Wasn't there another Spirit-R replica in black a while back? I remember a story about it being sold and was totaled at some point. Perhaps it was the other way around.

If I remember correctly, it wasn't very complete but it did look nice.

the black one, it was indeed sold then wrecked. someone on the forum bought it tried to fix it and failed, thus trying to sell the car here a few months back. sadly that didnt work and it was parted out.

Your door panel looks really nice. Is it covered in leather?

It's vinyl but it's actually caused some problems

I was going to ask the same question because that really caught by eye a few weeks ago, it's really nice. What kind of problems has it caused? I'd like to do something like that (aka copy) eventually, but might as well know the +/-'s if you don't mind.

Thanks

The stitching on the bottom parts is to thick and has chipped the paint by the door sill. I'm going to have the bodyshop go over the car again and fix all the chips. After that I'm going to clear bra the whole bottom area of the door jamb and other parts where cars are prone to getting rock chips. I hope this works. Rich also had problems getting the door plastics to go in effortlessly. He had to hulk it a little with his powerlifting prowess.

Hey Supernaut, Great build! I can only begin to guess at how many hours you have had to put into it, The hard work and attention to detail really shows through. Love it!

My factory Spirit came with a tough coat along the bottom of the guards/doors/rear fender and it appears to prevent the chipping quite well. If you want any detailed pictures or measurments of anything let me know and I will be happy to oblige

Cheers
Aaron

Thanks man.

Yea the place you mention I want to clearbra . Thanks for the offer for the measurements and pics. I could have used your help with the location of the engine bay tag but I recently got that! If you have time a second set of pics could be nice!

No worries mate, I'm not sure if these dimenions will help, If not just let me know where to measure and we'll figure it out

I think if you calculate the difference between our ride hieghts and add/subtract the difference it should give you an accurate measurement

Ground to top of rear wheel arch: 655mm
Ground to top of front wheel arch: 640mm
Ground to top of paint protection behind front wheel: 345mm
Ground to top of paint protection forward of rear wheel: 370mm
Ground to top of paint protection behind rear wheel: 395mm

You can kind of see the line down the side of the car in the photo's, The fender vent isn't coated and there is coating behind the rear wheel but it doesn't continue on to the rear bumper. The coating itself is severly orange peeled in texture, it reminds me of underbody sealer only clear. If I had the choice I'd go with a smooth protection, The factory protection looks disgusting up close haha

I also measured the Spirit plate on the firewall. If your standing at the front of the car facing the firewall it should be 48.5mm up from the lip and 239.5mm to the right hand rivet from where the firewall meets the inner wheel well panel.

Confused? I am

Exas III my good man. They are a fairly tight fit, But just clear the door trims. I have also lowered the drivers seat as far as possible as my helmet was rubbing the roof lining. I'm only 5'9 lol.

Supernaught: Glad I could help mate! Any other Q's let me know

Cheers
Aaron
