FD Fantasy

After almost 6 months without a street going FD, I purchased this Gem , my 5th FD !

A 2002 Series 8 FD , Re-amemiya shop built , 20,100kms on the clock.

Quick photo of the engine bay , details to follow. The owner had no idea of power figure but I'm assuming high/mid 300 close to 400hp

Ive only just got the car home, it did the whole trip without a hitch, i couldn't be more happy with it. It just needs a solid clean now !

Im Looking forward to cleaning up the engine bay , re-pairing the front lip and the spoiler (can anyone confirm what this spoiler is?). Removing some interior gauges and the red seats. Putting in my momo steering wheel.

Performance wise ill be throwing my Mazdaspeed power plant frame , banzai diff brace and banzai gearbox brace straight in ! Also some goodies from previous cars engine https://www.rx7club.com/build-thread...ld-nz-1055689/ will eventually make their way under the bonnet !

This is my 5th FD and considering its the first I've ever had with Air-con I'm looking forward to road trips this summer !

Update #1

First update i wanted to tackle this spoiler.
Originally i didn't like the spoiler from photos before purchasing but I've grown to like it and decided to keep it.
It actually works quite well and kept the car planted during the huge 3 day road trip, i was impressed.

Until it rained and the spoiler mounts filled up with water and started crying all over the back of the car with this yellow pee stream.

Both mounts had cracked , either from age and i think the tension the wire in the centre puts on it, it doesn't help.

Time to take them off , which wasn't easy at all. they were stuck on there solid !
Name: IMG_5247_zpskujmmzbo.jpg
Views: 659
Size: 127.9 KB

Removing the centre wire mount was a bit tricky , managed to damage only one plastic mount of the boot plastics.

Full of water :S

The centre wing part is in perfect conditong because its made out of the alloy , but I'm not sure if these can be repaired , it seems this side has already been filled with resin in attempt to repair it.
Name: IMG_5238_zpsejwa0lkk.jpg

I really like this spoiler, even if its just to use for events to give the genuine JDM look. Ideas on repair community?

Update #2.5

I was lucky enough to get a ride in Mark Strawbridges Crazy Rx2 , full slicks all 4 corners. this was a wild ride! never been in a NA car before, he pinned the engine the whole time !

Next track day is the first weekend of Feb the famous RE-Union down in taupo, So I've been getting my car ready for that and written out some plans so she's track ready.

-Ill be swapping over the engine blocks with the old builds block and goodies https://www.rx7club.com/build-thread...ld-nz-1055689/ Its has lightened & balanced rotors , side clearanced with 2mm atkins apex seals & solid corner seals.
-The Len Bacon alloy gated sump on there too , along with the IRP stainless oil filler neck which will connect to a Radium catch can.
-It also has the Re Amemiya edition OS Giken twin plate clutch and flywheel combo with carbon kevlar plates which i need ! i love this thing it hooks up !
-The Full function trigger wheel will have to go for now until i upgrade the ecu.
-I have the HKS Vmount there too which i don't think ill use and will sell.
-Also I want to get a Radium surge tank and CM motorsports fuel hanger combo to secure fuel supply.
-Im looking to get rid of the Mazdaspeed carbon look dash pieces and Mazdaspeed carbon handbrake if anyone interested PM me, quite a rare setup even has the matching drivers door trim.
- Putting in my drift FDs bucket seat for the track day
- Painting up a set of Ganador mirrors i have had for years now
- Selling my Spirit R brake set aswel if anyones keen PM me

So yeah! I have a bit of work to do !

This build thread is great so far, I'm glad I took a peak inside

Pity about the rear wing, it's actually pretty damn cool. Thanks for sharing all the awesome pics, that rotorsports FC in particular is nuts

Nice car!

These guys make a PanSpeed wing that might be a suitable replacement for yours, if you feel the OE '99 is too tame:
