Well Tray, as long as you can assure it's legal and we won't get arrested, I'm coming.
Should be a great Saturday night, cigars, home brew, bears, lot's of smokey camp fires and rotor heads.
And no snow.
http://www.weather.com/weather/weeke...+NC+28789:4:US
I was checking out the digs Tray got us up in the mountains, they're looking pretty good:
I hear folks are coming in from Virginia, Indiana, Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas, pretty much everywhere.
Should be a great time up in the hills this weekend.

I'm starting a caravan thread. I'm assuming you OGTAs want to meet up with Tim, when he drives down from Blue Ridge to get lunch on Saturday. The same plan as last year y'all.

Atlanta Caravan to B3R 2013
Since this is also Petit LeMans weekend, I want to get past the I-85N Road Atlanta Exit #129. And, further north will be more convenient for Ray to join everyone, with no excuses. So the initial meeting will be in Commerce, GA (I-85 North, Exit 149)
I always suggest bringing your 2-way radios and set on channel 7 for the caravan communications.
Saturday, October 19, 2013
8:15AM Meet at Cracker Barrel at 138 Eisenhower Drive, Commerce, GA 30529 (I-85N, Exit 149) for those eating breakfast there. Get in, get breakfast, then drive across the other side of I-85 to Wal-Mart for any initial supplies you may want for the trip. You probably want to top off you gas tank before meeting others at the Wal-Mart.
9:00AM For those not eating breakfast at Cracker Barrel, meet at the Wal-Mart in Commerce, GA, the same (I-85N, Exit 149) Get any supplies and be ready to leave just before 9:30AM. So, if you're eating, shopping for supplies, topping off your gas tank... plan accordingly and be ready to go with the group at 9:30AM
LEAVING COMMERCE, GA at 9:30AM
Drive up I-85North into SC
Exit 1 - Turn Left onto SC 11 ( Cherokee Foothills Scenic Hwy. for 47 miles
Turn Left onto US 178W for 15 miles into NC
Turn Right follow US 178N into Rosman
Turn Right onto US 64E - 8 miles to Brevard, NC
Approximately 12:00 NOON We can meet Tim and any others who drove from Asheville, that want to drive down off the parkway into Brevard for lunch. Also anyone wanting to join that is driving up from SC can meet us too.
Let's keep the lunch stop simple...
Wal-Mart parking lot (lower part, near Taco Bell and the Bank)
177 Forest Gate Drive
Pisgah Forest, NC 28768
Wal-Mart is at the intersection of NC 280, US 64, NC 276...
We will stop for lunch in Brevard. Right near the Bottom of HWY 276 there are several places to eat fast food. We don't all have to eat at the same place, most places are within sight of one another. Or you can bring something along for lunch.
Fast Food:
Taco Bell
Subway
Food Lion Deli
(maybe a few others in the shopping area...)
Also you can pick up last minute purchases at the Walmart here too. We can regroup by 12:30PM after everyone has eaten and topped off their gas tanks. Tim will then lead us back up to the parkway, maybe make a few stops and enjoy the scenery, and get to the Flaming Arrow Campground campsite just south of Cherokee, NC before 3:30PM to set up camp. physical address:
283 Flaming Arrow Drive
Whittier, NC 28789
Also, map of travels: Cracker Barrel in Commerce, GA to Flaming Arrow Campground in Whittier, NC - Google Maps Please use to modify your trip to arrive at any of the locations.
I always suggest bringing your 2-way radios and set on channel 7 for the caravan communications.

Sounds like an excellent caravan Holly, be sure to let Robert lead so y'all don't get any tickets.
Since I'm still not in a rotary this year, I'm skipping the caravan and mountain road tours in favor of home brew and good company around the campfire.
So I'll join up with the gang at the campsite a bit later on Saturday afternoon.
I hear Mark is bringing down his bear bait again, I want to see some of those bears this year!
I'll try out the personal nurse idea on Mike, I hear the Little Blonde Waitress may be available this weekend.

It's great to hear that Holly's organizing the caravan, it just wouldnt be the same without it.
Ray, are you providing your own ride? Or can I swing by and pick you up? At least you could avoid the shame of showing up with pistons!!!
I also saw that Kentetsu is coming, dont know about the couple from Indianapolis yet, hope they all show up.
See you all Saturday!

Robert, it's not pistons. It's SkyActiv Technology. I will explain the difference at the camp site.
Here's the list of states I have that will be represented:
Virginia, Indiana, Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas
An impressive group of rotorheads, for sure. People are probably starting to hit the road as we speak.

Most of those cars appear to be the wrong color....
It was great to have all first gens for the opening drive. I really wanted to stick around for the whole day this time, but alas, life has different plans. Great to see you all again though, along with a couple of new Bobs!

Excellent photo Bob!
I had a great time, and by noon on Sunday my headache was even gone.
Thanks to Tray and all you out-of-staters for twisting my arm and getting me up there!
Here's some pics, not real great and most didn't come out because it was too dark, but something at least.
Anybody got that video of Tray's leak?

Had a great time seeing everyone again. It was worth 4 days of driving just to get drunk around a campfire with you guys for a single night.
I'll have to talk the wife into dgrr this year maybe...

Great time again this year. Tray, good job finding us the alternate campsite. Looks like we may have a new B3R home. It was great seeing all the old faithful and welcoming the new ones to camp.
Distance Driven goes to Mark (Kentetsu) from Michigan, and 2nd would be a three way close tie with Brewer Bob from Maryland and Sheryl & Richard, & Bob & Kim, from Indianapolis.
State's represented were NC, SC, GA, AL, MD, MI, ID, VA
Someone correct me on the RX-7 count
7 1st gens - Robert's white, Tim, Sheryl & Richard, Bob & Kim, & Bob's silver, Andy's black, Mark's red
1 3rd gen - Jamin's green
1 RX=8 - Holly's gray with Kristy
2 piston's Bob's Mini, & Ray's Mazda3, Marshall & ?? with Volvo Emergency Transporter.
Not a bad turn out for the government shutting us down at the Smokemount campground. Tray, you are going to have to tone down the excitement next year, and no more bloody campsite stories involving rims. What happens at B3R, stays at B3R.
