Not much of an update today. the roll bar install took practically the whole day.

i got a little fed up with the fd so i took some time to work on the garage... i ended up picking up a storage bin from home depot to organize my drill bits. i dont have a lot, but recently got a few from a estate sale. since it was all clustered in a bin i though id sort them for easy access!

test fitted the roll bar and made the cuts...................
pass side rear

dr side rear

pass front

dr front

so i took the roll bar out and sanded down the old paint and hit it with some white rustoleums.. buttt by the time i got to spraying it got dark. and cold. it didnt fully dry but i had to take it inside so i have some finger prints on them. ugh. i hate painting. and on top of that i ran out of paint. so tomorrow i will have to wet sand a little and spray the last few coats.

I still need to make a bracket for the relays and figure out a lid system for the rear bins to allow easy access to the battery, fuses, and relays. thennnnnnnnnnnn i can assemble everything back together! but im not sure what im going to do about the rear plastics bc of the roll bar. it seems like a pita to have them so i might hack them up some.....

You might want to weld some 1/4" (at least) baseplates to the floor of the car for the rollbar to bolt through. That would make it stronger.

I think my cage has 3/8" plates at all mounting points.

I like the mounting points for the roll bar. Should come out nice and clean.

collin it would make it stronger but i dont wanna weld anything... i will add another plate to the underside which will clamp the chassis in between when its bolted.

tom- same, but i feel like it will be a pita to bolt when the plastics are in

No need for 1/4" but yea, it def. wouldn't hurt some some 1/8" plate.

Thanks phil!

mid day update. frankenbins. please excuse my photography, i have no idea how to use flash.

template for lid sponsored by abercrombie and fitch!

skip a few steps, lid with lip since i had to cut down into the bins to full access the battery and fuse box.

reusing the hinges (ones not attatched) just test fitting)

now to spray the bins black to bring them black to life.
finish painting the roll bar
upholster the bin lid.
start assembling interior plastics/dash!

side note
(not making the relay bracket anymore. issue with getting gas for the mig welder and i dont really care to make one lol)
also the aem water meth doesnt fit behind the pass side bin so it will go back to its original location. im going to fit my amp inside there instead, so the bins are strictly electronics.

bubble tech custom bins on!

annnd just for fun, my liquid crack. the only thing that gets me through to finish this damn car...

no ribs so no stitching.. im a little upset as id rather it will ribs. im not really sure how to upholster so idk if the material i was using was too thick or what but the sewing machine couldnt handle it and i ended up breaking 2 needles before calling it quits..

it doesnt look as good in person so please dont look too closely ahhaha.. in the pics its raised a bit because i made the bottom a little too thick, but once it breaks in and some weights applied it sits quiet nice!

Thanks! but dont be fooled. there is also dash pieces in the family room, side skirts in the computer room, my front wheels in the basement, and some misc in my room. plus alllllllll the crap in the garage. its AMAZING how much room i just opened up in my garage. its mind blowing how much space there is when my cars not all apart and pieces arent scattered throughout...

Thanks! hahah it definitely cant hold weight it will cave and break. its just meant to be a fooler, and look decent plus itd be impossible to sit back there will the roll bar installed....

SPEAKING OF ROLL BAR........****.

Kirk roll bar FTL. what a pain in the ***. i had to hack the rear plastics and was such a PITA i just over cut them cuz i was pissed and didnt feel like cut test cut test. i will probably fab something later on where the bar wont go through the plastic and ill be easier to remove/install. (plus the roll bar needs to get powder coated pink when i have some looot)

so ive been working on the car for about 6 days. ive been to home depot every day for the past 5 days. spray seemed to be on the list everytime even though i bought more then i needed. this is a pic of my spray paint supply wall.

I still ran out. so i got fed up. New stock...

Econo shizz. best stuff. 97 cents, sprays on thin, drys fast. love it.

What happens when you're working furiously. mad house...

and "cleaned" hahahahahah

My headunit harness! soo effing sweet. i wish i took a pic of my old one. 1000x better.

gay subs. when i get money ill get a new one (digital design 8")

INTERIOR!!!

o0o0o0o0 double din!

New battery setup!

Worlds dirtiest rx7. and its not a lay of dust. its CAKED on.

(continued stinking limit for pics!)

FINALLY get to cross some stuff off the list!

Next on the list. fix the gauge cluster i beasted. i need to fix all the tabs tomorrow and will probably start pulling some engine stuff. Just ordered a pineapple rotary adapter, now i gotta just buy a stand lol. the motor in the car now will be my "spare"

still need to get more gas for the mig welder.. will probably pick up another tank of pure argon so i can do some aluminum as well.. need to start fabbing the VMIC...

Now should i hack up my greddy fmic core or just get an ebay brand?? suggestions?

I'm 50/50 on hacking up my greddy FMIC as well haha.. It's about 2 inches too large on both sides for what I want to do with it. The greddy will be a better intercooler hands down. They're just more efficient. Wish I could afford a nice ARC intercooler with rounded veins..that'd be nice.

I think the monkey bar looks bad *** in white. If it was me, I would leave it like that. If you must have pink on it, I would either put pink foam or paint the nuts and bolt pink.
