Intake Manifolds
Cleaned and ready for whatever I decided to do with them. Not sure if I will polish them. I like the raw look. We'll see.

ChipsMotorsports.com Rocks!

So, after what felt like a completely useless purchase; I have finally been revived! Chips Motorsports offers a service to nitrate irons to fix step wear, as well as, fix collapsed water jackets. Prices are very reasonable relative to what I paid for the motor, and what I would have lost to have just keep these things paperweights.

Irons before:

Irons after:

Added some freeze plugs here and there:

This picture really shows the step wear on the irons

Here you can see the coolant jack almost completely collapsed. It looked like this everywhere.

Gordon, yea I'm really happy at how the irons came out and an very glad that they were repairable. At a certain thickness of step wear they aren't repairable. As far as the intake manifolds go I've decided to have Chip make a custom sheet metal intake manifold for me, so I won't be using the stock intake manifolds even though they look so good.

lol I love you guys. I want it, I really do. All my monies are going to finishing this motor and buying wheels though, and I really want to buy a SR20 S14 to drift with my buddies because there's no way I'm drifting the FD when it's done. haha

Maybe I'll sell my RE-A kit?!?!?

Can you tell me where you had that done? I'm only asking because metal platers are rare to non-existent in the bay area, but a source local to you might be a reasonable alternative.

I sent my stuff to ChipsMotorsports.com in Michigan. Private message to_slow here on the forums, or check out that website. The laws in Cali are so strict I don't think there are many platers here at all, and the few here are super expensive due to the stricter EPA regulations that they have to abide by. :/

Irons
Chips Motorsports reaming of oil feed to the bearings.
-8 with o-ring groove for a leak proof setup, not pipe threaded like other builders out there.

Because I'm also running a Mazdaspeed dry-sump system Chip will be doing some trick stuff that I'll post later, so stay tuned for some rotary related **** that you've never seen done to a rotary before!

Thank you sir. There's no turning back. I've set my mind to building a 20b race car, and it'll be done! haha

Some more custom work from Chip. 20B rear oil pedestal with direct feeds for main bearings. -10 in with -8 outs. It is machined for turbo feeds and temp and pressure probes for later on down the line when we get to mounting the snail.

I also ordered 3 brand new OEM S5 rotor housings and 3 brand new S4 Low comp rotors. They are on backorder, and Mazda Japan says it'll be about 2 months before they get here. No worries, it'll give me time to save up for a rebuild kit and some apex seals.

I grew up with my dad and uncle building muscle cars (both engineers like myself), so I turned to them for what to do on this step of the process since they've built all their cars from the ground up. Anyway, there goes $400. haha
