Modified my cheap bastard intake shroud to seal all the way to the underside of the hood using Damian's template and JB Weld. Pics to follow. Also, installed reflective insulation tape from DEI on my intake piping and the underside on the M2 intercooler duct.

Update:

Swapping to Bonez downpipe and a no name mid-pipe. The HKS downpipe that came on the car does not flow well enough because of the crimp to allow passage of the JDM steering column. I heat-wrapped the new Bonez downpipe and midpipe setup with DEI exhaust wrap secured with some DEI metal zip ties and worm clamps and coated the whole thing with the DEI silicone heat wrap sealant (coating not show in pics). I wasn't thrilled with the bottle neck created by the Bonez weld bead on the inside of the inlet, so I ground it down with a dremel (I like to call it port polishing, haha).

Using Damian intake shroud template, I cut the upper portion of the shroud and JB welded it to my Cheap Bastard Intake.

Any hose in particular? I replaced a few on the turbo side of the intake manifold.

I'm struggling for a solution to safely raise the motor to swap the motor mounts. With the car on stands it's 19" to the underside of the trans. My jack comes no where close to the trans at full lift. I could block it up higher but I don't want to risk my fingers if the jack slips off the trans. Any ideas? I see harbor freight has a trans jack, but it doesn't raise much over 20". Does anyone lend engine cranes? Other ideas?

This is what the duct looks like without the insulation.

Update Installed:
Greddy Ti Catback & Silencer,
Heat-wrapped Bonez Downpipe (really tight fit!!!!),
Custom Intake-shroud/AST Support Bracket,
DEI Insulation Intake Piping & K&N Air Filter,
Relocated Battery.

Also rerouted AST lines for relocated AST, switched to worm drive clamps and put in some fresh Prestone Pre-mix anti-freeze. Lastly, I managed to fit the hood prop over the SMIC duct by flipping it around kinking it with a vise and hammer.

Fired the it up tonight for the first time in months. Took a solid minute of cranking before it started but it started. Without the silencer it was insanely loud so I put in the silencer. The DEI heat wrap silicone sealant smoked its way to cure. All and all everything seems OK. Yet to have it on the street. Bringing the car to IRP for motor mounts and oil pan brace.

So, I snapped one of the only 2 remaining bolts holding the turbo heat shield on the car. Since it would be very inconvenient to remove the assembly/manifold to drill and retap, I am considering a turbo blanket. Has anyone has any luck with something like this? I see they sell through summit racing. Thanks.

Update:

KDR installed a 1995+ spec gas tank (new, last one in the country) and the Hyperion Surge Tank Cover.

I swapped power steering pumps with a newer one, 80k miles, and flushed with Mobil1 Synthetic ATF. Car feels hundred time better. My pump was creating heavy steering feel during quick low speed transitions, but no more.

I capped the OMP fresh air source nipple in the primary turbo inlet and put a mini air filter on the hard line to the OMP injectors (sitting right behind the air-pump-delete pulley).

Also, I did a corner balancing with my friend at his work, Johnson Scale in Caldwell NJ. Car weighted in at 2,625 lbs with a 1/8th tank of gas. My corner weights (with me in the car) are as follows. We got the ending cross weights dead even 1412/1412.

BEGINNING
FL 807 FR 673
RL 685 RR 660

ENDING
FL 778 FR 699
RL 713 RR 634

Lastly, I took it for an alignment this morning for some grip and stability adjustments. Final settings are as follows:
.................Camber/Toe/Caster......................Camber/Toe/Caster
Front Left... -2.7* / 0.1* out / 5.1* ......Front Right -2.6* / 0.1* out / 5.1*
Rear Left.... -1.9* / 0.1* in / na ..........Rear Right -1.9* / 0.1* in / na

I'll post my ride heights shortly.

Just finished the weekend in Georgia running the first 2010 SCCA Solo Nat'l Tour. The car feels amazing with new alignment, balancing, and ps pump! I spent most of the event chasing Chadwick and his co-driver, Brian (both nat'l champions). I am pleasantly surprised at how well the car was able to par up with their SSM monster without a custom built motor or upgraded diff (3rd of 9 entries, +0.74 sec from 2nd place). It'll take more time to feel more confident in the car and it's dramatically improved grip levels, versus my old home in an STi on street tires, but it is amazing how well the car is starting to feel. Video's of my runs (and numerous spins) will be posted on HamfistRacing.com soon.

EDIT: Also started running premix this weekend.

so are you gonna come out for solo/pro solo nationals? Always nice to have another rotary FD owner in the area, even if it is only for a week.

I will be there no matter what. Either in the FD (if it stays together all season) or the STI (if I can put it back together) or something else borrow. But, I'm def going to nats. Renting an RV and all. Gonna be sweet!

awesome! hope to meet ya there then, I've got most afternoons free from work and class so I should be floating around with a camera. Don't think my FD will be back together in time to take it out like I did last year (just drove there, didn't compete)
