Who knows Cantgostraight? Help please!
Who here knows Cantgostraight, or has done business with him?
I've seen the quality of work that he and James provide and I will still say that it looks top notch, which is why I decided to go with him. So I sent him my IC pipes and a Greddy elbow, to be polished. To be fair though, the first elbow got sent to the wrong address by RX7store, but the second elbow was listed as delivered to "Cantgostraight's" doorstep.
What I don't understand is why "Cantgostraight" will not respond to any of my PMs about my parts, even when he has logged on to the forum at least three times since those PMs. He even had time to respond to another members' acquisition on a new FD, yet no reply to my questions.
I'm not out to smear anyone’s reputation or name, but as a customer I think I deserve a response to my questions. By posting this I hope to get a response from "Cantgostraight" or maybe another forum member can shed light on what may or may not be going on.
Thanks for any help.

Mike, I have no info on the seller, but I do hope everything works out. You should've contacted me about the polishing. I have a professional polisher who works for $60/hr (Going rate is $90+/hour) and does a phenomenal job.
Do you have an e-mail address or phone number by which you can reach him? I get PM notifications and sometimes ignore them... not because I'm trying to be a jerk, but because I come to the site for another reason, say to look up a FAQ or something, and then forget because the PM notification only comes up once.
Besides, what's the issue? Perhaps in your frustration, you haven't really explained it. Best of luck!

Riz, had I known that this would take so long I would have asked you, but then again I had no idea you knew a polisher. Maybe when I get this sorted out I'll drop you a line.
Poe, I can only PM him here on this site. I have his home address or some address he gave me, but that really doesn't help much. It has been 10 days and 4 PMs since I have heard anything from Cantgostraight. Even when I was talking with him I never got an exact time frame in which my parts would be done. Just that his polisher was busy with corvette parts.
I don't know, to some it may seem like I am being overly anxious, but as a customer awaiting parts so as to get my car back on the road, well 10 days is quite a bit of time with no replies.
Hopefully he'll respond soon.

I have had many items polished by "Cantgostraight", and I can tell you that he is a reputable person to do business with. How long has it been since the item was delivered?
Rest assured, you WILL get your stuff.

First off let me say that I chose "Cantgostraight" based on the quality of work and reputation he had on this forum. I'm not labeling him as a bad person or a scammer, I just want him to give me some information regarding when the work will be done and shipped, and whether or not he received the Greddy elbow.
Ok so here it goes. This will be lengthy!
1. Late December, around the 23rd, "Cantgostraight" and I start talking about parts I want polished. We come up this list: UIM, TB, alternator shells. I will mail him my two IC pipes and have RX7store send him a Greddy elbow. He states that he already has the UIM, TB and alternator shells, which I took to mean that they were already polished.
2. December 30th, I order the Greddy elbow from RX7store. I'm not sure of the exact date, but it shipped the first week of January.
3. January 2nd, the IC pipes are shipped via Fedex to "Cantgostraight".
4. As of January 19th "Cantgostraight" has received my IC pipes, but no Elbow, which was sent to the wrong address by RX7store. "Cantgostraight" says he will take my IC pipes up to James along with another member's stuff to get polished and keep an eye out for the elbow.
In "Cantgostraight's" defense, he was hoping to take all of my parts to James at the same time, so he held off until the elbow showed up.
5. January 24th, "Cantgostraight" says he was just waiting on direction and that he will take the IC pipes up to James and that James will be doing the UIM as well. Until now I had believed that those other parts were already polished.
6. January 24th, "Cantgostraight" assures me that all the parts, UIM, TB, alternator shells and IC pipes will ship together.
7. January 29th, "Cantgostraight", myself and RX7store all conclude that the first elbow is lost and that another one will be shipped the first week of February. "Cantgostraight" is also kind enough to say he'd be willing to sign anything he needed to, to prove the first elbow never arrived.
8. February 7th, "Cantgostraight" has yet to receive the second elbow and still waiting to hear from James. I guess on the status of my parts.
9. February 14th, "Cantgostraight" still no elbow, although according to RX7store it was delivered to his doorstep on the 8th. James is busy with Corvette parts and "Cantgostraight" doesn't or can't rush him. No word on the status of my parts.
10. February 18th, no response from the 14th PM. I ask "Cantgostraight" for an update on my parts.
11. February 21st, no response from the 18th PM. I tell "Cantgostraight" I change my mind about the IC pipes being polished. To please just mail me my IC pipes and the already polished UIM, TB and alternator shells. If he was not on board with that, then to just send me back my IC pipes.
12. February 23rd, no response from the 21st PM. I ask for a response to my PMs and why he has logged on but no response to me?
13. February 24th, no response from 23rd PM. I ask why he is not responding, even while logging on? I also state that I would have liked to handle this between the two of us. I also state that I will post in the 3rd Gen section in hopes of getting him to respond to my PMs.
So that is it for now. I'm not seething in anger here, but I am extremely curious as to what is going on with my parts. It has been almost 11 days with no response, yet he continues to log on here. Maybe I'm only looking at one side of the coin. I just thought it would only take a week or so to polish these parts.
Obviously I'm wrong.

"Cantgostraight" was actively logged on tonight when I sent him a PM asking about my parts. Yet still no response.
What is my next step? How do you go about getting your parts back?

Still no response from "Cantgostraight". It has now been almost one full month since I last heard from him. I'm calculating that he has about $300 of my parts that I will have to purchase again.
Hell I'm, even lucky enough to have another forum member help out in contacting him. Yet still no response!
WTF?

This is terrible. There must be some recourse. Consider lurking in threads in which he is posting and finding members who are close to him and trying to work that angle if you want to avoid starting a bad guy thread.

Poe,
I'm this close to creating a new thread about how I truly feel, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that nothing can really be done. I had hoped this thread would've caused him to respond, but we can see how that is working for me.
The problem I see with basing him is that he has done some nice work for quite a few members, and he has been around a while. Then there is me, the newbie, with 180 posts under his belt. It would be like David vs. Goliath, except I ain't got no sling.
He has logged on the site almost everyday, yet he hasn't posted since the 22nd of February. I think that is right.
Either way, I feel I am getting the short end of the stick here.

Mike,
Contact a moderator (specifically RX7Doctor) and request that this thread be moved to the "bad guy" section. Also, inform him of your situation and that this member is not cooperating and yet still actively posting and lurking on this forum.
If you paid him through Paypal, file a claim if you haven't already. This might help him get back to you or at the least it'll suspend his account so he can no longer conduct business here or online in general.
Finally, don't worry about your post count. It makes no difference. If support is what you need, I got your back

Riz,
No money has been exchanged as of yet, but my parts are still in his possession, which makes them damn near impossible to get back.
Should I contact a mod at this point, or wait a couple more days to see if the other forum member has any luck?
I'm sure we'd all love to handle such events privately, but I'm having no luck.
Thanks for the kind words though.

I wouldn't wait, but that's on you. Chances are he's probably already noticed this thread and chosen to ignore it. If it makes no difference to you, then you can always wait to hear from the other forum member before proceeding. Who knows, the other member might have some luck getting him to contact you.

I just left CGS a message so hopefully he will be posting when he is done with work. I do not know if the OP is the person in question and I apologize if it seems like I am insinuating he is. However I know CGS was having difficulty with a customer who kept telling him, "Yea do it", "No don't", "Yea do it".
We'll find out one way or the other soon I think.

I was the one that was attempting to contact Jack for mrhetrick, and I thought that being a past customer would have led him to have the decency to respond to my PM. However, that did not happen, and I will be taking my future business elsewhere.

Sorry for the late reply fellas. Apparently a crying baby also leads to a trip to the local furniture store for a vase to cover up a wall outlet in our dining room.
Married life, I Love it!
Gringo: To my knowledge and from what I remember, I was completely clear about what I wanted from Jack. I do feel that if I sent mixed signals to Jack, then he should have clarified with me on what I wanted. Regardless, Jack seemed to be fully aware of what I wanted so I can’t see that as an issue.
I arranged to purchase a polished UIM, TB and Alternator covers, along with him polishing my IC pipes a Greddy elbow (sent from RX7store). I was under the impression that the UIM, TB and Alternator covers were already polished. In jack’s defense, I never directly asked him if they were already polished.
I guess I should ask, if a professional had those three parts, plus two IC pipes and an elbow, how long would it reasonably take to polish?
If I am in the wrong for assuming and expecting parts back sooner than what is possible, then I am fully willing to accept that. I do however feel that, as a customer, I warrant a little better communication from a company/shop/individual that is providing a service, especially if that shop or individual is frequenting this site almost daily.
BTW: Thanks to everyone reading and helping me out in this matter, and thank you Rich and A-Rod for going beyond.

Dude,
Not arguing with you. I've already volunteered to recover the parts and ship them back to you (once I'm pay pal'd for shipping...haha) as long as CGS doesn't claim he is owed any money or anything.
If there is a money issue, that is something I would not become involved with. =)

Gringo:
I didn't think you were arguing, so no worries there.
Just to clear things up, have you talked with CGS? If he agreed to hand the parts over to you to mail back to me that would be just fine. I'll pay for shipping. Whatever work CGS has completed to date, I'll pay for. I just don't want to be waiting for another two or three weeks for my stuff.
Again, I just want to know what you guys think is a reasonable time in which those parts could be polished by a professional?

Mike,
I haven't heard back from him and asked another member to call him as well. This is becoming very strange. I'm supposed to see him this weekend so will find out what is up. If I can get your parts I'll certainly help get them back to you.
