Worst transaction I never had: Djseven
Worst transaction I never had: Djseven
Hi all.
I tried to buy a BNR and a fuel system from Djseven and actually thought we had a deal. How wrong was I to think he was a man of his word. No worries though, as I can get the parts from someone else.
Here are the PM's to verify. As you can see he makes an offer, and I accept it. We swiftly discussed paying methods but suddenly he made a deal with someone else. I have all dates and times for proof.
Beware this guy. I would not buy from him unless I handed over cash and received the parts.
The "best" part is in the last mail when he's getting arrogant. It was a huge contribution to the decision to tell you all about it.
Here are the PM'S pasted (start at the bottom and work your way up):
"
Dear David.
I am afraid your 11 year track record are showing signs of wear...
I am not trying to give you advice - i am just stating the facts that you offered me a deal, and i accepted it. We discussed , very swiftly I might ad, how to wire the funds to you. I even stated that I would set up a paypal account as per your request, and asked for your account name/details.
Then you sell the item to someone else before you send me the details to be able to pay you. And you think this is reasonable?
I do not have to be the one to judge your track record. I think I will inform people on what went on here, and we can call it a day. I will of course leave out your phonenumber.
Btw; there was never any international hassle here, as I stated that the items were to be shipped to CA.
And you can keep your turbo.

If you want to turbos shipped somewhere in the US you are free to PayPal me the $1250.00

Of course I see the reason why you turn around and sell it to the next guy walking in the door.
Care to explain?
In my neck of the woods, the term we have deal means that there is an agreement between to gentlemen and they keep their word.
Looking forward to hear from you.

Just for curiosity; Why are you reluctant to have a wire transfer to your account? In my eyes it's the most safe and efficiant way to transfer funds.

All you have accomplished is making sellers not want to deal with YOU. My reputation in this community speaks for itself as previously stated.
Lets recap what happened so everyone is clear:
-Mazdafun PMs me with a low ball offer on the BNRs and Fuel setup stating he is in no rush, "I can wait for bargains."
-I respond saying I wouldn't take the original offer, but for $1500.00 shipped to an address in the 48 states I would do the deal.
-He responds we have a deal but wants to wire transfer the money, "I dont have paypal, and do not like it either because of the fees".
-No way am I doing an international wire when everyone under the sun has Paypal and gives the buyer and seller protection.. I explain this clearly at 4:08 PM on 7/26, He DOES NOT reply back until 7/29
-He replies back 3 days later and is upset I have already sold the fuel system TO SOMEONE WHO SHOWED UP IN PERSON WITH CASH. Do I need to go any further to defend myself here? Sure, why not. He has caused me to waste my time so whats a little more.
-He then goes on to question my integrity and he feels he was done wrong in some way.HE WAS THE ONE WITHOUT PAYPAL, IF HE HAD HIS **** TOGETHER HE WOULD HAVE HAD THE DEAL DONE 3 DAYS AGO- For someone who was in no rush and could "wait for bargains" he sure is upset he didn't get the parts.
Closing-I have sold enough parts and answered enough questions on this forum over the last decade to keep many FDs on the road, I don't really care if this thread stays up or gets deleted. Its people like this that run off most of the knowledgeable people in the community and prevent them from posting or contributing.
On a side note, I still have a good set of BNRs for sale if anyone is interested.
Hope this accomplished what Mazdafun was hoping for.

For some reason I can't let this exchange go without comment.
You cant make a "deal" and then say - oh BTW I can't really pay you thru normal channels and "I'll ask someone to receive the package". Terms of payment and shipping are part of the deal. It's the sellers perogative to ask for Paypal funds, or cases of banana's, or stacks of pennies as payment. Also the phrase "I'll pay you ASAP" is complete BS.
Love your first sentence also: "I tried to buy a BNR and a fuel system from Djseven and actually thought we had a deal. How wrong was I to think he was a man of his word. No worries though, as I can get the parts from someone else." Well apparently there were worries after all, or are you not a man of your word?
If you think this post makes you look good, then it's another indication of your poor judgment.

Next time you decide that you feel the need to comment, please do it without making insulting posts. You only make it worse when you do that.

OK, if I may make some observations....
1--there is nothing wrong with him asking if you would take $1400 instead of $1500....the way you say "lowball" makes it sound like he offered you $50 and some used chewing gum. He made an offer--nothing wrong with that. You are free to accept or counter, as you did. That's called doing business.
2--OP, I couldnt help but notice that you did not include any dates on your account of the conversation. If the seller is correct, that three days went by between his refusing the wire and you stating "OK, I'm opening up a paypal right now", then he is 100% within his right to sell to anyone else who comes along. This is not meant to be rude, but money talks. If a seller chooses to tell a potential buyer that they are willing to hold a part, that is their decision....but I see nowhere where you claim he did that and nowhere where he admits to doing it, so I must assume that it did not happen. That means until the part is paid for, it is fair game for another buyer.
3--You two did not have a deal worked out. He told you he would not accept the form of payment you offered. He then did not hear from you again for three days, is that right? How is he supposed to know that you are going to take action without you informing him? Sorry, you lost out on this one because of your failure to act on the terms requested, and failure to notify him and communicate with him about it. You could have told him that same day that you would open a paypal--by you waiting three days, he had no obligation to wait to see if you were going to come back around or not. he is here selling parts---his goal is to sell them, not to talk about selling them and then not hear anything back.
I'm sorry that you feel wronged, OP, but this seller did not break any rules in this process that I can see, unless there is something missing from your account of what went down. He made his parts available, discussed his terms, and when those terms were not met, he was under no obligation to put everything on hold in case you messaged him back with a new offer.

Hi everyone.
David makes this look like a keyboard-warrior game. I understand that he can sell his stuff to who ever he wants. I would not even have made the tread/argument had he taken a more decent tone. I am merely stating the facts here, and that is that he made me an offer and I accepted it. I never said I was reluctant to pay the amount we agreed on in a timely manner. If David had another customer on the items, I would have appreciated info about it. He might even have got more money for it too.
David: I hope you are better than how you “come over” on this tread. Your arguments that you are a reputable seller, and that “people like me” destroy the community are really not that good “arguments” in this case. You “season” these “arguments” with big letters in nice colors and all. Wow – I am so impressed.
In the end you hope I got what I wanted to accomplish. Dave – I got heaps more, and so did everyone else reading this tread.

I think I will chime in here. I am a friend and past business associate of DJseven, but that is not why I am posting here. His reputation needs no bolstering on this forum, nor does mine, so I will leave that alone.
What does need to be said is that I sometimes run into international buyers who are insistent that they buy my parts. Sometimes they even become pestersome and arrogant, with the expectation that I should service them whether or not I want to, and yet they also expect me to do all of the extra work, take all of the extra risk, and they still want to be able to negotiate for a lower price. They even usually have unique payment requests/requirements which further inconvenience most sellers' method of doing business.
What they fail to realize is that international transactions and shipping have many difficulties and risks not found with US48 shipments that continental US sellers normally deal with. As a seller, you are exposed to plenty of risk and expectation already, sometimes excessively so. I tend to try and accept the deals that place as little risk and effort on me as possible, as would any seller with basic common sense.
When a buyer becomes forceful or pestersome in this manner, to me it is a red flag that they are someone with whom I probably don't want to deal with. These are the kind of buyers who send 5 emails per day asking for status updates and random questions, and make posts on internet forums in an attempt to defame you when you have done nothing wrong. Perhaps this inherently stems from difficulties communicating efficiently, or perhaps customs and opinions in other countries are truly so different to cause them to believe they have been wronged, while in US custom they have not been.
It is for all of these reasons that many US sellers choose not to deal with international buyers whatsoever.
So, for all of you other guys out there who want to know why US48 sellers do not want to deal with you, you need to refer no farther than this post to find out. You have this guy, and others like him, to thank for the negative connotation assocated with international sales and shipping.

Mazdafun.....
Let me spell it out for you. You are wrong. You did not accomplish anything with this thread. You did not even address my question to you about the three days, which indicates to me that it is true. You need to communicate better with people in here. He is under no obligation to inform you that someone wanted those parts-why would you not assume that they are for sale to anyone? You left him hanging and three days later you expected them to be waiting for you. Doesn't work that way.
Do yourself a favor and let this one go...you're only embarrassing yourself otherwise.
