quadruple check everything I can(referring to all the Manuels I have for a stockish Fd). I come back a couple weeks later from work, try starting it does start, dead battery and get a new one 75d23L stock battery. Slow crank, very confused, jump it cranks just fine. On a whim I check for power draw .11 amps with car off (still tracing the cables) unplugged fuses that where the problem, I can still start with out those fuses(verified on the diagram). I’m thinking good battery, I have mechanical(cleaned it up) and electrically check the starter, it should crank better right? Wrong!

long story short, I’m tired of the rats nest so ima single swap use turbo source turbo kit, it comes with fuel pump, fuel rail, injectors, ecu, turbo, etc. I am also getting a new starter because I do live in an area that gets cold and I plan on building this engine so it’s a purchase for the future. I’m hoping the new ecu can tell me the problem it’s having because I tried jumping ten and g/d on the obd port and I legit don’t have a check engine light(like a port for one or anything like that).

if anyone can help at all because I determined to find the problem before I swap it so I can have peace in mind for myself.

a suggestion.....

do nothing. sell it as is and buy a different car. based on what you're describing, you're wanting to dump everything and replace stuff instead of troubleshooting with the hopes that the problem will just go away. if this circumstance is overwhelming you and you have no where to take the car then you should not pursue further work. the next step that you're trying to take will take you DEEP DEEP DEEP into the weeds and it would be building on a problem that you have no idea what it is. you would be compounding problems. my advice is to either sell it as is, figure it out or take it somewhere to be fixed. you're in mainland... you have options

Take it to a rotary specialist* and get it running properly BEFORE you try to install a single turbo.

You can still get error codes from an JDM ECU. You just need a special tool to do it.

(*or any tuning shop that has experience with RX-7s, which a lot do, or call the Nagasaki Mazda headquarters and ask if they still have any techs who are highly experienced with FDs)

Get one of these from this seller:

https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/q1135244486

Check for a bad tank of gas.

Open up the ecu and see if the motherboards are pristine. Look for water damage.

Pick up a replacement ecu on Buyee/YAJ for Y10,000. swap it in and see if it helps.

Check your harnesses as they pass through the firewall, for damage.
