Fc3spowa's FD build thread
Figured I would make a build thread now that things are starting to pick up.
I got this '93 Touring a few weeks ago. The day she got home

Also came with a few extra parts..

Two complete REW's, trans, boxes and boxes of parts
Tan leather + grease = lots of hours with some lexol, it's cleaning up well though

Efeni wheel and pettit boost gauge/pod

VIS scoot style cf hood, still need to get headlights the car had frog eyes on it. Covered in water that's why it looks weird, the hood is getting recleared soon though

B&M shifter with RE ****

Got some BC coils

Also got this

This came in today

-Atkins A rebuild kit
-New oil control ring springs
-OEM cryogenically treated side seals
-OEM corner seal w/plugs
-ALS apex seals
The housings look amazing, almost zero wear on the irons and they're already ported, and the rotors/bearings look superb. I'm still waiting on a parts washer and engine stand adapter to come in before I can clean everything real good and assemble the motor. I'm also waiting on a set of stock twins/manifold/y pipe which I'll be using for the next couple months while I finish the single setup.
Plans now:
-Finish motor
-Sell ms02's to fund some VS-XX's
-Finish cleaning up interior
-Get car running and broken in
-Finish doing a full detail on the paint
I'll have more pics up in the next couple days as I finish organizing all the parts and finish building a new workbench. I will be documenting the rebuild, as well as my journey to the 500 club
And how she's sitting currently, no motor, trans or diff in yet

I also have an exedy clutch in the mail and some other small things
I still need to order intercooler pipping for the front mount, a bov, misc. hoses and stuff, plugs etc. I'm hoping to have it running in the next couple weeks though

Lol, I didn't really like it at first but it's growing on me. I'm going v mount so it will at least serve a purpose
Close, I'm a town over; Brooksville. I'm in SH all the time though
I know I'm slacking on the pics, been cleaning all the motor parts the past couple days and been pretty busy. Trying to find a truck to borrow to go get some wood for a bench. I'll try to get some more pics up today of everything. Any comments, suggestions, criticism etc. would be appreciated
But I did get something recently that should make things a little easier..

Here's a quick pic that I took yesterday of how the rotors are looking, the other one is almost done as of this moment

Here's a few pics of the housings.

I'm going to assume this housing is automaticaly trash, has a chip missing at the spark hole

Does anyone know what this is?

Opinions? The pictures do exaggerate all the marks, none are able to be felt with your finger/nail, in person they look a hell of a lot better. I'm concerned about the burn marks by the exhaust ports and the spark plug holes.
One set is close to a mirror finish, but there are some chatter marks which are justt able to be felt. The other set is completely smooth but has more of a mat finish, it also looks like the exhaust ports were ported
What's also weird is that two of the housings are stamped on the top with a F on one and a R on the other, and the other set, the ones with the 'tags' by the plugs, have nothing.

Question. Are the rear B pillar panels different between cars with rear seats and bins? Reason I ask is because the car came with bins but they weren't installed, and looking at it they don't seem like they'd really fit. My B pillar panels have provisions for rear seat belts so I wasn't sure if they were compatible or not
the "nickel" that looks like its glued to a housing is an overheat warranty marker. when you overheat the engine that piece comes unglued and falls off, thus voiding warranty
No. ****. I live a mile from there. He's cool as hell
Thanks
Heading down to Kilo racing this morning to drop off the motors to get prepped

Ordered this tonight

Precision 6266, t4 1.00 divided with a SP cover. Going on a custom mani I have. Next to order is a wg and standalone. Hoping to have the motor done in the next 2 weeks

you will love that 6266.
i personally have a 6262 journal bearing, and it is very responsive and makes plenty of power.
i made 320whp at 11psi on a dyno dynamics. yours should have slightly worse response, but more power.
and these turbos sound crazy.

Now the question is, which standalone..? I have had two microtech lt8s's in FC's and liked them, plus I have a place to have it tuned not far away. But for some reason I'm undecided. Looking at an Adaptronic and also a Haltech ps1000 setup. Opinions?
Started mocking the turbo up. I got a custom t4 manifold with the car and was curious how everything would fit. Turns out it's prefect! Still not sure what I'm doing about the wastegate. I have to measure it to see if it's a 50mm or a 44mm. If it's a 44 I might chop off the vband and go twin 38's because I've seen creep issues with the single 44. If it's a 50 I'll probably just keep it how it is.

With the front cover and everything else on, still clears with some room to spare!

I'm getting a ACT stage 3 clutch and XT pressure plate from a buddy of mine for a good deal so that solves my clutch issue. Now I just need to do the fuel system and some other odds and ends and I'll be in bidness

that manifold looks terrible. the wastegate runners are coming in at a backward angle. i will be surprised if it doesn't creep.
also, your question about the EMS: definitely haltech. ultimately though, it's really all dependent on who you're having tune it and who you can get local support from. we have a lot of haltechs in my area and i personally have a lot of experience with haltech. the new platinum series are very very nice. they definitely cost more than the adaptronic though.

I don't know why the one picture stopped working..
Yes, I agree completely. But the manifold was free, so, I guess I can't complain. It is not permanent, I will be building my own manifold in a month or two.
I'm leaning more towards the Haltech. Adaptronic would be nice because of all the features but I'm not sure of many[read: any] people around here that are fluent in them. I know people that can tune Microtechs all day long on rotaries, I just feel like there are better options out there though.
Yes, it clears. It was in the car with a similar sized precision on it before the motor blew a coolant seal
I may just chop off all the wastegate plumping and go twin 38's, that way it can actually be routed correctly
