Thanks to everyone for the words. Its been a great build that continues to grow. My future goals are paint and more power.

I have been doing alot of research lately. As it sits, It will be June before I return from my deployment. Then, I will build the WI kit and implement it to my current setup. I will not be turning up the boost on this engine as it sits. I will however, be fine tuning the system and working out any kinks that may come along. From there it will probably be another year before I am able to put everything together. I'm looking at about $6k in parts. I already received a quote from Dave at SpeedOne on the engine.

I have some cool idea's with this system. Possibly utilizing a Aquamist DDS3v10 with manual water injection....

Stay tuned for a parts list and bench testing of the system......

Awesome work! Id love to get my hands on one of these V-Mount kits here in New Zealand cause the only FD intercooler kits we can get here are the Greddy front mount Knock off ones and they are no good for track work! V-Mount all the way!

I sold a few to New Zealand, shipping is alot, like 300!

I would rather pay the $300 shipping than get a greddy kit. Ben's kits are excellent! I have a friend who will be going single next year. I help him along in the FD world. He will be getting one of these kits as well.

Beautiful build!

nsk1 02-14-12 10:23 PM

in for results for when the boost goes up!

XLR8 03-21-12 11:04 AM

Good news boys! Selling my mint condition FC has catapulted me into my build upgrades.

The plan for more boost will be executed over the next few months.

- Full engine rebuild by Dave Baringer. Cryo treated rotors, large street port, stud the motor all holes, cryotreat the rotors and steel plates, oil porting to e-shaft/oil feeds and returns.

- Full tranny rebuild

- Spec stage 3 clutch/ ACT street flywheel

- Aeromotive Stealth fuel pump

- Manual pre-turbo water injection kit. Utilizing AEM flow monitor and failsafe with boost dump capabilities.

Rotary Extreme Sales 1 03-21-12 08:21 PM

wow, are you going to have an iat temp monitor to see the difference between hot and cold side on this set-up.

man this is awsome

cant wait to see the finished set-up

The parts collection begins again.......
I chose to ditch the EV1 injectors and FJO setup. The new EV14's are superior in every way. I recommend talking to John at Injector Connection. I also purchased Brent's nozzle (DudemaaansownRx7). After much research, there was no need to reinvent the wheel. He has had great success with his kit. I just wanted to revamp it a little. I will be running all AN fittings, and teflon Aeroquip push hose. ABS will be removed soon, with a nice aluminum water tank going in its place.

EV14 720/2000cc injectors
Pre-Turbo air atomizing nozzle

My wife took some pics of the FD today while on our Easter Sunday drive. She is using her new digital SLR camera. :)

Your 7 looks clean! Love the Rims!!

Mrmatt3465 04-29-12 04:12 PM

So you decided to use high impedance injectors instead of low impedance with a peak and hold driver or resistors? Sounds like the way to go! Did you choose this route for simplicity? I imagine you're tuning with a PowerFC? Please keep us posted on how this fuel set up works out!

fcs5boosted 05-02-12 12:37 AM

nice build

XLR8 05-04-12 07:56 AM

Thanks again for the comments guys.

Yes, PFC.

There is no reason to ever run a different injector. With the new Bosch EV14 injectors available for both stock and aftermarket rail sizes, it's a no brainer. Better atomization, better design, better control.....at the same price!

www.injectorconnection.com Ask for John.

You'll notice these aren't Injector Dynamics. If you want to pay twice as much for the same injector, feel free. John pulse width matches their injectors just the same, just no elaborate marketing and cool name....

cretonrx7 05-17-12 11:12 AM

oh wow great build!

XLR8 06-05-12 10:13 PM

Slowly getting things sorted.....

Getting the water injection squared away before I swap my engine. I purchased a fresh ported Pineapple Racing engine that is standing by.

Tank fitting is close. Boost switch & solenoid are mounted and awaiting lines installed. I had K&N make me a custom size filter and it should be here at the end of this week. Once it arrives I will be mounting everything up and testing the system. 4 gallons of 50/50 standing by. :D

A few things will change when I swap the engine. More shiny stuff and more cleaning up. Mostly aesthetics really. I will be fabricating the V-mount ducting finally and getting it sealed off. Also getting a Ronnin Speed Works MazdaSpeed carbon hood.

great build, are you located around north jersey? and the tuner is located around jersey?

XLR8 06-06-12 06:02 AM

Thank you. :). I am in central Jersey. My tuner is Dave Baringer at Speed One. He is located in PA.

nsk1 06-12-12 12:33 PM

really want to see some detailed pictures of how well the hood fits! i want the fiberglass once though... cant stomach the price of carbon if i'd just paint match it anyway...

Nataphen 06-12-12 10:16 PM

I need to buy injectors soon, and that link that you posted doesn't work. Do you have a number or anything? How much for a pair of 1600s with connectors?

DriftDreamzSS 06-13-12 06:01 PM

I hope you are going to paint that hood, your car looks too nice to do the unpainted carbon thing!

Mazdaspeed carbon hood ORDERED :D. Should be here in a few weeks. I will post detailed pictures. Yes, the carbon price is high. The carbon is marginally stronger and will flex less under higher speeds. Ronnin Speed Works uses OEM latches on their hoods as well. I do not plan to run hood pins.

My bad, the site is www.fuelinjectorconnection.com . They are awesome. Ask for John.

And you would presume 100% correct. I will have to forgo a few months of bare carbon, but it will DEFINITELY be painted. ;). Once my new engine is in, the next order of business will be paint. My new Mazdaspeed hood and authentic Feed type I bumper are going to look amazing. Those will be the only body modifications.

XLR8 06-16-12 10:54 PM

Water Injection installed and working flawlessly. I am utilizing the nozzle and solenoid from WannaSpeed.com. Brent hooked me up since I didn't want to play with plastic tanks and lines. All AN fittings with Teflon push locks. Using a Gemlock optic level sensor to keep water levels in check. A Nason boost switch was also preferred over the plastic units. Devils Own uses these with great success.

My polished tank was made by Dad's Custom Intercoolers. They did an amazing job and I have nothing but great things to say about their customer service and quality piece. Donny has some serious skills.

I will add, I contacted K&N and had them make me a custom size filter. Since space has been extremely limited from the beginning, I wanted a solution that will have no problem hitting 500whp. The dimensions as calculated flow a few CFM more then other setups I have seen hitting my projected goals. Goodfella's FD was running a shorty filter with no issues. Mine actually flows a little more than his old so I should have no issues. K&N was ON POINT with their customer service. All I can say is that they are one hell of an American company. Hoooraahhh.

Currently only spraying water at 15psi with an 8psi engagement point. I have 4 gallons of 50/50 standing by for when the new engine goes in :D. I will be swapping within a few weeks. A Pineapple built large SP running 25 psi should get it done. :)
