thxs guys.
6 stitches on the outside of her chin and 30 stitches in the inside of her mouth she is good to go. Jaw is little sore but she has some good pain meds.
Insurance adjuster is going to look at it on Mon or Weds and we will see how much it cost to fix, what they value it at and whether or not it's gonna be totaled.
I'm kinda wanting them to totally it and sell it back to me cheap. I will then pull off what i want and then sell the whole car.
I will then give the wife the BB or VR FD.

Also glad to hear your wife is ok, because that's what's important.
Total it and that's one less Clean titled FD on the road in the USA. As long as the frame is straight (and it may not be lookin at the pics) fight those bastards at Geico for every dollar to get it fixed without totaling her out IMO.
This is why I'm such an advocate of American Collector's insurance...... $25,000 agreed on value with $0 deductible for $350 a year (yes less than $30/month) and 5000 miles a year. Consider it for the rest of your fleet Johnny K

I will switch to American Collectors after this is squared away. Thanks for the info.
So a company just called me and wanted to pick up the car because it was a total loss. I still haven't heard back from the adjuster so i'm not too happy on the way things are going at the moment.

IMO insurance cos are up there in the scum of the earth catagory. They are very good at taking your money, but good luck getting it back. They will do everything to limit their payments. They will "crunch" the numbers to their advantage. My guess is they will total it and say your car is valued at less then their estimated repair cost. In this calculation, they will value your car low and estimate the repairs high. If they don't total it, they will estimate repairs low. If you want to keep it, with a clean title, you may have to negotiate a settlement that is less then they would offer totaling it.
What ever way you go, good luck

^ i agree.
I think they are valuing the car at $9600 with repair costing around $7600.
The repair cost has to be over 75% of the car's value before they consider it a total loss.
I don't think you can even pick up a nice roller these days for less than $10k.
I talked to the adjuster at 9:45 and he said he was going to do some follow up.

So they are valuing car at 9600 since i don't have a working odometer and buy back price of 6300.
Previous owner had 50k miles on the car and i registered it 3 months ago. They cant use the 50k mileage because it was 5 yrs ago.
I'm going to pull some other comps. Any other suggestions on getting the value higher?

What insurance company do you have? Maybe is time switch insurance company. I know statefarm goes by Blue Book + Current Market Value.

So they are saying the value as-is is 6300 and prior to the crash is only 9600??? That means they are only willing to part with 3k. What a bunch of vultures.
I'm going through the same hell myself. Think you're only real alternative is arbitration, but that course is not an easy deciosin. It costs $s and they will drag it out as long as they can. Unfortunately, i'm just starting that process and can't pass on any first hand experience (yet).

Good luck on your adventure.
I just got off the phone with a supervisor and he heard me out and was going to review the comps, carfax and do some additional research on his end. He didn't just shut me down so that's good news. I'm hoping we can come to an agreement soon.

yeah I heard bad things about Geico... Still doesn't compare of what I have heard about progressive...
One of my close friends is an insurance angent and he said that a viable argument is the premium that you paid. Did you pay a premium for a $9600 car or for a $20K car (as an example).
Are they going to let you keep your mods?
Also don't let them tow your car. While haggling, it is better to keep the car in your property (and control) because tow yards are a bunch of vultures and they may not let you keep any parts that the insurance did not pay you for. At least that's what happened to a friend of mine. He crashed his T2 with brand new BBS wheels and the tow yard would not let him take the wheels off...
The cluster is from my BB FD and i think it had close to 100k on it. I told them the car didn't have a cluster in it when i bought it but i bought it assuming it had 45k miles since the last time it was registered was back in 2012.

Geico and Progressive......I have long believed that companies that advertise profusely are LOSERS and often their claims = their weaknesses.....probably a few exceptions out there but not many.
I think Johnny has the car back home awaiting final word from agent.

Dang Johnny, really sorry to hear about the accident. Glad that your wife wasn't more severely injured! Cars are replaceable, loved ones aren't.
I will never be using Geico or Progressive insurance!! That's some BS that they are skimping on the mileage and the value of the car. I hate any and every kind of insurance. It's the biggest racket besides credit score. You gotta have it, and they'll happily take your money, but when you ever need them, they are nowhere to be found and you gotta beg, borrow and steal to get anything back.
Never had a bad accident or totaled a car so I'm a bit confused. Why would you have to buy the car back, or potentially lose control of the car? Don't you fully own the FD and the insurance would just reimburse you for cost of damages?

Thanks man.
Everything worked out and I plan on explaining everything i went through soon.
If they total the car you have an option to buy the car back or take what they value the car back.
Example. Insurance values the car at 20k and the buyback price is 6k
You can take the 20k check and let them keep the car as is or you can keep your car and insurance cuts you a check for 20k.
If the car is not totaled, the insurance company cuts the repair shop a check and they fix your car.
As the owner of the car, you have full control of the car until you sign over the title.

You mean if you keep the car the insurance cut you. 14k check ..or. you get to keep the car and the 20k? Then what's the point of a buy back value if you still get the check and keep the car lol
