Yeah I grinded it flush then welded inside and out can't believe it leaks

I was talking about the nipple on the t-stat cover.... in the pic it has what looks to be a vacuum cap and clamp on it.

I've noticed on many builds, people put the reflective heat tape on the LIM's. It seems like a good idea, but does this stuff really stay on that well?

I tourqed everything to Mazda specs for my side seals I went on my own. Instead of using the feeler gauge keeping the side seals between .017and .044 I trimmed them enought where they move freely than but weren't tight.

Motor has superb compression now can't wait till break in if its at 117-120 Just imagine another 3-5psi end of break in .

Update I fixed the rear iron leak from the crappy weld. What I did was tap and drilled it for a future gauge or waste gate cooling line woot woot. My oil leak ends up been a loose turbo feed line lol . No smoking stays at 83 degrees at idle fOr long periods of time.

Your FC from back in the day inspired me so much when I had mine, now your FD is doing the same thing for me and my FD. Nice job and I love the DIY-ness.

Ok to start off I know Fris from lucky7 since 2005 we have always done business and transactions since then but never though he will take care of me like he did. Until recently my series of events and career change has left me in a troubled situation.

Those that followed my build thread know I do all of my work. Thanks to Fris and Dave-RIP everything I know about rebuilding and porting is thanks to them. So I was building a monster streetported ALS sealed motor for my FD due to my previous stock ported 350whp motor breaking a few seals and trashing my turbo.

I will not name the shop due to their careless and shitty customer service that sold me a porting template. I recieved what was considered a "mild street port" template . So I went to town porting little did I know that porting template was a little on the large streetport side and I ended up screwing with the Side seal track.

Fast forward to my build I did it all by myself from pulling the motor, rebuilding, to dropping it back in by myself. She fires up the first try compression was 120s idled great and then it happened!!!! She died. Side seal broke seals went to ****, rear iron and front are trashed.

So i dropped close to $2500 in brand new parts for this build and lost it in less than 10 mins. I didnt even drive the car.

My luck this happens in the worse time.
1- I am moving out of my old house and putting everything in storage
2- I am reporting to a diffrent base for special military duties.
3- I dont have no time to even change the oil in my car if i had to, due to school, work, driving, and family life.

Fris aka -Lil Red- with his kind heart picked up my car the day after. Knowing he had no room he still did. Then it went on to the tear down where I lost half the motor in damages. Quickly we sticked to a plan and executed.
1- picked up my car over 100miles away
2- tear down
3- sourced a middle iron for me
4-rebuilt it
5- trouble shooted another issue with my turbo

But my credits dont stop there.

Francisco Declet aka FJDRX7
gave me a set of front and rear irons for FREEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

not only has he saved my *** but he has in the past too. When my motor blew he sold me a rotor and housing for practically shipping cost!!!!!! to help me and a fellow service member out.

So to recap everything for those that dont want to read the story.

Guy blows motor,
guy rebuild motor a lot of money spent
guy gets wrong template and screws porting up
guy blows motor wasting over $2500 plus parts and 10 days of leave vacation
Guys friend come to his rescue and helps him
Guy writes a cute story about friends.

Thanks to
Fris C
Francisco D

I WILL POST NEW PICS OF THE REBUILD TO THE REBUILD OF THE REBUILD

Alex... hang in there bro. Not sure if you remember, but I stopped you last year on your way out of Sevenstock at Buttonwillow just to say Hi! Sorry to read about your bad run of luck, but it looks like things are turning around. Hope to see you at this year's SS event again!!
