Ok guy's So i got bored over the weekend and decided to do some work on the turn signals. So i checked on youtube and found some video's of bimmer vid on how to install angle eyes on E36's. I found a bunch of video's that really helped out. found out that u need to bake them in the oven for a few mins.......

however i didn't feel comfortable putting them in the oven so the glue could soften. so i decided to use my heat gun at and just take my time.

Tools i used
razor, Heatgun and Box Cutter.

First i ran a razor around the edge of the housings.

I ran the heatgun on high on the back side of the housing and with the razor i slowly tried to work the clear plastic lens out.

Took my time with the it BAM. strange it looks like it cracked in the pic.

I decided to paint the housing Satin black. I haven't decided what im gonna do with lenses yet. I'm thinking i may tint them light blue blue or smoke them out.

^ What would a filter do? That is the turbine side.

What made you pull the turbo? Motor blow?

Well. . .
Took the FD for a spin and hadn't driven it in like a month or so because of salt on the road. decided last week after a strange 2 day rain to take the FD out. did my normal routine. warmed the car up to driving temp. then drove around a bit till it was at running temp. took it for a nice 1st and 2nd pull everything was fine. then i got hit with a huge cloud of bluish oil smoke when i came to a stop. motor sounded fine plus it was pulling 19inches of vacuum. did another pull less smoke but decided that was enough so i pulled back into my driveway and noticed a few oil drops nothing big. . .

i decided to look in the compressor housing and rev the car the throttle cable and oil came out of the compressor housing. Figured maybe it was Crank pressure or some thing.

then i noticed oil all over my oil drain pipe on the turbo. so i decided to just pull the damn thing.

I did replace a bad PCV valve. that was causing my dip stick to pop out and since i replaced that i haven't had a that happen but maybe that caused enough crank pressure to push oil out of the turbo. .

Well my plan to swap compressor wheels was a total bust. I guess having 2 of the exact same turbo's from the same company didn't help. The shaft that fits on the T70 that isn't blown is significantly smaller than the shaft on the blown turbo. LOL. that's what i get for trying to cut corners.

So im looking at rebuild kits for turbo's. However there are so many kits i have no idea which direction to go in.

Anyone know what the best rout to go in with this ? Will i need balancing ?

try www.midwestturboconnection.com

They are really nice and informative. And if they can't fix it they don't try to sell you on something else.
