so this car is "broken". it has recently become VERY evident that it needs a fuel system upgrade on the now. i dont think im going to be driving this car again until i get a fuel system together. on hand i already have a top feed rail, fpr, bosch 1680 and oem 550. all i really need is the fittings and lines to use the kit then i can go for a re tune. im debating whether or not to use it though. the 550 primary is an absolute, im talking about the bosch. before i swap out these injectors, i will be getting them cleaned and flow tested and all that so i know they will be at as peak performance as they can be. im trying to keep running costs somewhat low for this car without cheaping out. i dont intend on keeping it, so if the new owner wants to go wild with new parts then he/she can do so.
im swaying towards just using this set up though. its old, yes but it does and will work just fine for my needs. i would much prefer to use 2000s in the secondary rail and ID725 in the primary but a whole top feed set up with injectors and fittings would run quite a bit and thats all resources that are being taken away from the blue car..... which is the primary FD in my life =D

Wait for a good deal on a proper fuel system. 550's just aren't good enough if you want to make the big numbers. I suppose if you're selling the car than it doesn't matter all that much, but you may get more money for a car that's "done" instead of one that is nearly there.

Nothing happened. It did what it always does. It's just after driving around the blue fd for a while, this car's short comings have been made more apparent. Now I have something to compare it to and it just doesn't feel right. So I label it "broken".
im not looking to make big power. im not a big power kind of guy. i just want to make reliable and consistent power while keeping the car somewhat civilized. neither of the FDs are daily drivers but it would be nice to not have to get gas every other time i drive the car. if i can swing a little better fuel economy then thats just a plus. honestly, i think no matter the configuration of the car when it comes time to sell it, i believe the new owner will want to change a lot. the fuel kit that will end up on this car, whatever it will be, may or may not be enough or what the new owner will want. theres no real way to know. im just going to put the car together the way i see acceptable and roll with that.

a little update i guess... the ac problem that plagues some power fc users, to include this car, i attempted to fix.
https://www.rx7club.com/power-fc-for...ng-fix-997129/
i wont know if it works or not until friday when i drive it again. hopefully it does. i have the same symptoms as the pfc ac problem outlines. so hopefully the fix works for me. its been 90+ for the past couple weeks and i only drive the car once a week but that one time is brutal. my seating position doesnt get a lot of air flow on my face. so once i stop moving, i die. then i start moving again and i come back to life a little bit. its just a vicious cycle of death and revival. im hoping thats done and over with now.

the fix worked....
in other news, i had a change of heart. i will be 1j swapping this car instead of the blue one. the motor in this car will be coming out, getting rebuilt and put in the blue car and the 1j plan will proceed with this one instead. more details to come on that later

it feels like i just put this motor in and here i am with it back out and on the ground. no worries, it came out pretty easily. this was my first time pulling the motor and transmission as an assembly. this was way easier than dropping the transmission first. this engine will live on in the blue car but in much better form. this weekend i am hoping to have it on the engine stand and fully disassembled. hoping to break it open by next next weekend. after this, the regular updates will be posted on my norotors build thread.

A shame???? No no no no, it's still gonna be the same car on the outside and the inside. Just under the hood will be more practical. Once this car has its 1j, I'm thinking about making it a daily driver. A clear bra and a few other dd modifications and this will be perfect. It's gonna have ac and one of the most reliable engines known to man. The chassis mileage is gonna go all the way up if I do but whatever. The car will tainted anyway with its 6 CYLINDERS that anyone looking to buy it in the far future probably won't care anyway. This is for the best

At the end of the day, I totally get why you're doing it...we've all been there and said to ourselves: "man I wish this car was reliable and normal sometimes" -- I know your motives. I just can't get onboard with putting a 2J...err 1J in it.
All the same, I wish you the best of luck and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Bwahahahahahah!!!
If you sell the FD, that will free up the cash to buy a 1992 MK3 JDM 1JZ-GTE Supra, all the drab lame mediocrity you are striving for with none of the wiring problems. Lots of people with good homes out there looking to adopt...
Other than 5 speed drift cars, and Supras, every car with a 1J or 2J is sold for scrap prices in Japan because of rubbish fuel economy and always having computer/ignition, and MAIN CRANK problems. They are awful and no one wants them. They don't even stack up to a 13B for a daily, much less an LS if defacing the FD is your goal.
