Surprise surprise, I mounted another set of Fikse wheels

Technipolish Profil5, which are my true love that I knew I'd always come back to. Sizing in the front is the norm at 18x9.5 +38 while I did a little something different with the rears--- 18x10.5 +38 rear, then asked Fikse to shave a small amount of the backpad to yield an effective +44.

The idea was to allow a 295/30 rear tire out back with simply rolled fenders. Of course my power goals are a bit more sedate now, so I opted to pick up some RE-11 rubber in 255/35 front and 275/35 rear.

Future plan are leaning towards mounting a genuine '99 spec rear wing and possibly an RE street diffuser as well. I just can't get used to the wingless look, especially now that I mounted the five spoke Fikses. I know there will be a lot of people annoyed. Sorry

Also finally built the brand new engine I had picked up from Malloy some time ago. It was streetported (IRP Stage 3 of course) and ready to go for awhile now.

For internals, I went back and forth on a few things, but in the end settled on RXParts apex seals, Pineapple Racing heavy duty coolant seals and a Turblown tension stud kit. All else new OEM stock, including standard corner seals.

For this build I'm going back to a standard OEM mazda oil pan with pan brace and stud kit.

Also have an A-Spec single turbo kit arriving little by little...... it's funny, but in the end it's basically the same kit that I had on my VR FD at the end there. Go figure.

Precision PT6466 ball bearing unit, dual dumped Tial MV-S gates (this is a change, no more precision WGs), 3.5 inch downpipe, manifold and turbine housing covered in Inconel heatshielding. One other change is the provision for dual EGTs in the manifold runners.
Very nice Rich...very nice. Back to basics: a SOLID setup.

Regards,
Crispy

The Fikse Profil 5's look really good, with the 99 spec wing it will look mean. The turbo manifold looks so nice, makes me want to pull my turbo and swap my manifold.

Much thanks go to Austin Edwards and Craig Gibble at Enterprise Upholstery in Bel Air MD, (410) 893-9684. They delivered a very high quality product in a very short timeline

My brother had a set made with yellow perforations and stitching from Austin and we had a high roller custom shop do the padding work and put the covers on. Look and feel fantastic. They are what should have come from Mazda.

That engine bay looks so clean! The only thing I'm not feeling is that turbo coupler. Can't you get some one to make you a pipe? That's really small beans though. This car look awesome! I don't know if you're still engaged or not but I hope she is cool with the car hobby! I'd hate to see you lose this beauty.

rich, very nice!

you will love those RE-11s if you do any tracking. they get quire noisy when driven at the limit, so if you're a beginner they will help you gain confidence (i'm not sure how much tracking you've done). i love mine.

very nice update. and YES i'm with Fd3BOOST on the 90* coupler. fancy shop guy needs a 90* aluminum elbow!! (i'm hating, but i have a short 90* coupler on my vmic setup)

in for more updates!

Looks great Rich. Love the ATP heat shielding. Pricey stuff, but well worth it IMO.

Alberto, the V-mount is a custom one off (well, two off really) that was fabbed up by Sean over at A-Spec Tuning. The end tank design is supposed to help aid in airflow and help spool

It also comes with an M2 aluminum airbox that has been modified to work with the single turbo setup, which I plan to install soon (and loose the monstrous air filter, lol).

Do they have to have the seats or can they make those covers and ship them out?

Jacob,

You would think that... but because Richie poo doesn't make REAL power and hasn't experienced what happens to a 90* coupler on the compressor housing when running a proper amount of boost, he'll continue to use those playhouse Barbie 90* couplers!

Lol! Sadly...I have done this as well.

Heres to cryptic paint pen messages on the undersides of project cars!

Car looks great BTW

Damn that looks nice! I agree with Fd3BOOST on the piping but either its still very amazing! I love how the I/C looks and sits in the bay! I'll be taking some educational notes from this.
Excellent work!

Honestly guys, my main goal was to just get the car running and on the road, so the IC piping was a 'work with what you've got' kind of thing. The hot side IC piping is temporary, so those with their panties in a wad (esp the Gorilla RE special panties) can take a deep breath

Recently installed an AEM wideband, DEI fuel pressure/boost/oil temp as well as Exhaust Gas Technologies dual EGT setup in the manifold.

Plan is to hopefully get the car tuned for idle and driveability today, with the map provided by Mr. John Renna it runs pretty good as is

Also some portwork pics from a buddy's irons I was recently working on, basically identical to what's inside my engine

Some engine bay shots taken yesterday before street tuning

Plan is to move to a red oil cap (probably Mazdaspeed), red or black Tial Q BOV, and install either the red Auto Exe front strut tower bar that I had on this car before or install the Cusco Titanium front bar from my old VR FD.

Also need to clean up the vacuum hoses a bit, probably some more heat sleeving as well. Oh, and hook up the boost controller
