CYM Restore

I wish I was driving!
So after many attempts I finally found my vacuum leak. I’m not using an injector diffuser on my secondary injectors, therefore when I added the injector o-ring, the injector o-ring sat too far down in the LIM. With the injector o-ring sitting down in the LIM this created a gap between the fuel rail and LIM. I resolved this issue by adding additional o-rings. I was able to find this leak by using a homemade smoke test.
The car idles so much better.
Another exciting news is I was able to get AC working kinda. The ac blows cold but it is on a manual switch to activate the compressor. For whatever reason, the AC relay is not working like it should. From what I understand, when the AC switch is pressed, it supposed to complete a ground which turns on the AC compressor. This is not taken place on the car for whatever reason. I’m currently on a PFC and tried to using a stock ECU and didn’t have any luck. I know about the trick about adding an additional relay and there is one there from the previous owner.
Next steps, remove old tint, get new tint on and figure out why my AC switch is not working like it should.

8/30 - picked up the car from the painter.
9/6 Assembled the car from 8:00 pm to 1:30 am. Back up at 5:00 to finish up and wash both the CYM and CW in prep for Cars and Coffee. Hung out at C&C, ran some errands and dropped off the car for tint. Old tint had to come off and got tint all around.
Super stoked on how the car turned out.

Still need to tidy up and few things and install Shine 99 sides and SBC finished RPF1s.

Got a new center grille as the other one old and crusty looking.
Also got new door sills as the old ones were scratched and most of the mounting points were gone.
In the process of installing an OEM head unit. The previous person that installed, cut the wires instead of using an adapter kit. If this happened to you, you can order this piece.
While installing the radio, I decided to tackle this mess. Really hoping I don’t regret removing the keyless entry and aftermarket alarm system. This security stuff scares me and I just hope it starts when I’m done.
Looking forward to installing the following items from garage alpha
· Titanium strut nuts
· Titanium rx7 badge
· Floor mats

^ thanks.
Good news I was able to remove the alarm and key less entry and the car still starts!
However when I lock the car from the outside and unlock it, the alarm goes off and the only way I'm able to turn it off is to disconnect the battery. Any reason why this is happening?

^ i thought i resolved it but still having issues.
Been driving the car on the weekends some and been planning on some big changes.
I need some more funds though. Been trying to sell some random stuff I have laying around. Check it out here: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...1140510/page2/

With a new decade beginning comes a new goal and a new setup. A week from now I plan on buying an integral part of my new adventure which is a 4 rotor setup. I bought my 2nd part yesterday which was S5 NA rotors. The first part was a IRP AMP alternator. Wasn't planning on buying this but I got a great deal locally.
High-level plans is a street friendly NA 4 rotor.
When I say street friendly, here is what I’m thinking
Engine setup
Goal is to have everything running and functional for DGRR 2021
First couple of big task include

When I say street friendly, here is what I’m thinking
- Idles below 1k rpms
- OEM clutch pedal feel
- Power steering
- Heat and AC
- Leverage OEMs rubber engine mounts
Engine setup
- Majority of the parts will come from two new REW engines
- Will sell the rotors and acquire 4 S5 NA rotors and use the hard seals from the S6 rotors
- Rotating assembly balanced
- Street-port side port
- Custom oil feed to bearings
- Wet sump. Don’t want to have to deal with external pump and oil reservoir
- Upgraded mechanical water pump
- Upgraded radiator and fans, thinking I may use Rx8 fans
- I currently have dual setrab oil coolers but I think I have the smaller ones and will be upgrading to the larger ones
- Pump gas
- Primary injectors only
- Custom rail
- ITB or plenum
Goal is to have everything running and functional for DGRR 2021
First couple of big task include
- Buy new engines and have them at the shop by Jan 17th
- Buy eshaft
- Porting, iron machining, rotors matched weighted and ready for balancing by May

Just for the record. I have the rx8 fans, and I'm not convinced they're an upgrade from the FD fans. They do the job and look nice, anyways. Anything with sane side ports should be pretty streetable. Do people make wet sumps for the 4 rotor? A custom pan is probably not too big a deal to fab. To get the power plant low and back in the bay you may need the dry sump setup. God Speed.

^ not sure on the 4 rotor wet sump question but I plan on getting a custom pan made and leveraging the stock oil pump. Engine will be mounted in the same place. That way I don't have to clearance the firewall, get a custom drive shaft made and make new mounts for the transmission. I know it's not ideal from a weight perspective but I think it will be fine for the street driving that I do.

The Ancient
This is going to be a great build, Johnny, and really pretty straightforward. Could actually get done in a year!

Coming up on a year anniversary on the car. Looks like I've put around 3k miles on it within the year. The car currently has around 55k miles.
Pic from a couple of wknds ago.
Jan accomplishments
- 4 rotor shaft ordered
- acquired 4 S5 NA rotors
- acquired two new REW engines from IRPerformance
Hopefully a month from now we will have some porting complete.
