BLUE TII... Love ya, buddy, but the NA 20b is a torque motor compared to a 13b single turbo. Its one of the main reasons for owning one.

Thanks for the love.

Here is a dyno of my last single turbo 13B.

NA 20B torque is 100ftlbs down from stock sequential of same hp output and as you can see 200 ftlbs down from a single turbo set up.

NA 20B is reliable!

I want one so I can always race instead of working on my damn car!

I'm sad to hear you selling it , and if I had the money i'd probably pick it up .. 350 whp seems like just a ton of fun at the track . without the whole overheating / hot intake air temp issueso f a turbo .

Yes!

Don't waste your time. I have beaten this argument to death.

Either way, if it makes sense financially to sell it, move it. Never get emotional with money, one of the best lessons I ever learned. I was rooting for you the whole way, but with more money you can always have another.

No, but I understand what you are saying from driving/racing NA V8s.

I do like the "pure" feel of NA tip in throttle response.

Not sure why these apples to oranges single turbo comparisons always come up. Everyone builds a car to their liking. Im terms of overall power and torque forced induction will always win. The efr turbos are something ridiculous but, please understand those turbos didn't excist back when most of us decided to go the NA route. The 9180 will definitely be going on my 20b sometime in the future. In the mean time, Im gonna enjoy the NA goddness.

I have a friend with one . She adores it , before she had a TT13b and she says nothing like it .

What I take from it is the reliability aspect and yes ofcourse a turbo car even in the twin turbo setup I feel the balooning of the turbo spool as it fills up the baloon that is out intercooler and everything else .

The truth is thats what mazda SHOULD have made the FD should of had 2 trims like the cosmo ..

20b , and 13btt

I suggest keeping it and selling the trans (go standard t56) and go back to the stock brake setup.

Then you have a pretty cool track/weekend car.

Here is the thing, I was responding to this.

So, it may seem out of the blue in context to this thread, but something that has been rolling around in my head for the better part of the year. I believe I will be selling the car. . It would be easiest to sell the car complete, but I may consider selling a "drivetrain package" (Engine/trans/ecu/wiring) so someone could basically bolt it in their car and go.

I am saying, if he isn't over the moon with it sell it.

He can always pick up a clean low miles FD in stock/near stock condition if he gets a hankering for another FD.

He already said his car was a little too "race car" for him with the gearbox and basically that is the only way the NA 20B can match the performance of the sequential twins with the same hp (power under the curve).

A stock sequential FD drives pretty nice, doesn't cost bank and any real mechanic with the factory manual can keep it running well.

Well I don't know Lennys cost but, I'm sure it's up there. If it was purely a hp quest, there's hundreds of other ways to get to these levels for much cheaper. Aftermarket NA 20b is virtually non existent. So with anyone trying to squeak out the maximum potential of a NA 20b is gonna spend a small fortune in all the R&D that's involved. It's the road less travelled so when you acheive certain results, it's very gratifying. There's no kits and nothing off the shelf on these types of project so they become extremely unique when finished. I wish Lenny all the best with his buisness venture but at the same time, I hope he finds a way to get his car.

Yep, price is about half of what I have in it. And don't forget this includes subframe, modified steering rack , transmission and ecu/harness. About as much of a "bolt in and go" as you can get. Just avoiding the headache of the build and long timeframes alone is worth a small fortune IMO.

The slide throttles alone are probably worth -- hard to say -- maybe $2500. I bet Lenny paid twice his asking price, guys... Somebody should hop on this.

Great value... not only from a monetary point of view, but being able to grab the entire turnkey drivetrain and save the expense of all the major headaches.

I must comment, however, that this surely does seem a bit anticlimactic to your build. You certainly have your priorities in place, it's just shocking that after all this time and buildup, the final product was experienced so briefly.

Yes! We want more video.

Plus, it will help it sell.

Your car sounds amazing and the quick shifts/gearing just add to the effect.

Thanks guys. And yes, it is a bit unfortunate for me I suppose. I'll chalk it up as a lesson learned. Don't take on long term projects , as you may not want the same thing 4-5 years from now as you did when you started. But I'm glad I had the opportunity to experience it, it still brings a smile to my face and I will be sad to see the engine , possibly car go. For sure someone will be getting a deal. I understand it still isn't cheap, but all things considered at that price and no wait on a shop.. It's a steal.

You gonna try to run the 1/4 before you let it go? I've been very curious what a Logan NA setup runs with your cars rwhp and weight.

If I still have it on a test and tune weekend, Ill try and make it up there. I've had some interest in the drivetrain since I posted it for sale though, so it may be gone before that. I am running a 4.30 gear in the cobra diff.

Cold start video. Car has been sitting for a week. Had some requests for a startup vid. Tried to show good oil pressure, etc. Idle hunts a bit until warmed up, but to be expected.

Mmm that is a delicious idle.

Hope you didn't run it too long with the garage door closed though...

Drove the car to work today, stopped to try and take some half decent pictures:

You're running shine front fenders, right? What's you do about the fender liners? Looks awesome.
