Would Not Buy Again - jorgeRX7

About 10 Days ago, jorgeRX7 posted a FS in the SE section of the site. Amongst the items were a very good set of S5 Convertible tails for $140. A good price for undamaged tails and I offered to buy.

I offered to pay $185 total to have the tails sent safely in separate boxes.

On Tuesday, October 28th, after several emails, Jorge confirmed my address with me which led me to believe the items had been shipped.

By Monday November 3rd, I had not received the items and emailed Jorge. Who claimed he had not sent the items on the 28th but on the 30th and that he had sent them, ironically enough, "5 or 6 day UPS because I heard it was safer".

Now this is total BS since it doesn't not take 5 or 6 days to ship from Miami, FL 5 hours North.

The package FINALLY arrived today 11/7, in ONE box, not TWO as was paid for. The packaging was also shoddy. I receive my mail at a UPS store and have for years and the owner and one employee who were present LAUGHED at the packaging.

Both tails were damaged in the exact same place.

I emailed Jorge asking what he could do for me and he offered to "refund $30 for shipping". WTF? I ordered undamaged tails and this is what you offer?

I sent an email saying this was not acceptable so his email back is, "Well they are insured by UPS so you'll get $100" and "I was out of town and my mom shipped them".

Wow...if this guy had been honest from the beginning about when he shipped and how he shipped I would have perhaps cut him some slack. Too many lies.

I've now opened up a Paypal Dispute to receive a refund on my full amount. I would strongly urge that you exercise extreme caution in buying from this seller.

I genuinely believe he is a nice guy, but he should not be selling items.

jorge--

with all respect, I dont think he was trashing you here. he even said at the end of his post:

I
genuinely believe he is a nice guy, but he should not be selling items.
Here's the thing though--when you make an agreement in here to do something for a buyer, it is YOUR responsibility to follow through. I understand that things come up, believe me. But you promised this guy shipment in two boxes, and perfect condition parts. He didnt get either of those. So please, try to understand why he wasnt happy with an offer of $30 refund. He paid you good money for undamaged parts that were to be packaged securely. Please respect that. Honestly, if someone else shipped them for you, thats between you and that person---but it isnt this buyer's fault that you relied on someone else to ship these out, and he should not have to lose a penny because of that. Many times, honesty solves this kind of thing up front, before it is a problem. Might I suggest next time something comes up, that you simply tell the buyer that youve got to hear out of town, and give them an option, like "I can ship it when I get back, or I can have someone else ship it for you now...."? That way, the buyer understands whats happening and you can make the best choice so that you remain responsible for the transaction.

It has been said many times that a seller needs to be able to complete the sale or they shouldnt be selling parts. I am not trying to tell you not to sell here, but I do want to stress that we expect our sellers to personally follow through just the same way that we expect our buyers to promptly handle their end of the sale. Please consider this, and lets see if you two can work something out together. Believe me, I wont let someone muddy someone's reputation with unwarranted comments here, neither will the other mods. But this does need to be handled. Thanks

rx7roller02,

Thank you, this was my point exactly which is why I did not resort to name calling. I have actually been contacted by another member who has apparently had a poor experience with this seller as well.

Jorge originally offered to refund me the entire amount of $185. Since he was attempting to do the right thing, I informed him that if he had any parts of interest, I would accept those in place of cash.

He has then started to be a bit...rude...in his replies to me. Currently I have an email from him stating he will pay me back in full on November 20th, 2008. If he does not follow through, due to his dishonesty, I am going to pursue this until I am reimbursed.

This would be a shame as I told him that if he manned up and fixed the problem that I would post that he had resolved the issue to my satisfaction and I would consider purchasing from him again.

Until he does so however....I hope he follows your advice and his word and does make things right on the 20th.

could you please describe the condition of the box itself when you first picked it up? Also, could you describe or take pics of the packaging that was inside the box to cushion the lights? Seller has indicated to me that they were wrapped to protect them. I would just like to see both sides of the issue, thank you much

rx7roller02,

I will do so. I would also like to note that currently the seller is showing a great deal of responsibility in trying to make this right. I inquired about some other parts that he had and currently we have a tentative agreement to send me a few other parts so he doesn't have to come out of pocket and refund me $185.

As I stated originally, I believe he is a good guy that just needed to be a little more honest and should not have relied on someone else to pack/deliver.

the tails were wrapped in t shirts and towels and then both were wrapped in a towel and then put in box(tails had no room to move in)

like i said before i shipped out tails this way before and all ended well

we agreed that i will send him 5 parts

1) Gauge Cluster
2) Gauge Cluster Surround
3) Switches on the Steering Wheel
4) Steer wheel plastic surround
5) Shifter Surround

he also keeps the tails and we will be even on this transaction

You are lucky Gringo Grande to have worked out your differences. Considering that garbage you sent me,(yes I know it was 6 months ago). Judging by your PM response it likely would have done little good then also. I'm just chalking it up to a bad transaction.Seeing this thread just reminded me of it.
BTW Untested doesn't mean broken, it means untested. As far as buying something "as-is" maybe when you try to stiff the next guy, at least tell him/she that every one of the plastic parts are completely broken and missing pieces. When someone pays you extra to ship with a certain grade of shipping service,it would be considered good business practice to do that and not ship a via lower grade shipping service to put an extra $8 or $10 dollars in your pocket.

Hey looks like those extra items you are picking up off of jorgeRX7 are replacing the same parts(garbage I might add) you sent me,go figure.

No more input needed from anybody else except for the buyer and the seller of the items. Don't waste my time by posting up your input. If you have a matter with the seller or buyer in this thread, send them a PM.

Thanks.

Jorge RX7 and I have worked out a tentative deal that helps us both.

He doesn't have to come out of pocket to refund me money and I don't feel like I'm out $185.

The specifics are not important and I will give Jorge credit for communicating with me in a mature and adult manner while we came to a mutual agreement.

I've stated repeatedly that I believe he is a good guy and as long as he comes through in the next week with what he promised me, I will consider him a man of his word and would consider buying from him again as I believe he will take much greater care in shipping in the future.

I'll repeat. As long as Jorge follows through on our agreement, I will consider him a standup guy and our deal resolved in an acceptable manner.

Griffin--please refrain from these comments. As a moderator already stated, if you have an issue with one of the parties in this thread, PM them. Don't post up comments like this in someone else's thread, if you need help on a buying/selling issue, feel free to contact myself or one of the other mods. But since a moderator already asked everyone to respect this thread, I am going to expect that you will respect his post. Thanks

Jon

Unfortunately after giving Jorge chances above and beyond and with multiple emails in which he specifically agrees to and promises to deliver certain items to make things right, he has failed to follow through by our agreed upon deadline.

At this point in time I would highly suggest that no one buy from him as he is a scammer/bad seller.

Not only youre a complete idiot you also have the nerve to reply on what i said

If you have worked things out why does the buyer recommends to others not to buy from you?

And some english word explanations for some, like you that dont understand, or at least dont want to understand.
Reputation means having good and bad things to be said. You either have a good reputation or a bad reputation.
If you think you the name BAD SELLER you have received its not the appropriate prove the buyer first wrong and then the rest forum.

And, i didnt compare my posts to your posts. That means nothing. But you expect to have or build reputation with your 15posts? Its like going to work and you wanna be the company's president from the first day.

Guys, no more warnings on this. Keep posts to the topic at hand, period. At this point there should be only TWO people posting here aside from mods--the buyer and the seller. Anything else is obviously nothing more than a distraction.

If you have legitimate concerns about a separate issue, use the PM function please, thats what its there for. But this thread is about this transaction. Lets keep it that way, thanks!

Jorge, it falls upon you now to handle your end of the agreement. Let's please focus on that, not on the comments of someone else.
